Casey235 reacted to sharonintx in 5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
I did fine. In fact, I started soft foods about 3 days post op ( obviously very carefully) and had no issue whatsoever. I did not end up stretching my sleeve, failing to lose weight, nor have I found that I am gaining weight after 2 yrs. I haven't gained a pound back. Not one.
My sleeve works great. This won't be a popular response, but I do not put much faith in the opinions of nutritionists and the like. I am pretty sure we are all capable of making intelligent decisions about our diet and our own best interest.
Those eggs I ate on day 3 after surgery made me feel a lot better about life in general.
Just my experience. I am not suggesting that everyone should rebel against Drs orders.

It is amazing how today I can take a normal size gulp of Fluid. Up till now It was only tiny sips, took forever to get the shakes down
    Isopure makes great popsicles .
I have more energy than before surgery but tire easily.
Egg drop Soup strained if FABULOUS and sits good. Very cheap to buy already made too.
I had 90 grams of Protein today, without any difficulty. Earlier post op was about 40 grams.
    Life is good........

Hello. I was sleeved on April 29th and have been healing very well. However, today I have had extreme diarrhea. I know this is TMI.... But it's almost so bad that I think it's gas but then it's not. I have been on pure liquids since surgery. Anyone had anything go in like this? I'm worried I may get dehydrated.

Your body may be reacting to your new calorie intake earlier than some others. Check this out (especially the link) and see if it helps....
Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Yes only a week out and feel like other than residual surgical pain and the money it cost me the surgery did nothing. I'm hungry. Not head hunger. I don't like sweets. I hate milk products. No more Protein Shakes please. I want a nice salad. I was losing weight really well, now nothing. My rationale for the surgery was historically gaining it back. Now I just want a greek salad with fat free dressing and to return to losing 5 pounds a week.

At my 2 week follow up, which happened in my third week, I was told to consume 700-1000 calories. I told my doc I wasn't getting anything near that. I average about 500-650 calories. He told that he wasn't too worried but to focus on getting between 60-80 grams of Protein and my Water requirement.
I suggest asking your surgeon or nutritionist for what is best for you.

This is funny because after a size 14 pants got too tight, my pants size became LEGGINGS ????
Decided to have the surgery just when I realized I would have to go up to a 16, and hopefully never going back there again!!

Thanks for the replies. The post was more of a rant than complaining. Again I stress I am thrilled I had the sleeve, I knew about some of what to expect, I knew my lifestyle choices would change. The main reason for the post was balance. I understand when you say you don't want to post the negative stuff, you just want the upbeat success stories and all that good stuff. All of that is great, it gives hope and promise however only posting the good stuff is not reality. People do not come here to get a "Disneyfied" version of WLS. I WANT to know all the shit people have to deal with. If every other post is a "I got out of surgery Tuesday, back to work Thurs and running a marathon by Sunday" .... It makes the vast majority feel like failures before they even begin. I want to urge people to post all your crap as well as the good stuff so this site can be more balanced than it currently is!

    Hi Camen606
I had my sleeve April 2, I'm on week 3 diet which includes scrambled eggs (tuna next week) I agree with you about the Protein shakes! I am so OVER them. My surgeon said that I may have to supplement my protein with shakes to get all my protein. That did not thrill me. Anyway, I did something stupid today, I ate one egg in probably 5-6 minutes. Not a good idea, it was very painful! Lesson learned. I think I feel better and sometimes forget that I had surgery. This week is cottage cheese, yogurt, beans, cheese, eggs, and a few other things I can't remember, probably because I don't like them anyway. Good luck on your journey, I like hearing what others are doing that had the surgery around the same time. No one I know understands my choices, so I have found this page very helpful!

Because I do know it will get better.. I just don't like how it is now:( And my mind doesn't understand why it's BFF (food) is not here with it to comfort and ease the pain like before!
It really has been comforting to hear I'm not alone in the regret department! So I wish all of you luck that were April sleevers like me ✌️ next month hopefully we will be consoling the May sleevers... And so on and so on ))

I am one week out exactly and NO ONE told me the downside of this! I know it was my responsibility to research and I honestly thought I did all I could do, but maybe I only read what I wanted to read! I was not expecting at all to miss food.... I honestly thought once I had the surgery I would never be hungry again. Boy was I wrong.
The mental aspect of it, especially in the beginning, is tough. If you are like me and are a food addict, it will be hard, maybe the hardest thing ever.
But, with that being said, I know that I am going to make it, one day at a time and it will be so worth the mental anguish. You are one step ahead of the game because you are aware there will be a struggle with missing food. This site and all the wonderful success stories are the only way I've made it through this week. I keep looking ahead and I can see the prize and it's beautiful!
Don't psych yourself out, but, do realize mourning food for some is a real problem! I wish you the best of luck and it will be one of the best decisions you have ever made! It's so good to know that we are not alone, we have similar struggles and can help each other during the bad times! And I honestly believe in my heart that in having this surgery the good will definitely out weigh the bad!
