m.sexton got a reaction from gENhA in Current sleevers in Alabama?
It is so nice to know there are several people getting sleeved in Birmingham. I am using Dr. Dewitt and I hope I will be sleeved sometime in November or December 2015. I have already done my sleep study, I have to have 7 months of supervised dr visits which I am on #3 this month so all I have left is EKG and pysch visit left to complete. Who are ya'll using for pysch ?

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! I am 47 and I wished my insurance would have paid for it 12 years ago so that I could have enjoyed life a lot more. I missed doing the little things like crossing my legs, getting up and down with my grandkids, not wearing bathing suit in public or shorts.... the list goes on. There are many many surgeons that perform this type of surgery and I would not waste another day on this physician. I only wished I had done this years ago. I have now lost 75lbs and I feel AMAZING!!! I never get tired of hearing how great I look. I love going places again with my husband. Good luck and enjoy life!

When does the Hair loss slow down? I was sleeved on November 6, 2015 and I am 7 months out. My hair is still falling out. I am taking all my Vitamins and Biotin and I am getting most of my Protein in.
I don't wont to cut it off but looks like I don't have many choices!

Good luck! So excited for you. I am going on 7 months and I love my sleeve. NO complications but several stalls so don't freak out when you go thru it. Just part of the process.

I was sleeved on November 6, 2015 and I have lost 73 lbs. I have lost the last 3 lbs over and over for the last month or so. I stay so hungry all the time now. IS anyone else having these problems? I crave sweets all the time.
Help!!!! I do not want to gain back what I have lost but I never thought I would be dealing with these issues so soon.
    Thanks.

Are you eating enough, drinking Water, exercising, etc.? I'm also 5 months post-op and I was kind of in a stall before I went on vacation earlier this month. I gained 2 pounds away from home, but went back on my "program" when I got back. That week after, I dropped almost 5 pounds and I've lost another pound this week. I'm a slow loser to begin with, averaging 5 pounds a month the last two months anyway. Maybe if you up your calories for a few days and then go back down, it will shock something? Or increase the intensity of your exercise for a week and then go back? I've learned the last 5 months that stalls are normal and nothing to worry over. It's just your body readjusting and you are still probably losing inches.

I'm in the same boat right now. Just a little over 5 months out and I am completely stuck. I've only lost 3 pounds in the past 5 weeks. I know I'm doing everything right so it is really frustrating. I'm not supposed to see my surgeon until 9 mos out, but I think I may go see him at 6 months if things don't change. I'm not going to hit my 6 month goal he set at this rate, so I think it is justified. It is really depressing me. I'm at a weight that I have not been able to get past for the past 30 years. I'm going to be really disappointed if this surgery was for nothing and I'm still where I always have been able to get on my own.

There is no sugar coating this. Looks like he has moved on and so should you! I am on my 2nd marriage and I know exactly how you feel. I promise it does get better but you need to stop talking to him and continue on with your new life. Stay busy and every day it gets better. Try and find a new hobby or better yet buy you a puppy! That will keep you busy enough and keep your mind on something other than him. A best friend would never hurt you and would be there for you in your time of need....so your idea of a best friend and my idea must be totally different. If that was me you would only have to tell me once instead of letting him use you as a door mat. Only you can take up for yourself and by that you need to stop all communications! A ex is an ex for a reason.
Good luck and I know you can do this. Someone great is waiting on you out there!

m.sexton got a reaction from Miss Mac in Would you move where has someone died?
Yes I would. IF they were murdered then the answer would be NO!!! I purchased my home 11 years ago and a young mother of 3 passed away with cancer. She ended up passing away in the house. I have never had any issues with it and the children were able to use the money for themselves. Sounds to me like God opened up a door for you to walk thru. Good luck on your decision.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. If you intend on losing a significant amount of weight you will stall periodically.
That said, if you are concerned, talk with your NUT. You MAY actually need to eat more to support your increased exercise.

any time I have a stall, I usually see the inches come off. I continue exercising and push fluids and the scale does move again. I will get so frustrated during stalls and then suddenly my pants are looser or I am in smaller clothes and then I'm happy again! It's all normal, but still frustrating when it is happening.

You may want to try eating more. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it helped me break a stall. I was only eating around 700 calories a day, and burning about 1,000 during my workouts. My Nut said to go up to 1000 calories and include more good carbs. It helped me for quite awhile, but unfortunately I'm in a two week stall right now.

What kind of exercise are you doing? There are certain types that help more with weight loss than others. Are you doing straight cardio, or are you mixing things up with cardio and strength training?
Google HIIT training. It's specifically done to maximize weight loss while building muscle.

I bought the book on my nook which has more info than that link but the link is the basics. I had surgery ayear ago and have really struggled honestly. I did not jive with the nutritionist whom I felt did not offer me any real plan after surgery past the first 6 weeks. A friend who has been more successful suggested this pouch test to start again in a way.

when adding the Protein powder to your coffee or hot chocolate remember you put one scoop in a cup and add a little cold Water until it is runny like pancake batter and then slowly stir in your coffee and it wont lump up. I had to learn the hard way on this. LOL Great way to get in your Protein. I also hate taking Vitamins and having a hard time with it. I ran out of my Patches but I came across the website and went ahead and ordered me some more. I usually get them at my Dr. apt but its a 1 1/2 drive away and not very convenient for me. They should be arriving any day now. I am sick of Protein drinks so what I do is smoothies instead. Add Greek Yoplait yogurt strawberry cheesecake (100 calories and 13 g of protein) with a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein Powder a little milk and cut up a banana and it is amazing!!!!!! Good luck and let us know how your check up goes!

Since I am considered a "Weight loss or VSG Veteran" I have been asked many questions. All of which are valid and important to ask! I had many of the same questions myself. SO I figured I would create this post to explain a day in my life now, almost 4 years out.
5:00 a.m. -I wake up and take a b-12, one a day women's, and Iron supplement. 5:15 a.m.- I start my mornings off with an 8 ounce glass of Orange juice (trop-cal 50 with calcium). 6:30 a.m.- For Breakfast I drink a Premiere Protein Shake (11 ounces) and a piece of fruit, usually an apple or banana.< /li> 9:00 a.m.- For my morning snack I eat some grapes/cheerios/mixed nuts etc 11:30 a.m.- For lunch I eat 4 ounces of a lean meat (chicken/turkey/fish) 1/2 cup of veggies, 1/2 cup of carbs 2:00 p.m.- For my afternoon snack I might have (lite string cheese/jerky/a piece of fruit) 3:30 p.m.- I will eat a cliff or Protein Bar before my workout. 4:00- 5:30 p.m.- I work out at the gym 5 days a week (every weekday) 6:30 p.m.- I have dinner which is the same as lunch but I add a sweet treat. 8:30 p.m.- I have a bedtime snack raisins/grapes/a few crackers/glass of milk/etc. 10:30 p.m. Bed time. *I carry a bottle of Water around with me all day and refill it multiple times. I make sure I am getting at least 64 ounces of water daily and 80 grams of Protein.< /p>
