ThinnieMinnie2B got a reaction from Sleevefornellie in 2 Days Post Open Severe Nausea
I had a bout with nausea post op. I found Yogi Ginger Tea and it was a lifesaver. The hot tea sat well in my tummy and the ginger was great for nausea and reflux! I hope she can get some relief soon.

ThinnieMinnie2B got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in Headache!?!?
I had this issue as well. I was taking in at least 100 Fluid ounces a day and getting in all of my Vitamins, Protein, etc. My surgeon suggested that I up my calorie intake. This was at my 3 month post op appt. I was managing around 600-700 calories. He suggested I increase it to 1,000 calories. I do walk 3.5 miles 3-4 times a week. As increased my calories I did notice that I felt better and the headaches went away for the most part.

Humana approved my surgery within 24 hours of the clinic submitting the request! Humana called me and told me I was approved. I immediately turned around and called the clinic to schedule my surgery!

Good for you! I too was diagnosed with PCOS. I am 3 1/2 months post op and and down 64lbs. I just met with my OB for an annual. She was ecstatic with my weight loss. I also for the first time in YEARS had a positive ovulation test. My OB said that the PCOS had most likely taken care of itself with the weight loss. I am going on the pill until I'm one year post op to prevent pregnancy. I do not have any children yet. Talking to my OB about trying to conceive this time next year I became emotional. It's SOOO exciting. The possibilities are endless.

Just had my 3 month post op checkup and my surgeon cleared me for alcoholic beverages. He stressed moderation and cautioned getting drunk faster. I had a few sips of my hubby's beer 2 months post op. No issues but apparently my tastes have changed because it was gross.

I'm 3 months post op and I can take pretty decent swigs of Water. Yes I use a straw. I haven't actually tried "chugging" water. I'd imagine it might cause discomfort. But nothing extremely serious.

    Hi
I am going through the Pre-op insurance requirements for a sleeve. I have gone to support groups at Banner Gateway (since they are open to everyone regardless of surgeon) and find them very informative. They have varied topics and it seems more organized than the group I attended at Phoenix St. Lukes. My insurance requires me to have bariatric surgery at Phoenix St. Luke's though so my actual surgeon is Dr. Fang. One of my co-workers had gastric bypass with Dr. Podkamini at Banner in 2009 and found him excellent though!

I got all of mine at CVS. They have great BOGO sales. chewables and gummies. You can compare the ingredients from the Bariatric Vitamins to store brands. As long as you are getting the minimum recommended (per surgeon) amount (1,000mcg b12/1,500mg Calcium, etc) you should be fine.

I've tried Cinnamon Roll and strawberry Cheesecake. They were awful. chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is delightful! Big chunks of chocolate and it's not too sweet.

ThinnieMinnie2B got a reaction from beltran2000 in December Sleevers
I was sleeved 12/22. I've a total of 51lbs including the 15lbs during the 2 week pre op liquid diet. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and it lasted a good 2-3 weeks. Super frustrating. But I can tell my body is reshaping itself, especially my tummy. I drink around 100oz of Fluid a day, get in 60-70g of Protein, track EVERYTHING using My Fitness Pal, and walk 2-3 miles 4-5 times a week. I've also been doing squats, lunges and other exercises to shape up my legs and booty. During the stall I would change up the foods I was eating and the exercise. It seemed to help. It can be discouraging but just remember if you're following your program you WILL lose and the sleeve will do it's job. Congrats on your 26lb loss! Best wishes!

ThinnieMinnie2B got a reaction from wannaBthinsoon in So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
In the classes they preached no straws. At my 2 week post op I asked my surgeon about it. He said the main thing with straws is some people tend to "drink" their calories and they may be taking in more than they realize. I explained to him that I can drink much more Water throughout the day if I drink through a straw. He was totally fine with that. I only drink my water through a straw. No gas pains ever. Before using a straw I was struggling to get 60oz. Now with a straw I easily get 100oz.

ThinnieMinnie2B got a reaction from BLERDgirl in Pills you say?
Check with your surgeon. I was given pills the same day as my surgery, that night. Just be sure to cut them up if they are large. I take Ambien at night and post op it doesn't seem to be as effective. I believe it's due to not being able to fully dissolve before its passed through. We were also told some extended release pills are not as effective post op. I'm almost 2 months post op and the majority of the meds I take are pills. I got tired of the gummies and chewables.

You would have to be very careful with frozen margaritas because they tend to be loaded with sugar. Some people can get sick from too much sugar and the loads of sugar combined with the alcohol might be too much.
