My favorite is the strawberry Gladiator Protein Powder from smoothie King. Very low carbs and high Protein count. It is best when blended with fresh fruit, ice and Water. You can buy the powder at any Smoothie King.

You can't have "treat days" at this stage. I am 15 months out and I don't cheat very often. Certainly didn't cheat/treat before the 6 month mark. Definitely talk to your surgeon and be prepared to not like his/her answer. Sorry to be so blunt! Good luck and enjoy NYC. I hope to visit it someday too :-)

I use Feosol Bifera (the purple box version) and I don't have any problems with Constipation. I have a very easily irritated stomach and this is the only brand of Iron that doesn't make me nauseous. It's potentially the most expensive option for Iron, but I can take it without feeling any nausea and while I didn't know constipation is an issue, I've never had it with this supplement. Maybe the way that it is coated, which is designed to not upset your stomach, also helps in the lower GI department as well.

@@twinhappy - I add 1/2 a capful of Miralax a couple of times a week to my food/drink to keep things moving. I was told that since my Multivitamin has Iron and I take it twice daily that it was enough for me. My BW was good back in January so I am hoping it stays that way. I am also at the age where I don't have a period and I was told that would possibly add to needing a bit more Iron.

I get Protein shakes for free from Insure Nutrition. The pre-made kind. They send a prescription to my doctor, he signs it and then Insure Nutrition mails the shakes to me at no charge.

Another bad reality show. Another group of hopeful contestants who are willing to publicly humiliate themselves for weight loss and fame.
Those diet options are so ridiculous! Did y'all watch it? That chick who is is the "inventor" of the "Clean Momma" (is that what that was called?) diet is clearly insane. Seriously. I know desperation to lose weight. I know trying extreme measures to get fit and lose weight. But lunges down the grocery aisle? Squats to pick produce? I was already fat, I didn't need to make a spectacle of myself in public.
I am SO glad I had surgery.
Oh! And Oprah bought WWs? I do wonder when she is going to wake up and realize surgery may just be her answer.

Nip that in the bud now. You need to follow your plan to the letter while you heal. Find another way to get potein in other than shakes. Dont set yourself up for failure or worse. You can do this.

I'm going to be straight up with you on this, it's understandable that you're tired of your choices on liquids. But here's a fact. You worked hard to get this surgery. Why shoot yourself in the foot so early on? Being bored on liquids for a finite period of time is a drop in the bucket in the overall rest of your life. You're investing in your healthy future. That is worth sticking with the program when it gets, boring, inconvenient, or othewise a PITA. You're worth it. Act like it.

I am 14 months out. I never experience physical hunger and my head hunger has gone away too over time. I know I need to eat because my energy level will get low. I eat small amounts frequently, like a couple of handfuls of nuts, every few hours. I pretty much eat what I want. I just eat way less than before. I just have no hunger. I was a binge eater so I know about cravings and overeating. I've lost about 115 lbs. i wear a medium. I feel so very blessed.

Thanks for your suggestions. Perhaps I do have native wit and charm, but 'm not skilled in conversation and small talk. So.... taking Twinhappy's suggestion to walk around with a Water, and turning it up a notch, if I bring a fabulous fancy goblet to the party for my Water and some berries to float in it, I will have a festive conversation starter right there in my hand!
    I think I'll try it!

All the advice offered above is strong -- toughen up, get serious, go back to basics, find your discipline and just do it.
Also, get a counselor, therapist, shrink -- someone who can help you learn to cope differently with the aspects of your life that sabotage your efforts to care for yourself.
And now -- some frank talk coming at you here.
If a stranger were to take a look at some of our lives, their reaction would be: "Wow, no wonder! Your entire lifestyle and your family's lifestyle and your job and even your personal values are perfectly designed to keep you fat and to make you unhealthy."
There's no law that says we can't have frank discussions with our families about changing the way the family lives. Or that we can't change aspects of our jobs that stress us out -- or even get a new job. Or that we can't seriously consider whether some of the deeply treasured "values" we have clutched to our breasts all our lives aren't as weird as s**t and should be carefully inspected and perhaps discarded for better values.
Here's one I took a look at: After realizing (finallyl) that I took better care of my pets (and even some random strangers) than I did of myself, I decided that trying to be the Great Solver of Everyone's Problems wasn't doing me any favors.
Today I attend to my needs first, before those of others. Changing that one thing took the kind of discipline I'd never exercised before. And the weird thing is that nobody else has noticed. But it's sure made a helluva difference in my life.

twinhappy got a reaction from 2goldengirl in A serious question for the veterans
I am almost 10 months out (not sure if that is what you would call a veteran) and from my experience I started seeing myself in a better light about 2 months ago. I felt good about my weight loss months 1-8 but it wasn't until about month 8 that I started feeling like a normal sized person. I have also been overweight all my life. I am down to a size large top (maybe a medium) and 12 pants and I have never felt better. Yeah, I have loose skin but you can't tell with my clothes on. I nearly cried the day I realized I no longer can fit in the plus sized section at clothing stores. Then it also dawned on me that I can shop at "regular" people stores like NY & Co or the cute little boutiques. Having this surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I wish I would have done it sooner!

I am in hospital right now 3 days post op, and have had no family and friends around. All my family are overseas and I live 3 hours from the hospital. My husband dropped me off and headed back home to look after our 3 kids and continue harvesting. I have been fine, the staff here amazing, and a,though have missed my family it's been quite nice just concentrating on me for a change!!

I chose the sleeve because it was a permanent option vs the band. Also, I wasn't too happy about having a device inside of me and I wanted to lose more than 100 lbs. 8 months later I am 111 pounds down and still losing. Couldn't be happier!!!
