  1. Hello fellow Novembers! My surgery date has been set for November 17, 2008, and I am both nervous and excited for the day to come! I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and am just hoping to make it through the week. And for the surgery to go well, of course!
  2. Hello everyone. I've been lurking around this website for about a year or so, ever since I first started looking into this surgery. My surgery is scheduled for November 17th and I am really looking forward to starting this next chapter in my life. Husband cooked me a mini Thanksgiving dinner yesterday since I won't be able to eat much on the actual Turkey Day! Looking forward to getting to know my fellow Novembers!

Hooray! Congratulations! I know how you feel. I've been overweight for most of my life, it stinks knowing that I'm going to have to wait another 6 months! But I try to remind myself that in the long run it will be worth it. I just think 6 months is excessively long. Even 3 months seems better to me, but ah well. I'm sure the time will fly by. It always does!
  4. That's so sweet! *lol* Sweet that they were concerned for you not getting to have certain foods again. Awwww!
  5. Congratulations! That must have felt sooo good. =)
  6. I haven't been banded yet but my hopefully-future surgeon does do the sutures. He seems to think that it does reduce the risk of slippage.
  7. Congratulations! I hope I follow you in the approval process without too much trouble! Good luck. =)
  8. If I had known about the lap band I would have tried to have it years ago! Unfortunately, I only recently learned about it from a co-worker who had it back in January and has already lost 121 pounds. She looks great, but most importantly, FEELS great. She had major knee and health problems before, and had knee surgery at least once that I know of. When I ran into her in the elevator a few weeks ago she told me about her lap band, and re-assured me that the lap band is minimally invasive, doesn't involve cutting of the intestines at all, and is both adjustable and reversible. Once she told me that, I was sold! So I've since attended an educational seminar with her surgeon (who is actually performing the procedure on another of our co-workers on Monday) and have a consultation with him on Wednesday. Here's hoping I can get this approved with my insurance company! (They both did, so I'm confident I will, but I'll probably have to do a six-month doctor-supervised diet/exercise program first.) Um, yeah, that was long, but hey. It's my first post. =) To sum up, I'm 31 now and finally looking into it. Hopefully I'll still be 31 when I manage to have the actual surgery!!! Wish I'd known about it sooner.
