  1. Hi Nadean, I have been lucky to not have to do a pre-op diet. Apparently my surgeon doesn't do this as a routine thing. Can't say I am sorry though as it would have been hard to explain to every one at Christmas and over the New Year because I haven't told any one about the op. Good luck on the pre-op. Saleel22
  2. Hi Lilackat, Good luck on your surgery. I am being done the same day. I am getting very nervous as well. The people on these forums are a great help though. Saleel22
  3. Wow racetrackweary,You are incredible. I haven't been banded yet but I don't think I will be ready to go off running errands the next day. I always get very groggy from the aneasthetics when ever I have had surgery. Mind you I hope I do feel like that. Take it easy. I hope every thing goes really well for you. Saleel22
  4. Hi Gingerbug, I hope you are feeling well and not in too much pain. I have all this to look forward to on the 16th. I hope every thing goes smoothly for you on this new journey. Saleel22
  5. Good Luck for tomorrow SuzanneG. Saleel22
  6. Good luck Dazzle, I hope you get your surgery on the date that you want. I am being banded on the same day in Australia. Saleel22
  7. Hi HeatherDee, You will find it is addictive reading these forums. That can be a good thing as long as you don't eat at the same time. ha ha. I find it helps having my hands busy typing. Good luck to you. Saleel22
  8. Hi Wowox7, Good luck for the 3rd. Hope everything goes really well for you. Saleel22
  9. Hi HeatherDee, You will find a lot of supportive people on here. You are being banded the day before me so good luck. I am on the Gold Coast. Saleel22
  10. Hi Natasha, I am being banded on the 16th Jan. These boards can have a wealth of information. The people on here are very supportive of each other.Good luck on your journey. Saleel22
  11. Hi Soozan, Tell your SIL to but out. It's your life. This is a tool just the same as a mix master is a tool for a baker so they don't need to mix with their hands or a carpenter uses a hammer ours is a lapband. Good luck to you. I am being done on the 16th. Saleel22
  12. Hi ovahkummer Just wanted to say good luck for the 3rd. I am being banded on the 16th. Saleel22
  13. Hi Amy, I have just looked at your blog. you are doing really well. I hope I do as well. I haven't told any one about going for this op for exactly the reason that I read in your blog. Having people asking how much have you lost and then giving you the look like you have been some how not doing the right thing. If clothes are now fitting you that means things are shifting and moving, don't worry about what the scales are saying. Good on you. Saleel22
  14. Hi Amy, The best thing to do is go to the seminar. You can find out a lot from doing that. I am being done on the 16th January and I have been doing heaps of research on the forums to find out as much as I possibly can. I am a little nervous but also excited. Make sure you know before being done what you can drink and eat before you have surgery. I have noticed that a lot of people on the forums don't seem to have a plan from their Drs. Good luck. Saleel22
  15. Hi Hilary, Good luck for your surgery on the 10th. Sounds like you had fun with the chicken soup. I haven't heard any one else say that they have actually liked it. Saleel22
  16. Hi Sades, 13 kilos is a good amount to have lost. It's nearly January so you will be able to get that fill soon. Good luck. Saleel22
  17. The good ol Gold Coast. Saleel22
  18. Hi Chezz, I kept this little story that I saw on another forum as I thought it was a very good explanation of the lap band. This was apparently from a surgeon to a patient. Well sure, the lapband tool is designed to make losing weight easier for people but isn't that the same with any 'tool' ???? Why should anyone judge us for that? So would someone say to a carpenter that using a nail gun is the easy way out when they should use a hammer? Would someone say to a baker that using a mixing machine is the easy way out when they should mix by hand? If a tool such as the lapband is available to us and makes losing weight easier (not saying EASY, but EASIER) than other methods and therefore saves our lives then whose business is it anyway? Probably the same judgemental people who make mothers feel guilt if they need pain relief in labour (as that's taking the easy way out rather than suffering!) geeez, some people should just find something more constructive to say. If we weren't supposed to use tools that make life easier for us then we'd all still be living in caves eating raw meat without cutlery! When eventually people find out about my op. this will be my answer if they have any thing negative to say. Saleel22
  19. This is another forum that you might be able to get some info. from. .net Saleel22
  20. Hi Thistledo & Chez, I'm on the Gold Coast Qld and am being banded on the 16th January too. I am lucky that my surgeon doesn't do the optifast thing for every one before surgery. I do have to use it after wards though. I tried the coffee flavour this morning in the blender with ice and it was good. Just like iced coffee. I haven't told any one about my surgery other than hubby as I don't want to go through all the "how much weight have you lost"questions that you always get if some one thinks you are on a diet. I'm having a "hernia". Hope to keep in touch with some other Aussies. Good luck to you both. Saleel22
  21. Hi to you all, I am also being done in January on the 16th. I am nervous and very excited about the changes it will bring. I can't seem to get enough of the forums. There are so many positives to having this surgery. There are some negatives but I think they are out weighed by the improvements the lap band can make to your health and life style. Good luck to every one. Saleel22
  22. Hi Chrisann, Good luck for Monday. Keep us posted on your progress. Saleel22
  23. Hi Nicole, Firstly good luck on being banded. How on earth did you do this without your husband knowing? Secondly why didn't you want him to know? I am finding it hard not to tell any one but at least my husband knows about it, I am counting on him for moral support.not only that he does most of our cooking so he has to know what I can have. Good luck to you. saleel
