  1. Hi Wheetsin, I'm not trying to be smart, really - I'm just wondering what is it that you are celebrating when you say holiday, if it is not religious, meaning the birth of Christ? What is a solstice tree? Once again, I am genuinely curious, I'm not trying to start anything, okay?
  2. What I get from it is that some believe (me included) the USA was founded upon Christianity, and they simply want to get back to that. It is their right to erect it just as it would be your right to erect a statue such as Wheetsin suggested, on your own property. I may find it disgusting but I can always look away.
  3. I disagree, "in my opinion" children are not burdens, they are precious little miracles! The "burden" is our lifestyles. Have a kid to "replace" myself??? Ok, that's a good reason to have a child.....wow. If my folks only wanted enough to replace themselves, I would not be here filling their lives with joy!! What you find illogical and ignorant, some find reasonable and respectful. It's all in the eye of the beholder, so what makes your feelings of this statue more important than those that feel the opposite?
  4. I'm wrong, you're right. I'm an idiot, you are a genius. MEEOW.
  5. I'm with you Kathy! It's hard to sit back and swallow all the disrespect, but it doesn't get us anywhere to defend ourselves either. We just get trashed a little more, and more, and more.....
  6. My dad was in the ARMY at the time of the Vietnam war, but he didn't get sent over there. Hmmm, he must be a war dodger too, or maybe he just followed the orders he was given, perhaps..... Sorry to irritate you that not every man/person in the military (at the time) went to Vietnam. I'll be sure to tell my dad that his service didn't really count if he didn't actually go into combat.
  7. WAY TO GO JIMMIE!!! WOOHOO!! Sorry, but I had too!! I am pleased partly because he's hot and an awesome driver, and partly because this also makes my man Jeff a winner too! It's all good!! It was a pretty good season, I can't believe it's over. Does anybody watch the banquet?
  8. AWW, that's fantastic! Good work!!
  9. I also have XM radio, and I love it! I keep mine on Top 20 or KISS. I thought it was commercial free also, but they are creeping in on KISS more and more, and I'm not happy about it.... I have read all the John Grisham books and the whole Left Behind Series except the last book. The LEFT BEHIND books are AMAZING and changed my life.
  10. This pisses me off too. The gas stations say they don't make any money on the gas anymore, bull crap. Well, I am glad that Rumsfeld is gone, this is a giant step in the right direction, I think. I sincerely hope that the Democrats and Bush can really work together on the issues, and produce results, progress. We need some unity up on Capital Hill.
  11. They have the polls in the SCHOOL??? While the children are there learning, people are voting?? That is odd, there is no where else to hold the elections that they have to do it in a school? I know I wouldn't like that to be done where I live, no way!
  12. This is insane!! I can't even believe it. :faint: :omg:
  13. Jack, between you and Leatha, I just revel in reading your posts. They are insightful and respectful and keep me wanting more.
  14. It's amazing that you would do that, how wonderful!!
  15. Could we be long lost sisters? This describes what my relationship was with my parents too. I am 32 but I came around when I was like 23 and starting actually being friends with my parents. I remember what being a teenager was like as if it was yesterday and I want my kids to be 100% the opposite!!
  16. I didn't start this thread because civility was lost in the other thread, in fact quite the contrary, it has remained surprisingly civil since politics usually bring controversy. Oh, and I don't appreciate your condescending tone, I didn't 'run away' I created this thread for a few different reasons. I definately disagree with this, we would have to (and did have to) DEFEND our views up and down and I wanted a place where I could just announce mine w/out having to defend or get called to the carpet with "they did this they did that, Iraq was a mistake, etc....." What's wrong with wanting to speak to people who feel the same as you? I can't expect go into a I Hate Bush thread and find people that LIKE him and turn it upside down trying to defend him. Thanks for the invitation, but I am not trying to segregate anybody, GEEZ, can't we all just get along? I will say again, I just wanted a place to come to express the opposite w/out hijacking an I hate bush thread. Thanks, and please come again!! :thankyou:
  17. Hey Jodi, girl you can't win around here. Good job trying to express your opinion, but as one stated earlier, they feel it is wasted on you. Keep on keepin' on, I hear what your sayin. Maybe I agree, maybe I don't, but I hear ya.
  18. Wow, I'm coming to you next time my kid won't listen to me! That is GENIUS!! I love the door off the hinges too! Good stuff!!
  19. Yeah, it's like having to choose the best of the worst......
  20. OMG, that is too funny! I will have to remember that one!!
  21. I think the issue about driving the kid around is based on a punishment that needs to be enforced, your situation does not apply since you were a responsible kid. This is about taking a car away for punishment, if that means inconvenience to me, so be it. I would do anything for my kids, tough love.
  22. That is so well put Leatha, you are always so well spoken. I wish I had the diplomacy and way with words that you do. :clap2:
  23. When I had my second baby, I remember the best gifts were the essentials. Diapers, baby lotion, bath soap, bath towels with the little hoodies. It is nice when you don't have to run to the store and get these for a while.
  24. I didn't say if you don't share my view you can't post here. Post away if you must. Maybe he is comfortable in those shirts, I really couldn't say why he wears them, I don't spend much time thinking about his wardrobe. I know I wear clothes that are comfortable. Just because you feel the war in Iraq was a mistake, doesn't mean he does. And if he doesn't, why would he say it was? People have difference of opinion all the time. But he has said mistakes were made in the war, hence my comment hindsight is 20/20. I know I have made disasterous mistakes in my past, too bad we all couldn't be as almighty as others. You sir are not going to change my mind and I am not going to change yours.
