List your lapband confessions here.
OK here goes........ I had one ice cream (low fat) on day 4 as we were out and I couldn't find anywhere that served Soup (and I DID try) I had half a twix stick because I was dying for some chocolate. I had half a milkshake. I had an oat bar which hurt when I ate a bite so I didn't eat it. And I had 2 chips (french fries). It looks awful when I write it down. Not even 2 weeks post op. It didn't feel that bad when i was doing it but now that I've seen it written down I'll be more careful.

Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!
I went home to visit family. Haven't been since before my band and everyone (even people who don't know about the band) commented on my weightloss. BMI has gone from morbidly obese to obese. My family are all big eaters and getting together is an excuse to stuff our faces I was able to resist everything (I'm still on liquids) so I was very proud of myself.

One week post op and feeling dizzy
Hi all. I was banded 2/26 and have been on a liquid diet since (soup, yougurt, juice etc). This morning when I got up I felt light headed and have felt that way all day. Today is my first day back in work (office job-not strenuous) but my brain is a bit muddled and I feel faint when I stand quickly or bend over? Do i need more Protein or would it be something else? Help!

Hacking up mucus
I had a very sore throat post surgery from the breathing tube. After about 3 days I started coughing and couldn't stop. Thought I was going to throw up but instead hawked up a huge plug of mucus and blood. Been fine since then. I think it is to do with the tube and some people get it, some don't.

Has Fern Britton Had A Band?
I don't think she has. Didn't she do some cycling trip recently in the desert? Plus her hubby is a chef so is probably able to cook low fat meals for her.

When did you start gaining weight
I put on some weight at 13 but was always about the 182 pound mark but I am tall. Then when I was17 I went to university and was working hard, partying and always broke so dropped to about 140. I couldn't believe I was attractive for the first time in my life as my friends were always the pretty ones while I was the "funny" one. At 20 I fell pregnant and was back to my pre pregnancy weight(about 160) within weeks of having my daughter. When she was 6 months old I had the contraceptive implant and gained 85lbs in 6 months! I got depressed and wouldn't leave the house and ate for comfort and over the next year I put on another 24lbs. I'm 25 now and have been trying for 5 years to lose the weight. Slimming clubs, weight loss pills, crash diets, gym etc. My appetite is huge though and my partner is really thin but he eats what he wants (usually junk food) so thats why I'm hoping the band will be the tool for me! So my target is 180 and I would be happy with that. If I could get lower than that great, but I won't worry if I don't!

being fat destroyed my body
I wouldn't really see the point. I had my daughter at 20 and only had a few stretch marks. Then I piled on weight and got loads all over my stomach, upper arms and thighs. I am planning to have more kids in a few years and would just be wary of shelling out so much money for a tummy tuck when it may be in the same condition in a few years. Some people get stretch marks when pregnant, some don't. It depends on your genetics and the baby size and position. Knowing my luck I'd have a tuck and then fall pregnant with twins and have as much saggy skin as before and have to get it done again. Also, and I'm not sure about this, but wouldn't a tummy tuck involve cutting through the stomach muscles in order to tighten them? Would this make pregnancy riskier? I had a c section and know that any future pregnancy is slightly higher risk due to the fact that the muscles aren't as strong. The fact that the uterus wall has been cut before also is an issue but that isn't relevant in terms of a tummy tuck.

Lump in my breast, was it always there but didn't notice from the fat
Go to your GP. I found a large lump before and went to the GP who told me I just have lumpy breasts. She explained the difference between the type of lumps and showed me how I basically had a matching one on the other breast. It is probably nothing to worry about but there is no point ignoring it either. Get it checked out and have your mind out at rest.

for Heliogast bandersters
Just had mine fitted last week. It's a 10cc band so it will probably take a few fills to get good restriction.

Are ther any other fellow banders this week?
Hi Michelle. I have been on any liquid since the op so long as it is not lumpy. So have been eating Soup, yougurt, fruit smoothies etc. 2 weeks post op I can eat mushy food (baby food in other words). Amazing how much it differs from person to person, doctor to doctor. As of this morning I am down 11lbs. Surgery was 5 days ago.

Are ther any other fellow banders this week?
I was banded 02/26 and ave the same feeling. Feel like I need to burp and want to force it out but feel like if I force it out I'll vomit. Had it less today than other days so I'm hoping that as the gas goes, the feeling will too.

Getting Banded on Feb 26 -- Anyone else?
Hi all, I'm doing good. Not much pain after day 2. A little uncomfortable and scars are itchy but not too bad. Have been able to stop taking pain killers and only had a little gas pain. Best news of all is that I've already lost 6 pounds since tuesday!!! Wahoo!! I'm still very bloated and look about 7 months pregnant but I'm sure that'll go once the swelling and gas goes!

Just got surgery date and scared
I have tried. Not as hard as I should have but a bit. If I had lots of willpower I wouldn't need the band! I have told 2 people about going for the band. My partner (he's coming with me) and my mom because she has to mind my daughter! I haven't told my sisters/friends or workmates. And for the very reason you described above. I've told work I'm have a hernia repair op. So when I come back the week after they won't be wondering why I'm sore.

Just got surgery date and scared
Hiya. I have the same date as yourself. I also have the same fears but less so as I have had 2 surgeries (one general anesthetic and one spinal block). I am afraid of going to sleep and not waking up but it's such a small chance. I'd be more likely to be killed in a car accident. Or of a heart attack in 20 years! You know you need to do this and it will be worth it. The chance of a serious complication is so small you need to weigh it up and acknowledge the risk. But also decide whether that small risk is enough to put you off. Best of luck! I'm actually more excited than nervous. Can't wait for my new life to begin.

Calling all February Bandsters!
Hi all. I'm Irish and have booked in for my op on feb 26th. Can't wait to get it over and done with. I'm really apprehensive and not sure what to expect. Telling work I have to get a cyst removed! Trying to keep the people who know to a minimum. I'm 25 with a 41 BMI and a 4 year old daughter.I was offered Valentines day as my op date but it is my daughters 5th birthday so I had to wait another week! Hoping to have more kids in the future and want to be in the best of health for it. Had post partum depression after having my daughter I piled on 6 stone (about 85 pounds) in 5 months. Have been trying ot lose it for 5 years and finally am financially able to afford the band (insurance in ireland won't cover the band full stop - you can't even get the procedure done here. I have to travel to Belgium) I'm sure it will be worth it and am being as optimistic as possible!!!!!!
