  1. Not sure if lemonade has the same effect as adding lemon or apple cider vinegar to your water, especially something like Wyler's that's likely more food coloring & sweetener than actual lemon. This doesn't taste sweet at all, it's really designed as a digestive aid. Why add ACV or lemon juice to water.
  2. @@Soon2BHealthyAggie - The Polar Loop does not count heart rate, it can be paired with a Heart rate monitor but I never bought it because I was told they don't track under water. However it does track steps and calories underwater. I was doing aquafit 4 -6 days a week as my main exercise so I needed it to count! The A360 has a built in heart rate monitor which is why I plan to upgrade.
  3. Sorry to hear about this but follow your doctor's orders. Give your body the rebound and rest time it needs. Then when you are cleared to work out, ease back in slowly. It sucks but you don't what to risk further damage and injury because of impatience.
  4. @@jane13 - I like to keep things as natural as possible. I've read that adding things like lemon juice or ACV to your Water is good for digestion. I already had it in the house since I also use it for cooking and shampooing my hair, so I just started adding it to my water on occasion. I like the taste so it really wasn't that big of a deal to me.
  5. That is odd. On a positive note, they must feel pretty sure that you will be approved because I can imagine them scheduling you for 2 procedures, taking up valuable OR time unless they were pretty positive of your approval.
  6. My doctor starts his patients on a 30 day course of colace from day 1 in the hospital. I had my first BM on day 5 post op. It was small and harder than normal, but it was to be expected. I did not have a pre-op liquid diet, just the usual NPO the day of surgery. My first food stage was Full Liquids, so mostly shakes, tea, broth. After my initial BM I managed to have 1 every day since. By 6 weeks out they were pretty much back to normal but only once a day. Now I go anywhere from 1 -3 times a day, but on avg twice a day. I am vegetarian so my diet is naturally high Fiber. During the Full Liquids stage I would add spinach to my Protein shakes. I was also eating Soup made from Beans pureed, strained and thinned with vegetable broth. I've never been constipated or had diarrhea.
  7. I think it was some where between 4 - 6 weeks. Until then I would crush them and hide them in almond butter
  8. Wait, you found a waterproof fitness band?!?! Which one? I have the UP 3 because it was originally supposed to be waterproof. It ended up being released as splash proof and slightly disappointing. If it was waterproof, it would be AMAZING! I have the polar loop and plan to upgrade to the polar A360. When I was researching I made it a point to look for water proof not water resistant.
  9. Dilute it down and add ice. Also check out some of the Protein drinks like Isopure Nocarb or Syntrax nectar.
  10. I was allowed, but I kept the fruit to minimum. So it would be either a half a mango OR a half a peach and a handful of spinach. I then added protein powder, water and ice. Just check with your nutritionist if this is allowed.
  11. I'd put mine at about a 1. It felt like I had done 1,000 sit ups the day before and my abs were sore. I was a little achy , but otherwise I felt fine.
  12. Are you taking any vitamins or supplements? It may be time to get some followup bloodwork to see if you need to add them in. Mine started me on multivitamin 2x's a day B12, Calcium Citrate and D3. They have been adjusted according to my bloodwork
  13. 1. What was your starting weight? Lower BMI 's can sometimes lose slower. 2. Are you meeting both Protein AND Fluid goals? 3. Embrace the stall. They are normal. They will happen. Sometimes for days and yes, sometimes for months. If you really think there is a problem call your nutritionist and make sure you're eating properly. Put the scale away. It's not your friend and will make you crazy. Log your food, measure your food. Hit those goals. The weight loss will happen.
  14. They work by sensing your movements and heart rate. It also tracks your sleep. Most of the popular activity trackers from $80 - $150. The UP2 currently on sale at Target is $69.99
  15. I'm gonna veg this up with soy crumbles instead of bacon. (Sorry, no food with faces for me.) I love beans. I just set the crock pot to cook overnight so the smell doesn't drive me crazy waiting for things to cook.
  16. Counseling sounds like a good idea. Over a year out I still attend my programs support groups. They are a tremendous help to me. I bookend my workouts with protein. Pre-workout a have either a potent protein shake with yogurt, protein powder and a bit of nit butter or something hearty like steel cut oats with a bit of protein powder added in. Post workout, I may have the rest of my protein drink and an ounce of nuts. It helps me not go into that crazy hungry mode after a work out and fuels me during my workout.
  17. Call your doctor and double check. Different doctor's have varying timeline for when patient can return to exercising. It also depends on how your body is healing. Get clearance from your doctor and then take it slow. Listen to your body so your don't injure yourself.
  18. @@Ms. Babyboo - LOVE The hospital and the program. I had Noel Williams as my surgeon. Everything went smoothly, no pain post-op, no complications. I had a private room. Staff was friendly and attentive. I adore Sam the nutritionist. I still go to the support groups from time to time.
  19. My story is similar. No 6mth monitoring just 3 mths of visits with my team. I used the time to have the various pre-op testing. I didn't have high BP or diabetes. I had mild arthritis in my left knee.
  20. You could start looking at programs and informational seminars. There may be a rep there that can answer insurance related questions like this.
  21. @@magtart - Not sure if it makes a difference but the Jawbone 2 are on sale at Target. I liked my jawboneUp24 but I needed something water proof for when Ii work out in the pool and I like having my info on my wrist.
  22. I have to say after seeing post from people vomiting from eating too fast, getting that stuck feeling or worse the foamies, I am glad I had to practice chewing and eating slowly pre-op. Just hang in there!
  23. Many people choose to avoid carbs or go low carb. I don't but it's not uncommon.
  24. Another Philly gal here. I had surgery at HUP as well. Have you picked a program yet?
  25. YAY!!!!!!! Congrats!
