  1. My BMI was 73 and I had a completely easy surgical and recovery process.
  2. Yep it's the dreaded 3 week stall. You aren't doing anything wrong. Your body is just adjusting to all the new changes. Continue meeting your Protein and Fluid goals. Try to get in some regular exercise. If the scale is making you crazy, put it away.
  3. I was prescribed omeprazole. I started at 20 mgs per day. Around month 3 I had to increase to 40 mgs. I also found it most helpful to take 2 -3 hours before. I would typically get it in the evenings, so taking it around 2 - 3 pm worked best for me. By month 6 I no longer needed it.
  4. Yes, but in moderation. I first had it again around 3 mths out. When I do have it I either air pop it or buy the skinny pop brand.
  5. wow mine didn't say rice was a no no for ever I'll ask when I see her on Tuesday but I wouldn't be able to live without rice , and everyone it's talking about the cauliflower rice I need to try it It's not forever, but you will want to limit it since it's a processed carb. Cauliflower rice is a good substitute and if you add the same seasonings like you would when making rice & Beans would probably taste pretty good. However that's still probably nothing you should have until at least 6 weeks out.
  6. Not at 7 days. Beans and rice will likely be one of the last things you can have. I know it's tough, but at 7 days post op there is very little holiday food you can partake of.
  7. That depends on you and varies person to person. I didn't have any post-op pain, just soreness. Others a few day, some a few weeks. One thing I know for sure is each day it gets better.
  8. I try to avoid even using the word "cheating". it's a dieting mentality and I don't want to diet anymore. Its why I still food log. I plan for everything I put in my mouth. Tonight I planned for a small slice of pie and a cup of tea. That why I could have it without guilt or shame. Tomorrow I will have a glass of wine because I am going out. I will adjust my eating for the day accordingly. Cheating, binging and dieting are a thing of the past for me.
  9. What type of struggle are you having? Throwing up, loss of appetite? If it's vomiting, is it certain foods or everything? Can you eat multiple small meals throughout the day? I would definitely start back with shakes and seek out medical assistance whether that be a gastroenterologist or a baritric specialist. Please keep us posted. I hope you can locate someone to help you.
  10. @@sbg224 - get some flax powder or psyllium powder. Add a tsp to yogurt, applesauce , etc... each day. Make sure you get all your fluids in. It will help regulate. Try to get some fesh veg or fruit in at least once a day.
  11. I was warned against putting anything other than warm Water on the incisions until they scabbed. Alcohol, peroxide and neosporin can actually retard healing. Once they scabbed I use scarfade gel because I tend to keloid. My scars were raised and red. The scarfade gel flattened them. After that I used bio oil because I had a free sample, but mostly I use virgin cold pressed coconut oil. Except for the large incision the rest are barely noticeable. I first used scarfade gel after I had facial shingles. It worked miracles. I had shingles in 2010. The dermatologist recommended this. I went from this to this I have a barely discernible scar on my nose. I swear by scarfade gel.

  13. Hang in there! This is prime losing time. Go for broth or non chunky soaps with a bit of unflavored protein powder. Months from now this period will feel like a distance memory.
  14. @@Angry Banana - sounds like you are doing fine. Some people do have issues with water. You can try varying the temperature and see if that helps.
  15. By liquids you mean fluids? Sounds okay, but I would call the doctor about the other symptoms. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry. Not every doctor follows the exact same protocol. OP mentioned that per her program she was on soft foods.
  16. I ate a lot of spicy foods pre-op. I had no problems returning back to them. I was adding a splash of sriracha to my soup during the full liquids stage. I stopped using it when I had a bit of acid from around months 3 -6. No sense eating something that could potentially make things worse. Now I can use it so problem. For the most part I've had a cast Iron stomach throughout the entire process. Nothing really upsets my tummy.
  17. It would end up looking like tomato soup. You need diced tomatoes or salsa for presentation & mouth appeal for non Bariatrc folks.
  18. GNC is having a sale. I was there last night. The bottle were buy 3 get one free. I also use the ibotta app (referral code blyssq)and they are offering $5 cashback when you spend $25 at GNC. Regardless of what brand you try, always save your receipts. Any unused Protein can be returned with a valid receipt.
  19. Do a layered bean dip. Sour cream (or plain greek yogurt. It taste the same and is full of protein), pureed black beans ( you can toss some whole ones in for presentation but skip them when your eat), guacamole. Top with a layer of diced tomatoes (you skip those) and shredded cheese. Your guest can dip chips and veg into and eat, you can eat all the soft layers. If you do it in a glass dish the colors look nice too.
  20. @@Susan Lewis - As long as the surgeon is aware of this, they can work around that.
  21. YAY! Glad all went well. Take it easy. It may still be the pain meds haven't fully worn off yet.
  22. @@Daisee68 has a god idea, maybe try a Protein or Vitamin Water. Sometimes the clear drink are easier to tolerate. Maybe pick up one bottle of Isopure No Carb and try it.
  23. I agree with everyone else. It appears fried foods are no longer an option for you.
  24. It's not unusual, but it's not typical. If the nausea meds you are taking aren't working after day 7, call the doctor back. You may need a different or stronger med.
  25. What was your starting weight and what's your current weight? ETA: Just reread you earlier post. So you've lost 14lbs since surgery? That's actually pretty normal.
