  1. I choose the sleeve because: I wanted a slower weight loss I didn't want to reroute with bypass Lap band didn't seem like a good fit my BMI I was told it might alleviate some of my other chronic conditions I'm vegetarian with multiple food & medicine allergies. I thought a malabsorptive procedure would be too limiting
  2. They'll likely have you in a hospital gown so you probably won't get to use yours. For walking they'll give you another gown to wear backwards. Don't worry about the gas pains. Not everyone gets them. I had none.
  3. Take minimum belongings to the hospital. I took a large pair of panties to wear home, a toohbrush, my iPhone, IPad & charger. I was started on colace stool softener and omeprazole for acid in the hospital. Walk ASAP. I walked in recovery. I experienced no gas at all. really try to gauge your pain level. I was sore like after a good work out, not really in pain. I didn't use the morphine pump. I think it helped me stay clear headed enough to walk more in the hospital. However do not try to be a hero, if you need pain meds, use them. Go slow when sitting up. It will ease any uncomfortableness and make it less likely that you will get dizzy or nauseous. Mostly stay positive. This is an easy surgery! Welcome to the loser's bench!
  4. It's simple. Stop posting in the thread and it will fall off. Every time someone comes in to wag a cyber finger it bumps the topic up.
  5. Lucerne is Safeway's local brand.
  6. I plan to purchase a Vitamix because I cook and will get more use out of it than just smoothie making. If someone just want to blend their Protein drinks they don't need one.
  7. I'm a vegetarian with food allergies. I always bring my own food. If I can trust the person who made it, I may partake of a bit of salad. You can always just say, "Sorry I'm on a diet".
  8. You just have to adjust to the food there. I know it's challenging, but from what I know of the Middle East they do have tasty things like hummus and yogurt. A quick google gave me this and I believe the region has plenty of dairy and poultry. Not a lot of processed food, but plenty of good choices to support a bariatric diet.
  9. @@amponder - Yup, kick her to the curb. You don't need her harshing your buzz as you do you workout. You workout at YOUR pace. It's fine to work to increase you pace, but you do so at your pace, not MIL's dictates.
  10. I prefer the nutrabullet because I sometimes also add fruit and veg to my smoothies. Blends really well. My next purchase will be a vitamix. However if you just want something to mix smoothies. Oster makes a smoothie blender for about $20
  11. You're still healing so it's not surprising that vomiting caused pain. Take it easy for tonight, it pain persist call your doctor in the AM.
  12. Programs vary. Always confirm with your doctor.
  13. Just watch it closely to make sure it clears up. By the 30th if it doesn't like it's gone away contact your PCP and make sure your bariatric team is aware. Better a delay then a serious complication during on post-op.
  14. Sounds like you are drinking too fast. Try taking a sip, then wait 2 minutes. Take another sip, then wait again, and so on.
  15. You could probably do that by replacing 1 meal with a protein shake and eating clean.
  16. I've not tried it but maybe you need to make a slurry before mixing it in something hot. Just take a tbsp of water or liquid and whisk the scoop of powder into the liquid adding more liquid until it's all dissolved. Then you can add the rest.
  17. Make your own. It's easy enough. For veg I roast vegetable in evoo for extra flavor then simmer on low until the veg is falling apart. Cool, drain the solids off (I save them a puree into a paste to use as a base for Soups later) For Beef, chicken, seafood. saute onions/garlic is a tiny bit of evoo, add meat/bones or seafood cover with Water and simmer until the meat is falling off the bone. Again drain off solids. You can add any seasons you want. Best yet,you control the amount of sodium. I usually end up with about 3 quarts so I freeze most of it to use as I need.
  18. I like Kind bars but at 200 calories they are definitely Meal Replacements. I also use them as post workout food. I just heard that the folks who make my favorite vegan cookie ABC Cookies (a cookie so good you won't know its vegan) has just come out with a low carb/high Protein cookie. I'll check them out when I go to Whole Foods next week.
  19. When were you sleeved? I personally don't believe in cleanses. That's what your liver and kidney do. I can understand people wanting to take a break from eating junk after the holiday's but just cut out the junk and eat some fruit and veg, preferably raw. I can't imagine anyone newly sleeved needing a cleanse. You just cut out most of your tummy, again what's left to cleanse?
  20. At 3 days out the focus is on getting in all the Protein and Fluid. Your nutritionist should have given you list of foods you can eat at this stage. I was on full liquids and could add a tsp of nut butter or pureed fruit to my yogurt.
  21. Yep, it's the medical definition of having weight above a certain BMI.
  22. Are you still on the anti-biotic? The cellulitus should be cleared up by February. You've still got time. Closer to the date make sure you make the surgeon aware of any meds you're still on. They should be able to perform the surgery but you want to let them know so there aren't any counter-interactions with the anesthesia and pain meds they give you for surgery.
  23. I've been using scarfade gel since my incisions scabbed over. I already knew I tend to keloid and I previous used the gel for the pox marks and scarring on my face from a really severe bout of shingles. The gel is pricey, but I already knew it would work well on me. I have also heard about a process called Venus Freeze that a few of my make up friends have recommended. Dermabrasion might also assist with scar removal. If you do any treatments like Venus Freee or Dermabrasion, please do your due diligence and make sure you get a licensed esthetician or dermatologist.
  24. Not sure who said that but there's not a big difference between white rice and bread. It would be just as much of a slider food. However a brown, red or black rice would be more of a complex carb because you'll get Fiber with it and it's less processed than white rice. I've had brown rice once since surgery, but I kinda have a taste for some black rice. I burp like a longshoreman now. No bubbles or upset stomach, just really loud, rude burps.
  25. I was wondering. I'm nearly 4 mths and I have a glass of eater when I wake up, a Protein shake for Breakfast, a small meal typically 4-6 ounces for lunch. I think spend most of the afternoon drinking Water and then another small meal for dinner and I am stuffed. No way could I eat all of that AND drink at 3 weeks out. Getting your water in will also help with constipation.
