  1. @@fredawyatt - I don't think so but it doesn't sound very enjoyable. Have you spoken with your nutritionist? You don't mention how far along you are. She might be a better guide.
  2. @@MDB9/16/14 - I was sleeved on 9/18/14. We might be able to help you a bit more if you could give us an example of what a typical food day for you is like. If you want to friend me on MFP my username is Milaxx. I'm not sure how much help viewing my diary will be because I'm vegetarian, but you could probably swap some of my Proteins for lean meats.
  3. Agreed. A vitamix is a wonderful thing. I plan to purchase one myself. However if you're only going to make smoothies or you don't cook, just buy a smoothie maker and save your cash.
  4. My surgery was laparoscopic with robot so they may have used this on me as well.
  5. Track your food. Honestly the small amounts we can eat, especially at your stage make it difficult to over eat but tracking may put your mind at ease.
  6. @@Georgia - It will still give you that warning if you eat under 1,000 calories a day (females).
  7. Funny story. I was with my cousins this weekend. One of my 2nd cousins is considering surgery at another hospital here. She used to work at the hospital where I had my surgery and asked who my surgeon was. When I told her Dr. Williams, she replied,"Oh he's FINE!" (he is very in that silver fox sort of way). Anyway we had a nice chat and of course she had been told about how much pain there was and I assured her I had none. We're going to get together and compare note so I can help her with the pre-op diet. I also invited her to join the gym and take Water aerobics with me.
  8. I haven't either. I had that stacking stuck in the esophagus feeling once. Otherwise I've been okay.
  9. @@Peace Love & Sleeve What swallow test? Barium swallow?
  10. Looks like only New England got anything close to a blizzard. I barely had an inch in front of my house. I just swept and salted the sidewalk. No shoveling needed.
  11. @@brebbugbrielle4 - You've got the right attitude. You do you and keep it moving! Stay positive! It makes everything easier.
  12. I haven't had one but if they are telling you have someone drive you home they likely are given you a light anesthetic.
  13. Try sucking on ice. You'll eventually be able to gulp, but early on your tummy may not like it.
  14. @@boosh10 - check wot your NUT. Mine doesn't like gummies since they are often not complete. After 6 weeks I didn't worry about chewable or crushing pills. Since swallowing pills has never been an issue for me I just swallow.
  15. @@JamieLogical - both dark green leafy veg and sweet potatoes contain protein. That's one of the differences between a simple carb and a complex carb. Whole grains such as farro and quinoa are also good sources of protein as well as good sources of fiber.
  16. I tend to think of grazing as mindless eating. Just a bit here and a bit there. To me that's different than eating say 3 meals and 2 small Snacks or 5 small meals a day.
  17. @@JamieLogical - I am not anti-carb but I am anti simple carbs. I mostly avoid "white carbs" such as white potatoes, refined sugars & processed foods, white bread, Pasta, white rice. I prefer complex carbs such as those found in Beans and veg, even brown rice, whole grains or sweet potatoes. As for Proteins, I don't care for the flavored Protein drinks. Too many artificial sweeteners and dyes that I am allergic to. I use Isopure unflavored and add it to my coffee, tea, yogurt or Soup. I even added some to my oatmeal this morning.
  18. What did your nutritionist recommend? I was still on purees at 3 weeks but each program has a different set of protocols and dietary restrictions.
  19. 1400 calories? At 6 weeks? I don't know many people on maintenance eating that much. My recommendation would be just meet the Protein and Fluid goals of 60 & 64 and get in your workouts. Eat slowly so that what you do eats stays down. Perhaps friend a few people on MFP and look at what they are eating. I'm about your height and at a much higher weight and I am losing steadily. I find that it helps to get the bulk of my protein in early in the day. This allows me time to sip Water and not feel rushed or pressured to get the rest of my protein in.
  20. I was told it's fairly common the first 6 mths to a year. My doctor started me on 20mg per day for the first 90 days. Around the time I started adding back foods I found I needed to increase it to 40mg. We're going to try that for another 90 days and see how things goes. Since the alternative is heartburn that could lead to ulcers, I prefer to take the PPI at least for the time being. Why be uncomfortable when you don't have to?
  21. I've used everything from One a day to KIND to Centrium. SO far my bloodwork has all back perfectly fine.
  22. It's hard to feel satisfied during the all liquid phase. The desire to chew perfectly normal. However yes, acid can mimic hunger pains so make sure you're taking your PPI. Once you move onto purees and soft foods, you'll feel more satisfied. I'm 4 mths and yes I do feel hunger, but I also get full quickly and both the desire and ability to over eat is gone.
  23. Agave isn't fake. Just make sure you're buying the real thing. One of things I did was look begin to teach myself portion control. I wanted to eat as normally as possible. Otherwise it would feel like just another diet to me and I'm done with diets.Raw honey is my sweetener of choice but I don't drink coffee or tea daily and I don't eat a lot of sugar added foods. A tbsp of honey doesn't drastically change my numbers. Yesterday I had 929 calories 57carbs 47fat 75protein 1,127sodium 26sugar. Those are numbers I can live with. More importantly I can lose weight with those numbers. Some people like it, some don't. I personally find agave too sweet for my taste so I rarely use it.
