  1. :lol:If I was in my 20's, I'd worry about how "the girls" were hanging. As a mid 40's girl, I just want them to look good in my VS underwire! The unfill felt great and I was able to eat again. However, I did put back on a couple which I expected but I'm not happy about. If I can't get them off by my next appt. which is Monday, I may get a small fill of .25.

  3. Good for you, Foofy! My weight loss has stalled since my unfill. I definitely am too ambitious when I set my challenge goals. Are you doing anything differently?
  4. Judy, so glad you're in a better frame of mind. The band was a helpful tool for you to get off 44.5 lbs but it was you that did it. Try to find a plan you can stick with, keep walking and I bet you can continue to lose. Please don't give up because you're unbanded. I used to manage a few Nutri/System weight loss centers about 18 years ago. Banding did not exist and many of my clients lost over 100 pounds. The ones who kept it off excercised and stuck to a maintenance plan. Of course the band makes it easier which is why we all put ourselves through hell to have one. But...we could have still lost weight without it. It just takes more discipline and persistence. I wish I was as focused as my successful clients. I wish I lost weight without the band. I counseled many people who were losing weight when I didn't have any weight to lose. Now that its me, I have a new found respect for them. I know that we are all capable of getting this weight off without the band but it makes it easier. You can still do this. You're more than halfway through your journey. Stick with us. We're all in this together.
  5. Well, I also put back on a couple of pounds since my unfill. I did expect it. I had lost about 10 pounds in 10 days from being too tight. I waited to get the unfill until I was about to pass out from no food. I think I was only getting in about 400-500 calories/day in liquids. Once I started eating normally again, about 1000-1200 calories/day, my body horded the calories. That's normal. It takes a while for the body to adjust and get out of starvation mode. Now if I'm really careful, the weight should slowly start to come off. Just be more careful and the extra pounds will disappear when you get your fills. We have to watch what we eat and not expect the band to do all of the work. I would be happy to eat chocolate ice cream all day which never gets stuck, unless I just got filled, but I won't lose any weight that way.
  6. That's great, Kendra! I know that the PET scan will give you more good news. I'm so glad that you are feeling so much better. Enjoy your vacation. It sounds wonderful!
  7. Shalee, thanks for the info. I would think that a Beverly Hills doc would be extra pricey but then again, if he's someone who works on celebrities he should know his stuff. I agree with not making the cost your deciding factor in something like this. Let me know how your next 2 appts. go.
  8. Judy, I am so sorry that you lost your band! Perhaps, the erosion looked like an unlocked band on the x-ray. I can't imagine what you felt when they told you. I agree with Craig, Sades, & Kelly. We are here for you no matter what! We all started this journey together and you're not done with yours. Your band helped you lose 45 pounds. You are more than halfway to goal and can still get there without the band. Yes, it will be more difficult but you proved that you could keep the weight off with no restriction. Perhaps with another weight loss plan those last 30 pounds or so will come off. Judy, you have shown that you are strong and determined. Don't let the loss of your band prevent you from accomplishing what you started. I know that I speak for everyone that we are your support group regardless of whether you're banded or not. And if you choose to maintain where you're at now, we are still here for you. Take the time you need to heal from surgery and mourn the loss of your band. I'm sure that being self-pay adds to the pain. If you can't visit with us right now, we understand. But please know that we are here for you whenever you're ready to come back. We will miss you. Please don't stay away too long!
  9. All is forgiven, TX! :biggrin2: I don't even remember that thread. I wasn't posting consistently back then. Oh well, I'm here for good now!
  10. Linda, I was embarrassed after my Cape Cod food holiday too. The nurse practioner said I beat myself up so badly, she didn't need to say a word! I had gained 3 pounds from that 5 day foodfest and lost it in 24 hours after the fill. Now that I had some unfilled, hunger has returned and I put back on 2 of the 10 I lost. I expected that. I knew that as soon as I took in a few more calories, my body would hold onto them. Now I have to be really careful to keep the rest off and start to lose again.
  11. Hey Bandpal, where can I buy a jersey? The other Cindy and I came up with a cheer for Sades. Well, I started it and Cindy finished it! Yep, Sades definitely is an AllStar!!!
  12. Best of luck, Judy! I'll be thinking of you!! Check in as soon as you can and let us know that you're OK. You'll be melting again before you know it!
  13. Hey TX, what gives?! You forgot about me! Banded on the 1st and still here...daily!
  14. I hit Onederland last week after a supertight fill. I had to have a bit unfilled today but I did go down to 195. It was a rough week but I never want to see that "2" at the beginning of my weight again!!
  15. Bandpal, how did you feel those 2 weeks after your last fill? It sounds like you had as much trouble as me. Did the swelling go down by then and you could eat something? Were you weak and dehydrated? I wanted to wait it out too but by last night, I knew it was impossible. Thanks for your good wishes. Good luck on your next fill!
  16. Thanks, Cindy. I do feel better and you're right. I don't have to be in such a rush to get the weight off that I feel terrible and sick in the process. The nurse said that she barely recognized me today. I'm usually energetic and talkative during our visits and today I could barely speak coherently. She told me that waiting it out like I did could have landed me in the hospital. Lesson learned!
  17. :cool2::thumbup: Don't know if you meant for that to be funny, Sades, but that cracked me up!!
  18. Shalee, did the ps doc say how much more you will need to lose before he does the surgery? What will the TT cost? Is there any way to get insurance to cover it? I heard that insurance covers for some band patients if the overhang is causing rashes or yeast infections. I wouldn't do my arms. I don't think visible scars are a good trade. I scar badly and it takes a long time for them to fade. My band surgery scars are still thick and dark pink.
  19. Wow, what a difference .25 can make! I can drink easily and can even get down a little mushie food. What a relief! Apparently, I was all swelled up inside which was causing the gas bubble. The nurse practioner said that if and when I get another fill, we should only do .25 from now on. She said some people can only handle .10 at a time. I only need to get an x-ray if I'm having trouble in a few days. I really need to be careful not to put back any of the weight I lost this week.
  20. Shalee, you're doing great! What did the ps surgeon have to say? I'm thinking a tummy tuck might be for me too. Can't wait till I'm actually ready for that!
  21. Cindy, This is why I put the fill off for so long. I had issues with the last one but not this bad. I posted on my other thread that today I can't get down more than clear liquids. Its like the band closed off the stomach almost completely. I just spoke to the nurse practioner who gave me my fill. She's going to unfill .25 tomorrow morning. I'll let you know if it works. If I'm still having trouble, they will do an x-ray.
  22. I called the doc tonight because I now can't swallow anything other than clear liquids. The nurse practioner who gave me my fill called back. I have a 9:30 am appt. tomorrow. She will unfill .25 and see if I do better. If not, then they'll x-ray. She did say that even .25 can make a big difference. I hope so. This has gotten ridiculous. She is happy for me that I got under 200. I'll check in after the unfill. Can't wait to actually eat something!
  23. Jill, you should be almost at your summer meltdown goal! We have the same final weight goal, 130. I haven't been down there for 11 years. I can't wait and I have no patience for dieting which is why I let this fill go for this long. I'll see if only taking out .25 will be OK. I have a feeling that they will want to remove the whole .5 and wait till my tummy settles down. If I get another fill after this, I'll ask for only .25.
  24. Jill, 7 pounds lost in a week is amazing! I would have been more than happy with that. How can .25 make such a difference? I'm wondering if I'm still swollen from the fill which is causing my problem. Instead of trying to guess, I will take care of this tomorrow. I can't wait to eat solid food. Mushie food would be a welcome change!

More than I lost 10 days after surgery. I'm done with this fill. I can't even keep a thin shake I got from the doc's down. Before this gets as bad as Linda's problem, I'm calling the doc tomorrow and getting an unfill and maybe an x-ray. .5 should not have taken me from being able to eat too much to not at all. The fast weight loss was fun while it lasted but today I feel weak and tired from lack of nourishment. This taught me a lesson. I was probably tight enough before the fill and need to learn how to work with my band better. I was expecting it to do all the work and stop me from eating. Time to take more responsibility. At least this craziness got me under 200.
