Hello my name is Kari and I live in Chicago. I am currently in the process of getting the sleeve. I would totally love it if I could get some of the stories of before and after. I'm 38,years old with diabetes and high blood pressure and low thyroid. My current weight is almost 350. The question I have is how many of you have had one or all these and then after surgery they are gone? Does that even happen? I have so many questions that I would like to ask.

Hey All I close to the 6 week post op mark (6 weeks on 10/31)
I find myself Stuggling with the same thing I love pintrest and never thought of looking up receipes for GVS i am excted to hear that!
My thing is i dont properly plan for my work day.... I need to go grocery shopping and really portion out some Snacks and meals I barely eat during the day... One meal a day sort of thing.... I try to finish One Protein Shake and thats a struggle, as the desire to drink anything isnt there. somedays depending on my physically activites i dying of thirst and cant get my crystal lite down quick enough,.... and like most days here at work I can barely drink.
I weighed in this morning and after a stall of about 2 weeks Im down to 231.9 starting weight was 277.4 . so im doing something right.
I also agree eating jumk is so mental. and if you cheat tell yourself I can turn this around and dont cheat forawhile make up for the cheating. or give yourself a good workout. try to read or catch a good movie to get yourself off wanting bad yummies (LOL OXY-MORON right There) lol but there are great alternatives for the bad stuff.... Im still on sugar free sweets (pudding and popsicles, diet snapple and any flavor sugar pkts to add to water) which really curb my sweet tooth.... but overall your doing great and I really dont think anyone really expected the unexpected ! in the sense of what we used to eat to now curbing everything is very hard. so you made it this far. and all of this will pass.... Good Luck all we are doing so Good, even with the little slip-ups. cause I know I have them too

The heart has four chambers and is red. Research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopene and are great for your heart and blood flow.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and are also a profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neocortex. Walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocados, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in two when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the amount of sperm to overcome male sterility.

    Onions clean the body
Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

You can have "real" food, only you won't be able to eat much of it, and most things you ate before will make you sick. So proceed with caution...

Not sure what you are eating that you think will stretch your sleeve? I was sleeved on Sept 19th and am doing great. Yes, I miss real food and am trying to slowly introduce real food. Have you been on Pinterest? There are many great recipes on there for Gastric Sleeve. Try things that are good for you until you find something you like and that is good for you.
I used to love watching the food channel and reading cookbooks. DO NOT DO THIS! It is too hard now.
Keep the faith and keep working what you have been taught and get sugar free Popsicles. They are great and I eat 8 a day at least. Really curbs my appetite.
Good luck. I wish you the best! Attaching a great Cookbook you should try.

I feel like I want "real" food and I've tried to....get very uncomfortable and even to the point of feeling like I'm going to be sick ... I don't think i'm getting enough Protein and I KNOW i'm not getting all of my Water down ....
I don't want my sleeve to stretch and I'm afraid I might be doing that? am I worrying to much about this?
I've had some of the foods I shouldn't be having and I'm afraid I'm falling back into bad habits....
Has anyone experience with this? how have you overcome it or got back on track?
any comments would be great ... there's to much at steak for me to mess this up...
    hope everyone's doing well

I just came out of a 2 week stall. After I got home from the hospital I went from 228 to 237. But I kept tracking and monitoring everything I ate and drank. It is finally starting to come off again.
I also got really sick during this time and could not walk. They have me on prednisone now and the pain is gone. So I have had minimal exercise during this past month.
I am just so happy that I did this and feel blessed. Every day really is a gift!!!

My surgery date was September 17, so tomorrow is my surgiversary, too. So far I've lost 34 pounds. I would NEVER have been able to lose this weight without my sleeve. I couldn't even make it through the 2 week pre op diet without having a moment of weakness here and there. (I lost 10 pounds but gained 2 back during a cookout we had) Now, when I get hungry I eat but only very small amounts. For anyone curious as to what I've been eating. .....I eat the following items but not every day.
Cottage cheese, string cheese, Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt (the caramel apple is to die for, lol), sugar free pudding with Unjury chocolate Protein powder mixed in, Progresso Light chicken and Cheese Enchilada Soup with Unjury unflavored 1/3 packet protein powder mixed in, tuna fish, Egg beater Southwestern style egg white omelet with grated cheese , boiled eggs, and occasionally an Atkins bar or treat but usually only about once a week. I never seem to finish anything and usually put it in the fridge for later but end up throwing it out. Appetite is easily curbed with just a few bites....Also, I write everything that I eat down in a notebook along with the time I ate it and the calories, carbs, and protein. That way I can keep track of what I am eating and how many carbs and protein I'm getting. I keep my daily carbs under 20 grams a day. Well, that's about it. Good luck, everybody!

    Hey all SEPTEMBER SLEEVERS !!!!!
Im 28/F Sleeved on 9/17 in chicago Tomorrow will be my 1 month Surgiversary ! Im excited so Far I am able to intake far more liquids then I can eat. so far about 1 11 oz Protein shake my choice is the Atkins mocha latte ( doing the atkins diet BTW)
Im on The Soft foods phase trying a new thing at a time due to me having horrible dumping syndrome to almost everything.
    stats: pre-op: 277
    Day of Surg: 262
    Current wt: 244.8
My weight has currently stalled. or it can move up to 248.3 ish
this is the worst part at this step for me I try so hard no to weigh myself daily but im fixated lol...
Overall being able to eat a few normal things lunchmeat. cheese , grapes. alittle lettuce has gotten me out of my little post surgery blues that I was feeling.
No more pain at all. I have ordered a Corset for waist training as this is very common after having surgery ( I had a c-section in 2008)
overall I feel great Im down 2 pants sizes !
only thing I regret with this stall is not taking my measurements and I know my overall body mass has gone down even though the scales says otherwise ! (there is a light at the end of this tunnel ) I am so happy for all of you on here and sharing your stories is so much support!
please keep posting on your journeys as I will do so Also !!!!!

I was sleeved on Tuesday and surprised at how little pain I had...other than the gas which was horrible! As for food I have to say I don't think I realized how serious my issues with food were until now. Just knowing that it's not physically possible that I'm hungry so whatever agony I'm in is totally head hunger and it's pretty intense. I've got another 14 days of Clear liquids and so far the issues I'm having the most are:
    1. Keeping up with my Fluid. I'm pretty sure I'm dehydrated but it's rough. Feels like drinking is my job now. lol
    2. Being around other people who are eating. My boyfriend has been amazing but he can't pretend he doesn't eat forever.
I know I should be over the moon ecstatic that this thing I've wanted for so long has finally happened but for some reason I just feel...blah. Anyone else experiencing this?
On the plus side...I'm down 16 pounds from my in hospital weight (which was about 6 pounds higher than my pre-op weight...I chalk it up to Fluid and gas)

You are not going to care about recipes next week!!! But , I have to say, pepper on my chicken broth and strained cream Soups was awesome, and a great change from sweet shakes. Get supplies together if you haven't for your first week or two home... Protein, ready to drink protein (vanilla allows the most creativity) sf Jello and Popsicles, broth....my fav is swanson's Mexican tortilla which I mix with cream soups, and pepper.. sugar free apple cider, hot chocolate, instant Decaf for flavoring, freeze some banana to add to shakes, crystal light and miso, chewable vitamins You will have time to gather recipes, but mostly, you will be flavoring up your shakes ( orange jello powder and vanilla protein makes nice creamsicle when blended with ice). pumpkin and or spices to vanilla then frozen makes a fake ice cream. Good luck and keep us posted!!

I was at creamed Soups on my 2nd week. But I would be more worried about why you jumped ahead. Remember its only for a short time your on liquids. You CAN do this! Get back on track and follow your plan. You'll do great!
