I miss the excess sweating, heavy breathing after climbing the stairs and the chub rub. Most of all, the chub rub.

I don't know if I will miss anything specifically about being fat, but I worry that I won't feel like "me" anymore. Does that make any sense? My size has always been a part of my identity. It's how I've seen myself and how others have seen me and I worry that I may feel like I've lost a piece of who I've identified as for my entire life.

I deal with insurances all day. You most definitely have the right to know what is going to be covered and what is not. If they are asking for cpt codes etc. you can get that from the surgeon's office. If you don't get anywhere with a regular rep demand to speak to their supervisor. Unfortunately, half of these reps don't really understand the information you are asking.

Although I despise pix of myself I included one just as proof! My NSV is walking into the employee store & being able to buy a large fitted tee & having it actually fit! A year ago I never would've worn this....mainly cause it would've fit better around one of my thighs then my core
    GO DUCKS!!!!

    About the stall...
Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

ORsleeveMom reacted to SuperDave in Why is this awful stall bothering me so much?
THE STALL WILL BREAK! I know it is discouraging. I just went through a 3 week long stall, followed by a 10 pound drop in the last week. It will happen! Stay off the scale. Follow your diet. Exercise! Increase your walking, workout or whatever by 5-10 minutes a day. It will make a difference, and the more you do it the easier it gets. It happens to everyone! Worrying about it doesn't change anything. It will break.

That's it. I'm done. I can't take any more of this rational, honest talk from SOME people. I'm leaving this site, and never coming back! Just thought I'd announce it, too, for a more dramatic flair!!

Yes. This used to happen to me the first 4-6 weeks post op. Here was a discussion I found online that explained why.

Oh my gosh, I was JUST a part of this conversation on Wednesday!! A woman at my work (RNY 3/13/13) was saying that her heart races too!! She said she happened to be on one of the Bariatric Facebook pages when another woman posted about it, and she got quite a few responses. This IS something that happens to WLS patients. Carol (the woman at my work) said it happens to her when she seems to eat too fast.
Definitely mention it to your surgeon, but just know that you are NOT alone with this.

Just wait until the pot heads get to fatty status from all the munchies. Then there will be change.
I'm not apologizing if that offended anyone. Get over it. It's a joke.

Find out if the hospital you are going to has a financial assistance program. The hospital that I work for offers assistance for qualifying households. Its worth asking about.

No preaching? Are you serious? REALLY?!! Maybe you're just goofing around and trying to get a rise out of people who are working hard on their program. I hope so (although that would mean you're a jerk). But if you're truly only ten days out, I'd put your chance of success at around zero. I really wish you the best in this journey, but you're gonna need to get your head screwed on straight. You've gone through too much already to just throw it away catching a buzz.
Please prove me wrong – I'd love to have to apologize!

ORsleeveMom reacted to EnjoyingInsanity in Not Really Insane
First of all I’m not insane and let me explain my profile name. There is an old joke where the doctor asked his patient if anyone in his family suffered from insanity. The patient answers “No they all seem to enjoy it”. I always thought it was funny. I’m a 58 year old male who has been over weight since my late twenties. I was very active in my teens and early twenties and then got married. Suddenly I had this wonder person to go home to and that’s what I did. Now my wife is not in any way responsible for my obesity as I realize I was overeating long before we met. It’s my decision as to how and what I eat not hers. It’s just time and a change in lifestyle caught up with me. I remember when my doctor wrote “morbid obesity” on my diagnosis sheet. By the way me and the wonderful lady are still together after 37 years. I’ve done most of the diets over the years and lost and regained large amounts of weight. I’ve grown tired of that roller coaster and now want a tool to help me beat this once and for all. I know it’s not the easy way out though some will probably say it is. At this time I’m sad to say I’m preopt. I’ve completed the check sheet I was given and even an extra sleep study that was added. It turns out a male over age 50 with big neck and high BMI is at risk for sleep apnea. I believe I’ve started down this path early before the health went too far south. My surgeon says I’m in better shape than most of his patients. My goal is to become healthy and better able to enjoy life with my gal. My wife and I have been blessed with 3 grandsons and keeping up with them is quite a chore for me at this weight. If I become my wife’s trophy husband…well that’s okay with me. I've really enjoyed reading threads on this forum and have learned a lot from you all.
