3Pugaliers got a reaction from Dashofpixiedust8 in New here, constant nausea
One thing that I have not seen anyone else mention... I had terrible nausea and also wondered "what have I done???". When the zofran and other anti-nausea meds didn't work, my doc ran some tests and I ended up having my gallbladder removed. My sleeve was in September 2o14 and the gallbladder was removed in December. So it took about 3 months to figure it out but once the gallbladder was removed, the nausea was immediately gone. Since then I have lost 110 lbs and never looked back. Best thing I have ever done for myself!!
It's worth asking your doc about. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Sleevers.... I am 4 days post op. This list of what to take to the hospital was a great help. But there are two additional items that I took with me that were lifesavers. First was Biotene moisturizing mouth spray. My doc let me use this when I was still NPO after surgery. Thank goodness!! But be sure to clear that with your surgeon. Next was my back scratcher. The pain meds always make me itch a little...having a back scratcher was nice to have and I used it quite a bit.

Have you watched a video of the surgery yet?
If not, you might like to get up-close-and-personal with what happens to your poor little tummy during surgery.
    Here's a 7 1/2 minute video for you.
(Others may have other vids they think are better.)

Sleeved 9/30/2014 and best decision of my life and only wish I would have gotten over the social stigma of a "failed" dieter and done this sooner. At first I was not comfortable telling anyone that I had a surgery and as time went on and therapy for how I got to be morbidly obese I couldn't be prouder to say I was sleeved and I will answer anyone's questions. I am down 97 lbs, reached my personal goal and my surgeons goal and I couldn't be happier with that but I woul be lying if I didn't say I'd love to get to 100lbs lost. I have run 2 official 5k's, one 10k and my first half marathon will be in November. I have been a slow loser for the last two months but figured out calorie intake needed to increase and start losing again a little faster.
This time last year I couldn't make it up the stairs without breathing heavy. This surgery was a life saver for me both mentally and physically!

3Pugaliers reacted to glitter eyes in I love all the nice comments I get but...
I think some people just do not have a lot of tact. I did not keep my surgery a secret so I don't get the "are you sick comments".
However, some people ask how much I have lost or how much I weigh. Those nosy comments don't bother me. What really gets on my nerves is when someone says,"wow, your husband must be really happy now." For some reason that drives me crazy. I always say that I pride myself in being blessed with a marriage that is wonderful and happy no matter what. I try to keep in mind that the people who say that have probably never had a relationship based on unconditional love.

Congrats everyone! We are doing great! I'm about 1.5 weeks away from 6 months post op and down 75lbs. Pants are falling off, shoes are too big and I found dimples on my face I haven't seen since I was a kid. Things are going well but slowing down a bit, but it's to be expected as I am less than 30 from my goal weight. Thankfully the Hair loss is starting to slow down. Apparently, I'm the only that can really notice as I was blessed with LOTS of hair, but the clumps that came out where scary.
Congrats to all of us :-)

I was sleeved on Sept. 30. I am down 85 pounds today. I've had a couple of short stalls but nothing that had me worried. But I can still barely eat anything. I can't even eat a whole egg at once. I'm getting about 35 gms of Protein a day and around 500 calories. I'm 5 months out and feel like I should be doing better than that by now. But I'm so thankful for the weight loss.

Honestly, and this may sound harsh, but it made me very angry. Here I'm doing everything in my power to get approved and she just threw her chance away. It also made it clearer to me why we are all made to jump through so many hoops to get authorization for surgery. Had she been made to jump through those same hoops she would have never qualified in the first place. Her excuses of never being told she had to lose weight while in the hospital, the scales being off, and the myriad rest, were simply examples that she never had any intention of making life style changes. From day one she refused to even stand up!
The doctor did everything in his power to help her from keeping her in the hospital for months after the surgery, and sending a physical therapist and a nutritionist to her home after she repeatedly missed appointments. She was arrogant, narcissistic, unpleasant, and clearly put her own wants before those of her son. True, her husband was a bit of an enabler, but in the end she owned every bit of that failure. She should had never of been operated on in the first place.
It just really brought it home to me how much you have to not only want this, but be willing to fight for it. To be willing to change your entire lifestyle forever. I will use her example of everything I will NOT do once I have my own surgery.
Now if you want true inspiration you should check out Olivia's episode.

Hi all.... Wondering if any of you had your gallbladder out after the sleeve? I am having my gallbladder out on Dec. 23. All of the tests came back normal but I have such intense nausea that I am still not really eating anything and I am almost 12 weeks post op at this time. We believe the bile from the gallbladder is refluxing back into my stomach. My surgeon would like to see me eating something at this point. So we are taking it out to see if it will take care of the nausea. Hope so!!

Great job on the weight loss!! I would agree that the fibro fog seems worse after the sleeve. But I still think everything will improve over time.

Yes i do have fibromyalgia. i have been looking for someone else that has fibro to go thru this with. I am a little over 5 weeks out and have lost 39 pounds. And although I believe it will all get better, I am having a really hard time post op. I am beyond exhausted and have not managed to work a full week yet since the surgery. I am having pain in my right side and have been having tests run...of course everything comes back "normal" (as it always does with fibro patients). I don't think I have lost enough and recovered enough to start feeling the benefits of having more energy and less pain. But that is certainly my hope and one of the biggest reasons I had the surgery. It has been tough for me so far but I am really hoping that it pays off in the long run.

@@3Pugaliers I've had a rough couple weeks myself. Started on soft food and as of yesterday have transitioned to full foods (I can have salad and carrots...but I'm scared to. lol). For me the struggle has been not constantly watching the scale and not being disapointed that it's not moving faster.
I know the biggest problem is exercise. I really have to get disciplined about that...and discipline has never been my strong point.
Sorry to hear about your hospital visit. What did the doctor have to say? Did you get your gall bladder out?

Lol... Love the elbow story @@PartOfMyCharm!! There are so many changes that we never expect! I've had a rough couple of weeks. I spent one night last week in the ER getting 2 liters of IV Fluid. And tomorrow I am going in for some tests because I can't get my liquids down due to severe constant nausea and I have a pain in my upper right abdomen. The doc suspects I may need to have my gallbladder removed. I haven't even started soft foods yet. Still on liquids only. But even with all that, I am so glad I had the surgery. I can see good things coming down the road. So I'm just hanging in there.
