I am officially 9 months into my post op journey, and if you would have told me this time last year that I would be down from a size 20 to a size 6, I would have laughed in your face.
For everyone who is struggling with this decision, or is losing weight at a slow pace, keep your head up and let your new sleeve work for you. Don't over think things. If you slip up or fall down, pick yourself up, brush your shoulders off, and keep on truckin'.
I will not lie and say that this journey is easy, because it is very, very, hard. But believe me, if you work with your sleeve, and let your sleeve work for you, you too will find yourself in complete awe of where you'll be 9 months out from your surgery.
I wish everyone true happiness and success in their journeys, and if you are fortunate enough to find people here in the forums that will be as honest and upfront with you as some of those people that I have encountered have been with me, I promise your journey will be made just a little bit easier.

You look great and are an inspiration! I was a tight size 20 when I had my surgery 8 weeks ago. This past week I was feeling a bit down on myself. Now I'm ready to keep on with my head high and my eye on the prize! Thank you!

What screws us up most in life is the picture we have in our head of how things are supposed to be. Sounds to me sweetheart like it's time for you to get out your camera and take a new picture.

WOW... this is really interesting how many people are close to the same height and weight, but wear completely different sizes.

Currently...

Height: 5'4"
Weight: 149
Pants: Size 8 on the verge of size 6 (never in a million years would I have ever believed I'd be that small again)
Shirts: Medium

I have no problem with her opinion or her expression of her experience. I *DO* have a problem when opinion is presented as FACT.

Like I said, the real travesty here is that you rushed into this surgery like so many others thinking it was going to be the miracle cure for your obesity. If you would have done your homework, you would have understood the good, the bad, and the ugly before hand, and it would have helped you make a better decision. This is why I truly believe there should be mandatory waiting period (aside from insurance requirements) for WLS to educate and then evaluate whether the person is ready for this life changing surgery. I suspect there would be a lot less surgeries performed, because I see people who flat out weren't ready to make the changes needed after the surgery every day on here.
Oh, and yes I'm on this site every day. Your little dig about how you're a busy "professional" and don't have time to be on this site all the time is just another example of how you have no idea how to use the tool given to you properly. Studies show that people who find support (wherever it may be) are more likely to be successful with the surgery. This site is a touchstone and source of support for many, many people, including me. And I too am a busy working professional.
I have absolutely nothing against you personally. What I do have an issue with is you coming onto a site that offers support to so many who are reaching out and spewing falsehoods and flat out lies about WLS and claiming it to be gospel. If you would have just said "Look guys, I screwed up. I didn't know what I was getting into and now I'm over my head and think I've made a huge mistake", you would have gotten a completely different response.
But you coming on here and basically telling people who have had or are going to have WLS that they too have made or are going to make a mistake is where I draw the line.

@@Jay05 I am 6-months post op and I didn't tell anyone, family or friends (except for my 24 year old daughter who lives with me). To me this is a very personal life decision and quite frankly I didn't care or want to hear what anyone else had to say about it. I made this decision and did this for me, not for anyone else.
I had no desire to put myself on display for anyone to make absurd and stupid comments based on how THEY felt I was doing. I didn't tell anyone, and if I had to do it all over again, I still wouldn't tell anyone. But that's just my humble opinion.
Some people who embark on this journey need the encouragement and validation that they are doing a good job from the outside world. I didn't need or want that.

@@Sara51692 WOW... that's actually what a frozen banana looks like out of a Ninja? Did you add anything else to it when you blended it, or did you just throw the banana in there?

I will be 6-months post op tomorrow, and when I first started I had to really pay attention to the time between eating and drinking. Now it comes pretty naturally for me. I eat and then instinctively wait a while before drinking anything.

@@LipstickLady What an absolute turd! I can just imagine that he is one of those loud obnoxious guys that no one wants to be around.
If there is no avoiding this guy going forward, I would certainly pull him to the side the next time I saw him, and politely (I know that's hard for you... LOL j/k) explain to him how inappropriate his comment was, and that going forward it would be very much appreciated if he could refrain from making any future comments like that.
If he is any kind of a man he will feel bad about his actions and how he made you feel. Maybe it will also make him think twice before opening his fat trap again!

People kept telling me that I was losing weight, but when I looked in the mirror I couldn't see it. A good friend of mine told me when I started my journey to be sure to take tons and tons of pictures, and whenever I needed motivation to put an old one and a recent one side by side.
So a couple of days ago I did just that, and boy oh boy was I shocked! I still have a long way to go, but at least I can see progress!

I fully agree. I've been trying and people have been telling me that I need to tell the wonderful man I'm dating what I chose to do. But really, why?
Does he need to know everything about me? How many men I've slept with? How many one night stands I've had? That I had an ectopic pregnancy? That my ex used to call me a donut?
No. This is stuff in my past that is private and only needs to be revealed if extremely necessary. It shouldn't matter what I've done and mistakes I've made in the past if it doesn't directly affect him.
I'm of the mind that I'm entitled to my privacy. Period.
