BellaLuce4 reacted to Oak Park Lorena in I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
Hello all! I was sleeved in August 2013. I haven't lost the pounds that I hoped to (lost 85), but I have to say that I am pretty happy with the results and have no regrets about having the sleeve.
I started running back in March and have run a 5k and was a member of a Bourbon Chase relay marathon team--I ran over 13 miles. Needless to say, I wouldn't have been able to run a mile before my sleeve-induced weight loss without feeling I was going to croak! I run 20-25 miles every week, I take a pilates class (on the reformer) and I regularly attend barre and stretching classes. I do exercise every single day.
So, am I a skinny little size 6 with a tiny butt? Nope, but I am a very fit size 10/12 and feeling pretty, pretty good! Like most people who've lost weight, I've got quite a bit of the old hanging skin on my upper arms and inner thighs. I'm having a brachioplasty (arm lift) in about a month and plan to have the thigh lift early next year. Yes, the scars will be ugly, but hanging and swinging skin is not hot either!
Here's me before and after--the before is Christmas 2012, the after is a few days ago.

You have a positive emotional moment in the Kohl's dressing room due to you keep grabbing sizes that are too big! Your mind set hasn't caught up with your body size.

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from kimpossible67 in Getting close to where I plateaued before
Yeah!! Just accept it???? I stalled at 3 weeks and now again at 6! It is frustrating cause we get hung up on the number, at least I know I do...
Regardless, I'm still down and we just have to focus in the bigger picture, knowing that our body needs to adjust and is still losing inches????
Just keep thinking of where we will be next summer.. YAYYYYYY!!!

BellaLuce4 got a reaction from bobbyswife in Do you have degenerative arthritis or fibromyalgia?
I do not have fibro, but over the last year was suffering with sporadic arthritic inflammation.
1 week post surgery I did have a 5 alarm flair up, was bed ridden, could not sleep or even think. When I had my blood work done my inflammation was at 119, the norm should be below 30.
The Sleeve Surgery part was a breeze. And once I went back on meds the inflammation went down ( not gone yet) I was finally diagnosed with RA and also my uric acid is at 11 from the high Protein diet.
I'm now 8 weeks post op. I'm down 42 lbs, able to walk again and exercise mildly. I have been in a stall for 2 weeks????
Just my current weight loss has giving me more energy and renewed hope. Still have 80lbs to go, but no regrets here????

BellaLuce4 reacted to BryBro63 in My fitnesspal
Auntjanny,
What I did, and it seems to work, is use the percentage of 40 Protein, 40 carbs, and 20 fat. If you exercise on a regular basis, this should give you enough Protein to build and enough carbs to burn. This was a suggestion from my doc and my nutritionist....hope this helps!! Wish you the best!!
Btw, I am BryBro63 on MyFitnessPal if anyone wants to add me...email is BryBro@optonline.net

BellaLuce4 reacted to ChronicJam in Do you have degenerative arthritis or fibromyalgia?
Hello all! I'm so glad I came across this post. I also have Fibro, Degenerative Disk Disease, and Osteoarthritis, along with gastroparesis, Sjogren's Syndrome, relapsing polychondritis, and small Fiber neuropathy.
I'm eager to see *any* improvement. I know WLS is not a cure for any of my illnesses, but it can only help, right?
I'm still waiting for my surgery date - hopi

BellaLuce4 reacted to Miss Mac in Do you have degenerative arthritis or fibromyalgia?
At ten months, my chronic inflammation is much less. Where I couldn't exercise more than five minutes, now I can do thirty minutes of strength training followed by ten minutes of cardio and a few minutes of balance training because of post-stroke issues with balance and perception.
My knees were noticeably better with losing the first thirty pounds. With Degenerative Disc Disease,I have 17 ruptured discs in my spine with three repaired. I need a full lumbar fusion, but my spine doctor wants to put it off until I get to goal. He said that I would heal much easier without the extra 100 pounds I had a year ago. So far I have lost 65 of it.
Although I do not have fibromialgia, my oldest daughter (age 38) has had it her entire adult life, and even had some issues in that respect in high school. So, I understand your agony. I take Lyrica for neuropathies. She said she tried it for the fibromialgia, but it did not help. She gets through the day with Aleve, and gets through the night with a sleep aid.

BellaLuce4 reacted to XXShelXX in 100 lbs lost!
This is such a huge milestone for me. I'm not at goal yet and still have about 20 lbs to go but... I've lost a hundred pounds!! Had my band taken out and the sleeve done on the same day last year December 30th. I feel so much better even though I have my battle wounds. I'll likely have to have my arms done at some point but for now I'm in a size 8 and I am very proud of myself. Thank u for being here for me along the way.
