mrsaizsha_101 got a reaction from BeagleLover in Bariatric appointment? ?
I finally meet w/ my bariatric doctor today. Im not sure what to expect can someone tell me what to expect please?? Does he give me a list of requirements, do I have to find a nutritionist, etc??.... What I have done in the mean time while I waited for the appointment was to schedule a sleep study, get a referral for a psychiatrist, put all my weightloss documents together and my letter for the insurance. I just want to make sure when I see the doctor im pretty much half way through the list of requirements. Im ready to be on the losers bench ????

Rny 11 months ago. Down 94 pounds and feel great. Have not had any issues with anything. No dumping and have tolerated everything I have ate so far as long as it's not too dry. Going to the gym 3 days a week for 30 minutes of cardio and 45 mins of weights. Best shape of my life!! Absolutely no regrets.

I'm averaging five pounds a week and I am four weeks post-op. Started my liquid diet two weeks before surgery so in six weeks I am down 40 pounds.

    Hi Pik,
I had to do another sleep study to make sure I didn't need the cpap even though I was positive that I didn't.
I was right and the cpap machine is history for a few months now.
It's a real positive aspect to having surgery.
I wish you felt better from surgery. So sorry you're still having troubles.
Feel good and I wish you an easier journey.

I'm a born again Christian and wrestled with my weight for years, had uncontrollable diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. High cholesterol, name it I had it! I prayed and stood on my faith! I had surgery and I can't begin to tell you how it changed my life! God used the doctors to keep me whole!!! I have no regrets and thank Him for what he has done!

It's been 8 challenging yet fulfilling months! I am whole again!

I am 4 weeks post op so can only tell you what I know thus far. I had robotics RNY on 8/5. Was scared going in but as soon as they gave me the happy shot doing remember even going to sleep! Woke up and was very sick to my stomach - but that always happens every time I have ever had surgery. Once I got past that stage and was taken to my room I slept a little bit. Woke up and was AMAZED that I wasn't in very much pain. I got up and walked as soon as I could and continued to walk every hour I was awake. Never had gas pains and I thinks that is why. Didn't eat any of the "broth" but felt like the popsicles were a god send! Was sore but again not really in what you would call pain - so didn't have to ask for anything more than what they were giving me and didn't even ask for anything the following day. Was released on the 6th. For the first couple of days I was so afraid to put anything in my mouth but I forced a few shakes down (have not been able to drink them since first week! YUCK) and sipped on broth a couple of times a day. Have not really had any hunger - just eat because I know I have to.

Issues that I have had have all revolved around not being able to tolerate the shakes. I have tried so many different kinds in so many different ways but my gag reflex just says no. I have also had an issue with regurgitation of my food about 1/2 the time. Think I may have stricture and have put off going to Dr but finally called them yesterday to see about an upper GI cause I am tired of dealing with it!

I am tired a LOT but think that is also because of the lack of Protein - hope that will clear up once I am cleared on 9/11 for regular food! Other than those few small things I am amazed at just how easy this whole process was. My stomach doesn't feel like it was cut on - it’s just I don't hear from it like I used to! I am 20lbs down so far! I understand being scared about surgery - but I can tell you I have had 3 other abdominal surgeries and this was bar far the easiest of them all! Take the bull by the horns and ride the ride!

I have become very aware and sensitive to people I am close to who still struggle with these issues. My brother and my best friend are both considerably overweight. When I'm out with either one of them I make an effort to ask for a table instead of a booth so they'll be more comfortable. I remember what it was like to not fit in a booth!

So many... I use a normal towel after I shower instead of a beach towel. I use a normal public bathroom stall instead of the handicap stall. I cross my legs all the time. I don't sweat as much. I am never out of breath. I can run up the stairs at my house instead of hanging on the banister all the way up. I'm in single digit clothing. I don't dread being in a picture... In fact I'm front and center now. So many more.... I smile all the time now!!!

    7. To sit in theaters, on planes, in church, etc. without infringing on the person next to me.
    6. To hike, bike & swim and not have to worry about getting hurt because of my weight.
    5. To take pride in my appearance.
    4. To feel and look like a strong, determined woman, not someone who feels scattered and weak.
    3. To finish a triathlon, half marathon & century ride (not on the same day, lol)
    2. More endurance!
    1. Knowing that I've finally beaten the single most challenging obstacle I have ever faced, finally!
