Mike4132 got a reaction from Recycled in Goodbye 38's, hello 36's!
I moved into size 36 jeans today after a brief 2 week stint in 38's! I'Ve been in tight 42-44's for the last 8 years so this is the best feeling in the world. The fact that it happened in the middle of a 2 week weight stall is even better.
I can't describe how much this changes my "head" in making me realize I am really going to be successful with this surgery. After so many failed diets and weight loss trials over the years I guess I just got programmed to expect eventual failure. This sleeve is changing my body as well as my head and I'm beginning to feel like I now have a tool that is more effective than anything else out there.
Looking forward to 34's. Think I'll Celebrate by going to the gym!

I'm telling everyone at my office and I'd love to say I just don't care what they think, but in a way I do. I'd prefer not to be judged or be the topic of gossip but I also think I would feel worse if I tried to hide it and they discovered the truth anyway. Then I would REALLY be the topic of gossip.
My hope is that by being open about it people will get over their initial reactions, and move on. Besides, I plan on being in better shape than most of them by next year and then any remaining naysayers can kiss my butt.

Eating more than 4oz at a time will eventually cause my stomach to burst and will lead to needing a revision. Not likely after the 2 month mark. Eating past full is BAD for you no doubt, but to actually use the words, "You're gonna burst your pouch". Errr, No.
You should try to never feel restriction. Eh, it can be a good thing to actively try to "under eat" your sleeve to a point, but you need to get an much nutrition as you can too. Depends on what I'm eating I guess. If it's high quality I may try to get a few more bites down. If it's bar food, I may try to stop earlier.
We should chew our food for 20 minutes. That's just stupid.
We can never eat fruit with skin again, including grapes, apples, etc. Again. Just stupid. Most sleeves digest fruit skins and strawberry seeds just fine after the break in period. I know mine does. Test it out and if yours does, no problemo. If these things don't sit well, avoid them. Simple. Sounds like advice for someone with diverticulitis.
The 4 oz we eat MUST include 50% Protein (2oz) and the other 50% must be vegetables, fruit, and starch in that order. Really? It matters HOW we get the Protein in? Why? Most of us are told "protein first", yes. Personally, I tend to do protein first, but there are days I wouldn't get the recommended amount without supplementation. I LIKE variety in my diet so I supplement protein. It's rare I don't get at least 80g per day. Sometimes, when I make my favorite pork roast, or roast a chicken, its ALL I eat. About 3-4 oz of it and I'm done.
We should only take Flintstone chewables for a Multivitamin, anything else is a waste of money. There's a lot of sugar in chewable Vitamins. That's the recommendation? I used chewables for the first few months until I could take pills easily. Today, (and for life) I take a "petitie" multivit 2x day, extra D3, B12, Calcium and Iron on the schedule prescribed by my doc.
Partially educated sounds accurate. You should have all of this stuff (post op care and feeding) documented by your surgical team somewhere. ow does the Nut's advice jive with that?

I think you are right. He's close, but not quite. Sounds like an alarmist who is making things way overstated so people will land where they should be. I might mention it to the doc. Not every patient has the ability to recognize misinformation.

Some things are similar to my nutritionists rules. Yes to eating only 4 ounces thing minus the stomach bursting. Yes to eating only 2 ounces of Protein then some vegetables, but my nutritionist says skip the starches. Yes to not eating small seeds. And yes to the Flinstones Vitamins giving you the most bang for your buck.
But I think your nutritionist is confused about the 20 minutes chewing suggestion. I was told to chew each bite 20-25 times...not chew each bite for 20 minutes...as that would be impossible. And my nutritionist did mention that some patients have trouble digesting the skin of fruit. He recommended to try it and if it doesn't work, try again further down the road.

Congrats! Ain't it a good feeling. I started at a 46 when I had my sleeve on 12/22. Now in 38s that r too big, but I'm not quite in 36s yet. Getting closer though. Thank goodness for thrift stores. I'm in clothes for 2 weeks and they become loose.

Ditto to the other comments about not going crazy and buying a new wardrobe just yet. I thought a 36 was skinny and i would never be smaller than that and now 32 is loose on me (started at a 48).
No telling how much i have spent on clothes over the year...good problem to have, but hold out as long as possible until you stabilize.

    In the short term
Sitting in a booth Not being fearful to fly on a plane. Not having to buy my clothes from specialty stores that charge a fortune. Long term
Getting stamina back to run. I'd like to do a 5K or Mud Run someday. Like to also get back into CrossFit. Something I did a while ago and enjoyed. Hopefully I wont sweat at the drop of a hat.

Warning lady posting in the men's room....... ????????????
Anyways. I am preop and here is a short list of what I am looking forward to.
    - fitting in restaurant booths ( how embarrassing is it to always have to request a table and praying they have one ?)
    - being able to fly without seat belt extender and spilling into the next seat.
    - not feeling so harshly judged by everyone. Getting the stares, snickers and whispers.
    - never ever thinking "oh this guy will not like me because of my size"
    - being able to go to theme parks and ride all the rides without worrying if I will fit.
    - buying clothes wherever I want. Right now there's only 2 stores I can shop at. I want variety, darnit.
    - wearing a swimsuit in public.
    - being able to do athletic activities 5k's, walking through the park, playing in adult softball/volleyball leagues.
    - for my family to stop worrying about me
    - to get pregnant one day.
    - of course I'm hoping sex will be much better when im thinner and I can do things I can't do know.
    - to never be told im pretty for a big girl or have a pretty face.
This list could go on and on and on.

Here's a new one. I want to go kayaking. I love fishing and am too poor to own a boat, I figure a kayak is a good middle ground. I want to start flying more places. I simply refuse to fly anywhere at my current size. I want to ride a zip line. I want to sit at a restaurant booth. I want to see my wang again.

I signed up for a zip line tour this Saturday. Decided there is no need to wait! It's 14 zip lines over 5 hours so this may be tough but I'm going to do it. I Bought a groupon for this 3 years ago and then realized I was over the weight limit so I couldn't do it.
I'm under now so it's game on!

Hello all! I figured I would drop in and give everyone an update! I am 22 and decided to get sleeved Dec 11, 2014. I started out at 270 and I am currently around 225 for a loss of 45 lbs in 2 months and one week. I am so happy I made the decision to get sleeved! My entire life has changed and I am just a happier, HEALTHIER, more confident person. I had to go through the preliminary stuff for a whopping 9 months- so if you are going through all that just be patient- it'll all work out in time!

    SORRY!!!!
    HOMEMADE Protein BARS

    Ingredients (Makes 12 Bars)
    - 8 scoops chocolate Protein powder – I used whey Tech Pro 24 Rich Chocolate
    - 1 cup oatmeal
    - 1/3 cup natural Peanut Butter – I used PB2 mixed with Water
    - 3 tbsp honey – I used imitation honey
    - 1/2 cup almond milk
    - 3 tbsp crushed peanuts
    Directions
    1. Mix together the Protein Powder, oatmeal, Peanut Butter, honey and milk.
    2. Form into 12 bars and then roll in the crushed peanuts to finish.
    3. Place in the fridge for about 30-45 mins or until solid
It is pretty hard to mix and will seem like it is too dry.. you have to use elbow grease to get it mixed well… rolling in the peanuts doesn’t work that great so you will need to press the nuts into the bars.

Congratulations, Mike!!! It is a wonderful feeling when your clothes get too big for you and it's time to downsize I've transitioned from 24/26 slacks and 3X tops to 22 slacks and 2X/1X tops and sweaters. For me, it takes about 20 lbs. to lose a size, but with exercising, the inches are changing even when the scale doesn't. Find you a great consignment shop for transitional clothes. I finally went shopping last weekend for a couple pairs of slacks for work and some tops to go with them. Most were purchased at a nearby consignment shop and the slacks were on sale at 70% off - couldn't resist a $10 pair of slacks! So I bought two pairs - sizes 20 and 18 since those sizes are on the horizon. Seems like I've read on BariatricPal about a clothes swap for those of us who need to get new sizes and get rid of the old sizes. I'll have to look into that option.
Again, congratulations and keep up the great work!!
