    In the same way that I can't hide my fat exterior from the world, I can't hide how it has also adversely affected my health over the years.
    People I've worked with in my office for the last 27 years are pretty much asking me daily, why I'm limping (osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis), am I feeling ill, due to the constant grimace on my face (joint pain), am I all right (out of breath and sweating with minimal exertion), do I need help with things I used to be able to do in my sleep. The list goes on. A lot of these people I don't know past the nominal nod as we pass in the hall too.
    I'm also sure they are probably harboring those ("Why doesn't she just eat right and exercise to lose that weight?) thoughts. So when I do start eating right and losing weight, and it becomes noticeable enough to draw comments, as far as I'm concerned, I'm just going to be fulfilling their prophecy, that yes, I did finally do something about my weight because of the way it was affecting my health, and longevity of life.
    And if anyone attempts to push beyond that, as to how quickly it is coming off, I will cut the inquisition off at the pass, politely but firmly. I will never reveal the amount of weight I've lost, or exactly what I'm eating or drinking to achieve it, how much, or why. My repeated refrain will be along the lines of: I was having some major health issues, and now I'm working closely with my doctor to regain my health. Period.
    In the same way I only told select people going in, I will only tell select people as I progress along. Doing otherwise puts you in danger of opening the floodgates on unwanted intrusion on your personal life that you will never be able to gain control over again.
    This process is hard enough, I don't want to add unnecessary stress if I don't have to.
    And as for the more personal relationships in your life that have, over the years, nagged you, belittled you, or in anyway made you feel "less" worthy than them because of your weight - they deserve an explanation least of all. Don't give them the satisfaction.

    DizzyLib got a reaction from MrsSugarbabe in this hair loss is depressing!
    I started around 3 months, getting worse now nearing 4 mths. Get my Vitamins, Protein & Water in. Just think the op is a shock to the body plus we cannot get the nutrients required for a while so the effects of that kick in. hair follicles go through different Hair growth cycles, not all growing at same time, so it will come back and thicken eventually...i hope hehe

    DizzyLib got a reaction from Kindle in Are you following a Paleo Diet?
    While i understand many aspects of Paleo Diet are healthy i dont follow it completely. Our Paleo ancestors only lived to about 35 yrs of age so cant see how that diet is "all that"!!! I am trying "clean eating" instead, like you eating everything as close to natural as possible but not deleting complex grains, legumes or dairy.

    im over 5 years post op... and at first when people would say that, it would hurt my feelings. Now it's a whole new ball game... When someone dares to say that WLS is the easy way out ... I turn to them and say Oh really, tell me what you think you know about WLS.... That normally catches them way off guard. I love watching them back stroke.... Then i say.. Well, im free tomorrow for you to follow me around and if it's so easy, you will have no trouble adhering to all the rules that i have to..... Such as... No drinking with meals.. EVER!! No straws... small plates, small utensils, chewing and chewing till your jaw hurts. Eating so slow that by the time your finished it's all cold. to just name a few. then at 5 you can come to the gym with me and exercise...
    if that don't work i just tell them to "f" off and mind their own damn business.

    I don't know how he found out, I really hadn't told many people at work, but I guess people talk. Anyway, it came up in conversation, and he started questioning my motivation, saying that didn't I worry that I was taking that easy way out. That if I just worked hard and stayed disciplined, I could do it all on my own. He made it sound so simple. I could tell he thought he was being positive, but he was being condescending, something he has a reputation for doing.
    First of all, it's not so simple. I am well over 200+ lbs over. I have gone past the point of no return. And while I make no excuses for how I got this way, I know it's all on me, and I haven't made the best choices in my past. But I'm at the point where medical intervention is required, and my doctor wholeheartedly agrees (I love her by the way!). And I'm going to do this like I do everything in my life. To the best of my abilities. Despite his opinion, I know this will most certainly not be easy. In fact, I want to it to be hard. It will make it that much more worth it once I reach my goal.
    And second. This is life and death, I'm in my mid 30s now, and the clock is ticking. If I keep going on this path, I will not have much time left on this planet. I am not concerned with preserving my honor in his eyes. I have family and friends who are all united in their support of me on this. And he's just some guy we hired last year to do . . .I really don't know what he does.
    So for those that say, we're cheating, or taking the easy way out. Kindly direct them to engage in intercourse with themselves. Rant over.

    Hi, I'm being sleeved on 21 January and I can't wait.
    I'm looking forward to a much healthier and active life but in particular...
    not hating seeing photos of myself;
    fitting into plane seat belts and putting the tray top down;
    not having foot pain and being able to walk on the beach every day again;
    being active with my grandkids;
    getting down or up off the floor without using the couch;
    feeling better about myself;
    walking into a normal dress shop;
    travelling overseas and walking to see everything I wish too.
    but really...there are too many to mention here
    All the best with your surgery!!!
