Where are the Wi bandsters
Hi, I'm from Marinette. It's STILL raining today. Don't get me wrong - I'm all about the snow going away - but it is depressing when it's this dreary. We had no thunder, but I think they had tornado warnings down by Madison, etc. Are you down that way? Take care! Robin GO PACKERS!!!!!!!

walking shoes
Thanks to everyone for their ideas. I haven't gone shoe shopping yet, but I DID start walking on my lunch hour! I did it yesterday and today. It's pretty cold and icy here (Wisconsin), so I walk at our local mall. Kind of boring but it's just until spring, which typically doesn't come here until May or June...lol! Thanks again! Robin :rain:

Lots of pain after surgery and questions
Newblew, My surgery was 7 weeks ago (Nov. 2). I also experience a "stitch" in my side (right side). It's not constant, just mostly when I'm walking. I'm not sure what it's from; perhaps the port being near that side? Robin

walking shoes
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand or model of walking shoe that you've found to be very comfortable and "springy"! Oh, and doesn't cost a fortune! I got my band on Nov. 2, and I plan to start a walking routine on my lunch hour after Christmas. Thanks in advance for any info, and Merry Christmas and Skinny New Year to you all! Robin

couldn't get a fill
Hi, I was banded Nov. 2. I went to my surgeon on Dec. 14th for my first fill. He tried several times, but "couldn't find" my port. I go back on Dec. 31 to try again, but now I'm nervous about him not finding it again. Anyone else have this problem? Robin

Should I do breast reduction before or after Lap-Band sugery?
O2B, I love your comment about boobs being donor organs! I only wish! I am also at least a DDD. Since my surgery on Nov. 2, 2007 I have lost about 35 pounds and went from a 44 to 40 bra band size, but cup size has not changed. I hope to have reduction surgery after I meet my WL goal, but only if insurance pays most of it - no way I could do private pay. My sister had it done a year ago - I'm so jealous! "Hang" in there and try not to trip! Robin

Anti-depressants
SueSue, I currently take Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Seroquel and Trazodone (for sleep). I still have bad days, but for the most part it is working. I've been playing musical medications for about 8 years. I know that when I'm not on meds I can't stand myself. I'm crabby (understatement), VERY easily irritated, and feel like the world is crashing down around me. My family suffers when I'm like that. And I know they are a hurdle to losing weight. If you think you should still be taking them, you probably should be. Do you live with anyone? The people around you can be helpful in determining your "mood". My husband would go to my psychologist appts. with me and the Dr. would ask HIM how I was doing, since I was so out of whack I didn't know how I was feeling! We'll just have to work a little harder to lose the weight! Hang in there! Robin

How can it be?
Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm just being a baby today. I am scheduled for a fill on Dec. 14th, and I'm sure (?) it will help. I am not really exercising right now. I know everyone has these obstacles, but between working full-time and my family, I just can't (don't) squeeze it in. I'm in Wisconsin, so it's a no-go to walk outside, and we don't have the extra money for a gym membership. I'm planning to start using my lunch hour to walk at our mall, but not until after Christmas. I use my lunch break to Christmas shop and all that ridiculous stuff! Tina - wouldn't it be nice if all the weight came off overnight!?! Thanks again! Robin

How can it be?
Hi everyone, I have posted a few times; not for a while though. I got banded Nov. 2, 2007. I have lost 30 pounds (this includes the 13 I lost during the pre-op liquid diet). I just weighed myself and I am the same as I was last week. I guess I just don't get how I could have no loss this week when I eat SO much less in a day than I used to. Any advice or comforting words??? Thanks, Robin

Being banded on Nov. 2
P.S. I weighed myself and I've apparently lost 8 pounds since Friday (Today is Monday). Perhaps that will provide me with the motivation I need to keep going! Robin :boink:

Worried about the emotional stuff
Hi BarbBee, I totally hear you! As I read your message, it was if I was writing it. In fact, I posted for the first time on Friday (10/26) and had the same fears. I am in the 4th day of my liquid pre-op diet. It's nasty and harder than I thought it would be. I don't know why I thought it would not be a huge deal, with the whole food addiction thing you talked about. I am being banded in 4 days (Nov. 2) and I also worry about failing, especially with the holiday season looming. But I am trying my best not to think of failure as an option. My best to you and know that many of us feel exactly the same way you do. Robin :boink:

Being banded on Nov. 2
Thanks to those who wrote me words of encouragement! I really do appreciate it. All I gotta' say is this liquid diet sucks!! I didn't think it would be this hard. I feel really sorry for the people who have to do it for longer than a week. I have 3 more days of it and even LOOKING at Slim-fast makes me want to gag!:faint: I have been blending a half a banana or some frozen raspberries in with the Slim-fast. Is that okay????:boink: Cowgirl - good luck to you. I'll be thinking of you on our band date! I'm at 2:00 - what about you? Thanks again! Robin :xena_banana:

Being banded on Nov. 2
Hello everyone! I have been reading posts on this site for a couple of weeks now, but this is my first time writing in. I will be banded Nov. 2 (my birthday). I consider it a "re-birth"! I am being banded in Green Bay, Wisconsin (GO PACKERS!) by Dr. James Kemmerling. Any Wisconsinites out there? I started my pre-op liquid diet today and am currently drinking a Cappuccino Delight Slim-Fast. :tired I just weighed myself and I'm at 305. :cry I'm not sure what my ultimate goal is; maybe around 175. Up until this week I have been really excited and confident, but now I am a bit worried. Not about the surgery itself, but about failing. I've read posts about people feeling no restriction and being able to eat as much as before surgery, even right after fills. And I worry about having the will-power after the surgery to truly maximize the benefits of the band. What was I thinking - getting banded with Halloween and the holidays fast approaching! If anyone has any words of wisdom or tips, I'd be very appreciative if you shared them with me. Thanks!! :help: Robin
