  1. I had so many problems with the lab band. Placed 5 years ago, after about 1 year I had a second surgery because the first bad had a leak. I was never at a place where i could eat comfortably. I was vomiting at every meal so I lost very little weight. One night all all of a sudden I couldn't swallow my own spit! I was miserable so I went to the emergency room. They had a very difficult time accessing my port, I was stuck about 20 times before they found the correct place to aspirate the fluid. After all the fluid was aspirated I just never had it filled again. I didn't want to go through all that pain ever again. Even with all the fluid out I still had some restriction, But now I feel like MY band is overfilled and I know thats not possible. HELP!

Banded Yesterday and Already Scared of Failure!

I'm am very discouraged and depressed, I had my surgery 7/18/2014 and lost about 20lb then all of sudden I didn't feel any restrictions I kept telling my surgeon I was hungry all the time and I wasn't loosing any more weight, they kept giving me fills with no success, finally I demanded a Barium swallow and their was a leak. That was in Oct 2014. My second surgery was Nov. 2014 to repair the leak. I've been doing everything I'm suppose to with no success. I work out 3 times a week, I eat small portions, drink plenty of Water, 80-100 gms of Protein a day, my calorie intake is 1000-1200/day sometimes less I've only lost about 22lbs total, I do have restriction but not loosing any more weight, I'm so stressed out because I've worked so hard and haven't seen any results. I'm about to throw in the towel and say the hell with it. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions. Thanks Tiffany
  3. Has anyone ever lost Fluid from their band, I had 7.5 cc in my band and went for a fill this week the nurse could only pull back 2 cc, had a barium swallow the next day, the band looked fine, not much restriction so she filled me with 3 cc, she said I don't have a leak but I still don't have much restriction. Surgery was July 2014, have lost 26lbs, but eating to much now.
  4. Thanks Terry for words of encouragement, I needed that!
  5. I went for a fill today, instilled 1cc of saline today and the nurse pulled back to measure Fluid because I had 7.5cc of fluid in since Aug. 18 2014 with not much restriction, she could only get 2cc of fluid back under fluoro, she tried several times with no success, she think their might be a leak somewhere. Even though I have lost almost 25 pounds I'm devastated, don't know for sure yet, going for barium swallow on Monday, If anyone has experienced this please help, let me know what to expect, I cant have surgery again because I can't take time off from work, nor do I have the time to take, please pray for me that it's something simple. Thanks Tiffany
  6. Thank you guys so much for the feedback, love this site!
  7. Went to get my second fill last week, my surgery was July 18. My first fill was done with fluoroscopy with no problem, the second attempt was done manually at a different location with out fluoroscopy, the NP couldn't access the center of my port, she said it was tilted because of swelling, have anyone else experienced this. I will be going back on Wednesday for a fill with fluoroscopy. Now I'm afraid something is wrong.

Ready to throw in the towel

How do you know if your band slipped? What are the symptoms?

    Am I eating too much?

I was banded July 18, 2014, had 1cc fill for a total of 4cc , I had 3cc in during surgery, I have lost about 20lbs but I feel no restrictions, I know I'm eating more than recommended but not as much as I ate pre-surgery. Going for my 2nd fill next week, hope to be more restricted, it's a struggle!

I was exhausted for a while after my surgery, My Surgeon said it will take 6-8 weeks to get back to feeling normal again.
