RedDirtRoads reacted to ejd1024 in 6 weeks and I'm more motivated than ever...
As much as I've learned so much from the users on this site I can't help but share my news...sure I've got family support but I don't know anyone going through this except for everyone that shares their stories on this site...I've got a long way to go...but in 6 weeks I'm down 48 lbs...3 sizes down for the shirts I wore before...4 sizes down in pants...loss some muscle but I plan to go back to my gym this friday. I've got a long way to go but man...this has just been such a boost for me and I'm hoping this ride just keeps on going. This has been the brightest spot of the year for me....thanks to all the support and information that I've read on this site...could not have done this without just family support. Still sticking to the script and feeling so blessed each day. Happy holidays to all????

RedDirtRoads reacted to KeeWee in AMAZING! 8 months POST OP and Pregnant after 17 years of trying with PCOS.
I need to share this because over a year ago, I was the one looking for post of people that were post op and finally got pregnant with PCOS. Polycystic Ovary syndrome can feel like all womanhood is gone and leave you infertile. I was diagnosed back in 2006 and never was informed to take any meds or anything just lose weight to normalize my hormones.
Well I could always lose a few pounds 10-20 but it looks like 100 lbs was my magic number because around the time I hit that milestone, I find out that I am pregnant...the real thing, not a faint line, not just feeling pregnant, all 4 test were positive and I am 3 weeks late and my husband and I are so shocked and scared at the same time so we're keeping this under wraps until the doctor says it's all good and we make it out of the 1st trimester!! It's funny because we had just decided to give up on the baby thing since our daughter is heading off to college this upcoming year, we said, it's finally our time, let's move to Cali and rekindle what the kid took for the past 17 years and then GOD says, hey, who asked me my timeline?!?!?!....lol....and now HIS work will be done on HIS time and not mine!! AMEN
We do plan on telling our moms at Christmas dinner, lets see who hits the floor first...LMAO!!!! P.S. his mom is like 20 years older than mine, my mom, will jump up and down screaming, his mom is going down...I'M SO SURE!!!! Were we wrong to seriously make that $50 bet, because we sure did!!!!!!
Good luck ladies and Happy Holidays ALL!!

    According to a new yahoo article;
The body stores the excess Protein or carbs in a person's diet in form of fat, specifically, as triglyceride moleclues, which consist of just three kinds of atoms: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
In order to "burn" fat these triglycerides must break up into building blocks, which happens in a process known as oxidation. And the chemical process of burning that fat will produce carbon dioxide and Water, Therefore 84 percent of the fat that is lost turns into carbon dioxide and leaves the body through the lungs the balance is water and, well you know how we eliminate water.
I just found this to be interesting is all...
You can read the entire artilcle here...

I have a 9 year old and she's a great eater. I cook dinner for her and my husband; chicken, pork chops, steak, veggies and the like and try to IGNORE all the tempting smells. We're not big fast food eaters and my kid HATES hot dogs and chicken nuggets so I'm good there. She has a steak and baked potato appetite. LOL. I keep her favorite snack on hand, tomatoes. She is allowed to have tomatoes any time she wants. I don't have to worry about her too much. She polices ME! I took her to Subway over the weekend. She got her sandwich, chips, and bottle of Water. I got 2 small scoops of tuna fish. She opened her chips and asked me "are you allowed to have any chips, Mama?". I told her no and she put them away so she didn't eat them in front of me. She's a keeper.

Well there's always an excuse for everything and some are legit like
I work four day's a week and he only has office visits on Thursday, I can't take off I only make $250 a week and that's a little hard to budget with a family to help support.
Everytime I visit with my Surgeon it's a 2min visit and I'm out the door with a bill. They never called me to schedual another appointment after my first one and I guess I would feel more obligated to go and spend my money if the Dr spent a little more time getting to know his patients.
For the record I only saw the guy once before my surgery as well.
I get a lot of my support online, And I've been on BP way before my surgery and here I am now.

@@michellebutrick The appeal process has begun. Spoke with my surgeon's office, my PCP & my acid reflux doctor today. They all are getting their paper work together. I have FAITH, know that this minor setback is for a major comeback. Just praying it doesn't take me a year of appealing. My surgeon told me to keep my pre-op appt for the 18th as scheduled. Good luck to you!

i have heard of OP appealing 2 and 3 times, finally getting approved
don't throw the towel in at this early stage
here is my "little" insurance story 101
i was told by my surgeons office i had been approved!!
I took what the doctors office said was the final word
    i "thought" everything was fine
had uneventful surgery, easy recovery et al - GOAL
2 years AFTER surgery i received a bill for $22,000.00
    yes - i said after 2 years!!!
turns out both my primary and secondary insurance denied me
    i do take some responsibility
i should have asked insurance for written approval
after i couldn't get anywhere with my primary insurance about the denial
    called BCBS my secondary ins
it took many months of "discussion"
finally got the approval on the phone
    i was elated!!!! but.........
i requested and received a formal letter with a copy of my bill
on the bill, big word stamped
    PAID IN FULL
that's my story and i'm sticking to it!!!
don't take this news sitting down
    get moving
i wish you the best of luck

I have been open about it from the get go, I have talked about my pre-op visits to the surgeon, day of surgery and after on Facebook. My reason for doing this is because I want to show those I love and care about that this works. Also, I have been the person that has watched people drop weight and beat myself up because I could not do the same. I did not want anyone doing that because of me. I have had people openly comment on facebook with questions and I have had some PM me. I'm not pushing anyone toward WLS but I want to help people that may be thinking about it. BTW, your picture is awesome, it might be the hair but you really look like two different people.

I was sleeved with a SIPS procedure on 11/14 and had to spend a couple of extra nights due to some swelling in my colon. They sent me home but I developed severe pain and was readmitted the next day. They found I had pulled loose a couple of staples, fixed me up and started pumping the antibiotics. I spent another 4 days in the hospital. Been doing great ever since. Moving to soft foods on Wednesday. HW 250. SW 230 CW 201 I've lost almost 50 lbs and am just 2 lbs from onederland! I was wearing waist 44s, today I'm wearing 38s. Amazing. Post op 3 weeks I just don't seem to have a lot of energy. I know that will change......I'm ecstatic!

Ok. I just want to whine a little. All of my go to friends must be busy...not answering texts or calls tonight and I'm stuck at home on a Friday night with my son and his friend who is spending the night. So...you guys get to hear me whine ....and your ears are greatly appreciated!
So...my ex-husband. We've been divorced for about 6 yrs now. My weight was always a problem for him, and I was heavy when we met. 6 yrs later he has been through 5 different women...A serial relationship kind of man I guess. I have only dated 1 man for a very short period of time. I dated occasionally but haven't had a very serious relationship since the divorce.
Anyway.....when I had the surgery I was so hoping that he would see me and be really flirty with me. You see....in these past 6 yrs he was constantly flirting with me and constantly telling me I looked great....even though I was 256 lbs and knew I was looking pretty horrible! Now, 55lbs down.....not a peep out of him! Gheez! And we are friends now....we get along great for the sake of our son.
Don't get me wrong.....there is no way come hell or high Water that I would ever get back with him....as Taylor Swift says.....we are never ever ever getting back together. I just want a stinking compliment. I just want him to worry about my dating life. You know?
So that's it. One of the perks of this surgery was to make my ex jealous! Just one little perk. Maybe when I drop another 55?

I am 1 year and 1 day out from my surgery! Gastric sleeve has been my saving grace. After struggling my whole life with diets and weight problems (almost all related to over eating) I have gotten myself now to an acceptable weight and much healthier state! I have lost 94lbs total now and am not quite to goal. I would like to be under 200lbs and after that I'll be satisfied with wherever I settle after that. I am getting married next year and am so excited to feel good about myself, ESP for that day. This was the best decision I've ever made.

I was a "low BMI" too. Was vigilant about taking supplements, low carb, 60+ gram of Protein and did a little bit of exercise to take off the weight. Recommend more exercise than I did, but I know you can do this much better than me.
Remember each of us loses weight differently. What to expect? Expect to be amazed....I love my sleeve and have no regrets!

I'm thankful every day that I finally made the decision to have this surgery. I am down 13 lbs since being sleeved on 11/18/14, and if I only enjoyed the benefits I feel right now, I would be happy!
I can walk, dance, and stand for extended periods. I'm doing dishes and cleaning the house, which I haven't been able to do in two years. (Don't worry, I've had a housekeeper part time helping. I haven't been living in filth lol, but I've let her go now and see the housekeeping as part of my fitness regimen. My least favorite part, I may add.)
I've been out to eat, and ordered in twice as well, and I'm thrilled with the number of meals I get out of one dish ordered from a restaurant. I can eat anything so far, no problems with any food.< /p>
Four times I've overeaten or eaten too fast and paid the price of pain and nausea. The lesson is slowly being drummed into my thick skull and the bad habits, the addiction to food and its numbing qualities are getting tamed more and more each day.
I took one week off from work, and have been working at home for the last two weeks. This will be my final week at home, and I am actually looking forward to going back to the office. We have three holiday parties next week, and I'm simultaneously pissed that I have to pay for each of them considering the small amount of food I'll be eating, looking forward to eating tiny samplings, and worried that I haven't anything small enough and nice enough to wear.
Next week, on my one monthiversary, I will post pix.
