Miaoreo got a reaction from XYZXYZXYZ1955 in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
*Knees and ankles and back in constant pain when I try to walk
*High blood pressure and taking the awful meds for it
*Feeling like the bones in my feet are going to break when I first step on them in the morning
*Trying to squeeze past people and either my belly or butt rubs on them
* Asking for a seat belt extender on the plane
*Not being able to sit in a restaurant booth.
*Having sleep apnea and wearing a cpap
* HATEING to go shopping for clothing.
*Not going to an amusement park because I know I cannot fit on the rides.
* Not allowing myself to be photographed
the list goes on and on.. but the worst thing was when we went camping last Memorial day weekend. We went with friends who brought horses, it was a horse camp. They talked me into going for a ride, I rode all the time as a teen, but hadn't ridden for years. It literally took 3 people to get me up on that poor horse. I was so embarrassed, I felt like a big bowling ball balanced up there. Then someone took my picture. The whole scenerio of people who love me making a special effort to allow me to participate was more that I could bear. Why couldn't I be healthy enough to get on a horse by myself? Why do my loved ones have to make a special effort for me, just because I am FAT. Now I know this doesn't sound as emotional or as traumatic as some other stories, but this type of thing has been going on for years.. It was the last straw, I am going to be 60 next month and I don't plan on spending the rest of my life as a cripple.

Ages since I checked in with yall.... didn't lose a pound for months but my clothing kept getting BIGGER so I know I was shrinking... Then the other day BAM 4 pounds! Don't know if I will ever reach goal.. been bad about not getting enough Protein, slipping up I guess.. but somedays it is just a chore. Premier Protien shakes are a staple in the house now, even my DH who never had a weight problem in his life, will grab one for a quick pick me up, mid afternoon. Now If I could just wean him of Ding Dongs! lol...

I had my sleeve 9-2, and yes I've had a few drinks since. Unlike everyone else it seems, I am not any more sensitive to alcohol than I was before. I like to occasionally have some light cranberry juice with vodka, and my stomach seems just fine. And I'm still losing. I think it is hooey to say if you drink, you will not lose weight. Calories in, calories out. Alcohol doesn't have super calories that defy physiology. They are empty calories, sure. Alcohol may impair your judgment about food choices, yep. But I've seen no credible evidence that drinking alcohol will stall weight loss, all calorie intake being equal. I'm obviously not saying go against what your surgeon says, this is just my experience.

I drank 2 sips of white wine a month after. It didn't taste the same.
At three months out I may sit on 3 ounces of white wine once a week for about 4 hours - that was Friday night by the way -
What I have found is the following
1- my favorite Pinot Grigio tastes mostly like unripened grape juice with an acidy kick
2- red wine while ok in the past not my preference - won't even make it down my throat past one sip
3- moscato - can you say sweet? Syrupy and nasty sweet. Like you added a pound of sugar when it called for a few ounces.
My taste buds have changed. In some cases am just figuring it out. But with wine most certainly
I did have a peach lambic (beer) and finished the whole thing. I allowed it to go a little flat first. Not much carbonation to begin with but tasted better than wines.
I can't tolerate cosmos- my fav drink pre surg
Can't do martinis - medicinal tasting.
Well there you go

Your Doctor said you would become an Alcoholic????? Sorry but that stikes a nerve... I can understand substituting alchohol for comfort food but that doesn't make one an Alcoholic anymore that eating a cookie makes you a cookie monster!

Thanks mbrinmn, I am sure she will. She is a thin person, always has been, but has never ever judged me or my weight. Even at my heaviest she never said a word. I am quite certain she will be happy for me.
So another question to change the subject.. Most of the loss has come off my face, neck, chest, thighs and upper arms. I still have this ugh Muffin Top, ring of lard around my middle and my belly, reminds me of those infernal internet ads "Remove stubborn belly fat with this miracle tip". UGH! I know we can't pick and chose where the fat comes off, unless one has surgery. But does anyone else have this issue? The Abdominal FAT? Is there a scientific explanation for it?

Miaoreo got a reaction from mldavis1969 in What do you drink when you go out?
Well I will chime in here.... I am a bourbon and Water gal.. so my choice is pretty simple... I used to drink wine and beer but cannot stand the taste of either since surgery, besides beer being carbonated which I avoid.
My 2nd choice is a Bloody Mary, that way I can at least pretend there is some nutritional value in the drink
I would AVOID like the PLAGUE any and all fruity, frothy, frozen drinks with any kind of mixer... including, Margarita's, Daquaris and the like, as those mixers are loaded with SUGAR.
I shudder to think of dumping a shot into my sleeve! You would probably have to scrape me up with a spoon!
Martini's made with Gin and Vermouth or Vodka and Vermouth, Gin and Tonic and other similiar drinks have less sugary mixer in them . Although again Tonic Water does have 16 grams of sugar in 6 ounces. Again Avoid the fancy pink, girly, chocolate versions... sugar sugar sugar.
GOOGLE low calorie cocktails, experiment a bit and find one or two you like. Memorize or write down the recipie(s), when you first get to the bar ask the bartender to make your drink according to your recipie, tip him/her generously and you should be set for the evening. As long as you don't go ordering shots!

I don't have issues with fluids. But I do still have problems with some foods it seems the denser the food the less I can eat of it. do you still have any discomfort on any of your surgical incisions the one by my bellybutton is still rather painful at times. Michele

As you lose more and more, that fat will dissipate. But the loose skin will, most likely, not unless you opt for surgery. You might be mistaking that loose skin as fat.

Besides just the exercise, I'll have to ramp up a bit on my Water. I'm really good about drinking what seems like gallons at home, but not so much at work.
Have fun Miaoreo on Saturday. I bet your friend will be AMAZED!! I'm like you...I want to tell every obese person I see that they really have to check out this surgery because it is so life changing.

@mbrinmn...doing well. Have been in a very long stall; almost all of December and now into January. But I'm okay with that. I'm wearing pants that are down 4 sizes down from where I began back in August 2014 and am into XL tops (down from 3XL womens not misses).
Has anyone else had a really long stall lately? Are you still stalled or did you finally make it over the hump? Any tips? I'm getting about 65-80 grams of Protein a day, eating healthy. I do admit that I haven't gotten a lot of exercise lately, which is where I think the root of the problem is. I just joined a gym yesterday and am heading there today after work. It has a great women's only area with all the machines for every muscle group. Plus you can spin, walk/run a treadmill, or use a stairmaster or elliptical trainer while watching movies on a big screen. I'm really hoping to hit ONEderland before my birthday in March. We'll see if this new exercise jumpstarts my losing. I was doing so well until everything slowed to a halt around the 2nd week of December. At least I didn't gain any during the holidays!!
Thanks for posting all your stories and successes. It is very motivating.

Hey all! I'm reading all of your posts and am absolutely amazed at all of your results! I was sleeved 8/20 & am only down 55 lbs. Some of you are 90 lbs down?! Wow! I pray to have your success!
On another note, my church is having a weight loss challenge (probably because they all notice my results and want to compete, I won the last contest and then gained it all back plus).
My husband & sister, who are the only people who know about my surgery, both say it's immoral for me to compete in the challenge. But I still have to exercise and eat right. And all the women want to "beat" me, so I would provide "inspiration". What do you guys think? To compete or not to compete? That is the question...

I have the same problem. Unfortunately the women in my family are plagued with bigger bellies then butts. No matter their size. My tiny mom suggested men's jeans. Works for her but no way I was gonna do that. Well for Christmas she bought a pair of 32 x 30 for my very skinny tall 16 year old son. Way to big and way to short for him. I said wth and slipped them on and guess what? My mother wAs right about the butt fit for us! And they don't slide off. They are just plain jeans but fit!! -

OMG Crystal88,
"WE" would never laugh at you! Those living in glass houses should not throw stones!!!! I am CERTAIN many, many of us have our own 'track suits' hidden in our closets! Mine is a beautiful Chinese Silk Jacket, that belonged to my Grandmother that has hung in my closet for over 40 years!

OKAY....please don't laugh or roll your eyes at me, BUT...
I am a big big Britney Spears fan. I'm 26 and have been a fan since I was about 11. So, in 2009 when she was on tour, they had tracksuits for sale at her shows, and my brother (who is my concert partner) bought me one. It was 200 freakin dollars, and i have NEVER worn it because the biggest size they had was X-Large so obviously it wasn't going to fit a 300+ person. I STILL have that tracksuit and I cannot wait until the day I will be able to wear it. The great thing is that we're only 4 days into the new year, so i KNOW that the day that tracksuit will fit me, is going to be THIS year!
