  1. I am staying on plan today because yesterday SUCKED and I am need to do better so I can feel better about myself!
  2. I would think that a couple of things about that would actually work FOR you. #1, it was 20 years ago and that's a long time, with the assumption you have never had any other issues, of course. And #2, you cured yourself. That shows a lot of personal strength and determination, both of which are very important traits if you are going to be successful with the band. Of course, I am not a doctor, but those are my thoughts . Good luck!!
  3. Mary, I am on the state health plan too, so if it weren't for DH's insurance, I wouldn't be covered either. I was thinking the same thing about writing our Congressmen, but it seems like there should be so much more we could do to help others in our same position who aren't fortunate enough to have other coverage or afford to be self pay. They just dropped the coverage in 2004, but i wonder why? So I take it everything went well with the psych eval? Kathy
  4. Which dr. did she use, if you don't mind me asking?
  5. I know what you mean...retired people are some of the busiest I know! I assume you are drinking Protein shakes? Any suggestions on a good one?
  6. Hi Charlietuna and welcome to LBT! The best piece of advice I can give you is to spend some time reading around on this site. There is a load of information here and answers to just about any question you could ask. Good luck and be sure to keep us posted on your progress!
  7. Thank you all so much! I know I am just in the "practice phase" for the band, but I still can't help but get frustrated sometimes. All of your encouraging words mean a lot. I really did start this thread to see how everyone did today, not just so I could whine. There is another thread about staying on plan today, so I tought this one could kinda be for the end of the day for celebration or confession. So, how did YOU do today?
  8. You give me hope!! I also have Anthem and was submitted for approval on Monday, 4/14. Maybe the wait won't be as hard as I anticipated??? Good luck to you both!!
  9. I failed misreably!! I need to figure out what is going on with me. I have been having cravings like mad lately and nothing will make them go away until I jsut give in! That's not good at all. Looks like it's time to drag out the journal and see what is lurking in the back of my mind making me nuts! I WILL do better tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Sorry you had to go through this, especially the aggrivation of the doctors trying not believing your feelings about your own body. GEEZ!! Glad you are feeling better now. As Apple said, talk to your Professors and explain what happened. All they can say is no and at least you will have tried. Good luck!
  11. Finally got on a computer that would let me see the pics and I must say - BooBoo, you look AWESOME!!! Congratulations on surpassing your goal. What a way to treat yourself! You are such an inspiration!! Now if the banner pic would just stop flipping back and forth between you and that apple chick... THAT IS BLOWING MY MIND!!!!
  12. Yes, I am waiting on insurance approval then will probably wait until summer to have surgery. I work in the school system, so I thought that would be best for me. No pressure to return to work before i'm ready. So you are feeling ok, other than being hungry?
  13. That's how I feel too. Unfortunately, thaat wasn't an issue for me.
  14. Welcome to LBT and congratulations on your band! You have found an excellent source for information and support here. Good lcuk to you and keep us posted on your progress!
  15. Sorry you are having all of these complications. I hope you get things cleared up soon. Good luck!!
  16. The cost varies. Quite a few people here have gone to Mexico to have their surgery because it was cheaper. Also, I think most people stay at least one night in the hospital.
  17. There is a lot of information here. Browse around, learn what you can to help you make and educated choice, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Good luck!!
  18. Oh Natalie! I am so sorry! I know it is frustrating, especially when you come here and others with the same carrier have the surgery. Your employer must exclude it though. I'm glad he is going to work with you and try to find some way to do it. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  19. Hi and welcome to LBT! Congratulations on your decision to get banded and good luck!
  20. Hi Jesi! Someone else posted a question about UHC a few days ago. Check the insurance thread and you should be able to find some information there. Good luck!
  21. There was actually a poll on one of the other threads about this not too long ago. The majority of us said we would gain weight if it would help us to get our surgery covered by insurance. If I were you, I would do as others suggested and check my policy first. If gaining a couple of pounds will help get coverage, I would start eating!
  22. This site is a wonderful resource for information and support, but only if you can find out what you want to know, so ask away! Good luck to you!!
  23. Hi, Tracy and welcome to LBT! How is it going since surgery? Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
  24. Hi Kelly from a fellow South Carolinian! What part are you from? You have found a great place for information and support here. Welcome to LBT and good luck to you!!
  25. Is that a requirement of the doctor or your insurance? Also, what is he calling "a complete work up"?
