Excited to begin this journey!

Hi everybody-

I am a mom of 2 boys, 3 and 1, have struggled with weight issues since I can remember, have a strong family history of obesity, etc......I have been researching Lap Band for quite a while and was waiting for my insurance to change to pursue anything at all. I am PRAYING that my insurance will cover a good portion if I am deemed to be a good candidate. I personally feel I am a great candidate, but am very afraid I will be just shy of the criteria for the procedure (.

My BMI is 36-37, I don't really have comorbidities unless things like knee and back pain/problems, varicose veins and acid reflux count (not sure that those things would count).

I have United Healthcare now and it seems to be a pretty comprehensive plan for our family - does anyone have experience with UHC and coverage of LB?

Also, is/was anyone kind of on the line as far as being a candidate for the procedure. I am obviously at the very beginning of this process so I would love any info I can get my hands on. I am planning to go to the informational meeting this week or next at the local bariatric center (Orlando).

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jesi! Someone else posted a question about UHC a few days ago. Check the insurance thread and you should be able to find some information there. Good luck!

I have United Health Care and they were fast and approved my surgery within 2weeks of my doctor submitting all their requirements. I also have two boys, they will be 3 and 4 in May:)
