  1. As a country it is a disgrace how we neglect our veterans and their families when it comes to mental health. Please make sure you take care of yourself. Even if he only hurts you emotionally, that is not acceptable. Sending prayers.
  2. This is so great to hear. Thank you for the update!
  3. If he is that controlling and is not following his treatment plan and "flips" over the idea of treatment or counseling, the least of your worries is your weight loss. Are you safe? Does he go beyond controlling behavior? Does he hurt you? I definitely recommend that you talk to a professional.
  4. I don't know that 100 grams is necessarily "too much". My protein target is 100 grams. We don't store protein so we need as much as our body uses. Any excess will be converted to energy and stored, and since the liver stores that energy first, maybe the surgeon is just being overly conservative about protein pre-op so that doesn't happen.
  5. I was told that I could swim after the incisions were completely closed up with no holes. It was about four weeks. Definitely talk to your surgeon.
  6. It is possible. Almost everyone loses a lot of Water weight when they start a new diet. In addition, you are burning all the energy stored in your liver (the reason for the pre-op diet). There is a reason every commercial diet advertised on TV advertises that if you follow their diet you can lose up to twenty pounds in two weeks. Everything that goes into this rapid weight loss will balance out when you hit a stall about three weeks after surgery.
  7. Are you sure their portions are off? Years ago I had a roommate who worked at a fast food restaurant and they were obsessive about portions. She was very well trained. If she picked up grated cheese with her fingers it was the exact amount.
  8. I wouldn't think it would matter. For my pre-op diet, the only thing my surgeon was concerned about was that I didn't have any starches or sugars. Protein and fats were not limited. As a matter of fact he encouraged us to eat a lot of protein.
  9. This is a great question for your surgeon or NUT. My first week was clears, but my surgeon allowed a couple of exceptions (namely premier protein and a couple of ProtiDiet soups). I also used the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates undiluted. They are clear.
  10. Chocolate Protein shakes, chocolate Protein Bars (Quest double chocolate), chocolate protein pudding, adding cocoa powder to my oatmeal, and chocolate Calcium chews. If all else fails, a small piece of dark chocolate.
  11. First, it sounds like you need more Fluid. 50-64 oz isn't a minimum of 64 oz. You need at least 64 oz. How much protein are you getting in every day? What is your protein target? Are you exercising? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements? Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  12. That isn't healthy, for either of you. If he is unwilling to seek couple's counseling, then go on your own.
  13. What kind of fish? I found that the sauce on one of the gorton's grilled fish selections was too greasy and made me a bit woozy.
  14. I didn't but I have read plent of posts from folks who did. Just let them Know when you check in, the nurses can provide you with a pad and granny panties (or at least so I've heard!).
  15. Why are you trying not to go over 600 calories? Are you getting in all of your protein and fluids?
  16. It is very common to have pre-op anxiety and jitters. For me, it came down to me having a chance to live or choosing death sooner rather than later if I didn't have surgery, If you haven't already done so, sit down and make a list of all the positives and negatives for having surgery and for not having surgery. For me, the pre-op uncertainty was the worst part of the entire experience. The actual surgery, recover, and my experience over the last year has been great. I am a little over half way to goal and my life is already completely different. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
  17. You may not get any ready answers soon as he may not know why, either.
  18. It's not a race. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience periodic stalls and slow downs. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, exercise when cleared, stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  19. Have you had a lot of sodium or noticed any swelling? If you were a woman I would assume water retention, since you are a man that may not be the right answer. Definitely talk to your surgeon about it when you follow up. In the meantime, try upping both your water and your protein a bit.
  20. Fair or not, more goes into scheduling surgery than your preference. Just have faith that it is happening when it's supposed to happen. Congratulations on the weight loss by the way!
  21. 1/2 a serving/portion should be ok, at least based on my Program. You could divide it up over a couple of meals.
  22. When I was on soft foods, I ate soft fish: grilled salmon at a cookout was the first. Not much later, I had shrimp and scallops at a hibachi restaurant. You can find soft foods at restaurants, especially nicer restaurants.

  24. My guess is that if you increase your water/fluid to at least 64 oz and start tracking your food to make sure you are getting in enough protein you may start losing again. What is your protein target? How do you know whether or not you are reaching it if you don't track your food?
