So great to hear from the over 60 crowd. I was beginning to think I was biting of more than I should. I am excited now to get started. Looking forward to hearing your updates.

That was a really big concern for me as my insurance does not cover any weight loss treatment and will not cover any complications caused by weight loss surgery. I am 5 days post op from Mexico and everything has been text book. Thank the Good Lord and everyone on here who sent prayers up for me.
Anyway, I will see my GP for BP and endocrinologist for diabetes, and hope for the best.
As for my surgeon in Mexico, Dr. jaime Ponce de leon has a great team and I couldn't have been in better hands. I had the sleeve, gallbladder removal, and a small hernia repaired. The Docs and nurses at INT Hospital said I did better with my 3 procedures than most people do with just the one procedure.

haleytrim reacted to grandma54 in 1 Week Post-Op! Dr. Jaime Ponce De Leon Tijuana via BariatricPal Deals
I am going with Dr. Ponce Dr Leon in January. At first I was sceptical because I had not heard much about him but I buddied up with @@haleytrim and she has helped calm most of my fears. His cocoordinator thru Bariatric Pal - David Lopez has also been a Superstar!! Patient and thorough and yes, always available to take my calls. My nervousness now is just the nervousness before any surgery. I will update as time goes on.

That is so awesome! I know exactly what you mean about the blood sugar and blood pressure. I feel so positive about things now that I don't have to take insulin and a other meds I was taking. Just a little advice. Don't miss drinking your Protein and get in as much Water as you can. It will make you feel bad and nauseas if you don't. I did learn that the hard way. But am getting the hang of this now.

haleytrim got a reaction from Judy McGovern in GAINING weight first week post-op? What's happening?
Yep, these posters are absolutely correct. I gained 5 pounds in the hospital from IV's and bloating. Took a week for the
gas and bloating and IV Fluid to dissipate. Now, at 18 days post, I have lost 24 pounds. It WILL happen.

I just talked to my hairdresser today about this same thing. She suggested Biotin, which you are already taking. She also advised me to drink a cup of tea with a tablespoon of organic coconut oil and some honey to taste twice a day. She also says that she does a coconut oil hair treatment once a week. Couldn't hurt.

Hey roundisashape Thanks for your good thoughts. I read somewhere on here that acid reflux could make you feel nauseas and sick. I had to start back taking my Nexium again and felt 95% better still a little shaky from not being able to get in enough liquids or Protein. Yea!!!! Thanks again to all the Vets.

roundisashape So glad you posted this. I needed a laugh this morning. Everyone else thanks for the posts and suggestions. I have been down for the last two days because after things have been going so well, I have started to have the yucks for the last 2 days and been very weak and shaky. Just the thought of putting something in my mouth, even broth, triggers my gag reflex. No pain, just the severe nausea. I am trying to force as much liquid as possible and I think the suggestion of mixing the Protein shakes with ice will help. Thanks again for all the posted suggestions.

haleytrim reacted to Suzamundo in Breast augmentation: What size?
I have had my breasts done THREE TIMES! I was a very thin size 4 when I had them done initially and they were D's. I looked good, I guess, if you want to look like a stripper. I made a double breasted blazer look sexy.:-). First go round - over the muscle. Big mistake. Looked amazing for 6 months and then started to fall. Had to have them redone and placed under the muscle after 12 months. Very expensive. Then - a few years go by and a few pounds go on and they just make you look FAT, not sexy. So, back for third time for smaller, narrower implants. Now, I wish they were even smaller because it is not in style to have big breasts at ALL, they ruin the line in clothes and as the years go by I just find them to look more and more matronly. I can't face doing them again or I would. Nothing bigger than a small C. That's a sexy size but "wearable." Victoria's Secret models are Bs, by the way. You can always choose bras that take your nice tight B or C and bring them up a size if you like - but you don't need to be stuck carrying these overly large things around all the time.:-)

I'm still new in this game, but I can tell you that all the advice I've read from people who posted above me is sound. My doctor is an excellent surgeon, but has the worst bedside manner on the planet. He originally told me that I HAD to walk 30 minutes 2X a day before my surgery and every day after, then get myself into a gym, a pool, or do something, or I wouldn't loose my weight. I told him (before my surgery) that I couldn't even walk down the driveway to get the mail because my knees and ankles hurt so much. His response was..... you have to move whether you like it or not.
He made me cry even before I had my surgery. His nurses on the other hand are wonderful people and understood my issue. They have all told me the same thing....
We can't motivate ourselves to do something we simply just can't do. Our BODIES will motivate us as they feel stronger and more able. The key is to really believe that you can help your body heal and grow stronger, and the way to do that is to just push it a little each day. It might be just as others have said......take a few steps around the room today. Tomorrow, take those same steps then add a few more, maybe to another room. A little further each day until you're standing outside, then a few steps on the driveway. Before you know it your body, not you mind, will "motivate" you to go just a little further.
I believed them, and only 2 weeks post op I believe my body. I've only lost 24 lbs since I started my pre-op liquid diet, but I feel better than I have in a very long time. Believe it or not, my knees and my ankle don't hurt nearly like they did. I don't know if it's the 24lbs, the difference in what I'm putting into my stomach or what, but I did what they suggested, and just today I not only walked to the mailbox, I walked up the street the distance of 3 houses, which are pretty far apart because we all have at least 2 acres of property between us and back without any trouble.
So, believe in yourself....believe in your body and you will be able to do this.

I'm not sure if anyone is struggling with finding ways to moisten the food they eat but I found Barilla makes a light Alfredo Sauce and Bella Vita makes several flavored Pasta sauces that are pretty good tasting. I obviously do not use them on pasta but chicken or deli turkey and vegetables. Whatever you can get creative with using it on. I Just thought I would share as these are better tasting than Walden Farms in my opinion.

I am Type II diabetic. I was taking Janumet twice a day and 75 units of Levemir twice a day. I had my sleeve surgery on 11/17. I haven't had any insulin since I got out of the hospital. I am still taking the Janumet and will until my blood sugar drops under 120. I'm almost there. Also I was on 6 other meds, and including the Janumet I am on 3 meds now. I am thrilled and hope to
be off the blood pressure meds before long.

Type I or Type II diabetes? I had Type II. Was insulin dependent for almost 3 years. 150 units of Levemir per day plus Janumet twice a day. Sleeved on 11/17/14 and am no longer on any
    insulin.

Anything in a size 8 would make me gush but at this point getting out of a size with a W in front is going to be dreamy. I have lost 38 lbs so far but have a ways to go. Boots would be amazing as my calves are too thick but I lost one inch already. Bit by bit I'll get there. You watch me!
