  2. In a word YES!!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat, it has only been two months and I am thrilled with the results, and I am feeling healthier each and every day. It gets easier as I go along, I know what to eat, and I choose the healthiest things to put into my mouth, four months ago, that would not have been the case. Now when tempted by the bad stuff, I turn away not even wanting it. I know that purging my body of the refined flour and sugars was the best things I could have ever done for my body. My IBS has disappeared, I no longer take ACIPHEX for my GERD, and I am doing wonderful. I work out 6 days a week, and have become addicted to the exercise, which is far better than addicted to food....LOL No question the best decision I have ever made just for myself!!
  3. I am 46 and I think my weightloss has been awesome since Nov 9th surgery!! I think it is how much you workout, it will depend on how fast and how much you lose. You also must follow the program and eat the right things, and the right amount......and absolutely no cheating on drinking with meals.....!!
  4. I experienced this from the 27 of December til around the 15th and I actually increased my calories by 150 a day and I changed up my workouts and I began losing again.....it worked wonders for me I lost 6 pounds in a week. I do believe if you eat something like carbs for example I ate a cookie the next morning I lost 2 pounds I think it kicks my metabolism into gear. I know it sounds nuts, but it worked both times I have tried it since surgery. I am feeling great right now, and I know that this wieght is going to come off!! For GOOD!!
  5. Yeap it happened to me, and Protein too, it is so important to get both in and excersize too...hehehehehehe It is making a huge difference in the size of my butt...LMAO
  6. I lost my weight immediately after surgery and have been losing ever since. There was a two week period right after Christmas where I did not lose but I made up for that the following week by losing 6 pounds. I have stuck strictly to my program and eat 3 ounces at meals, 3 times a day no Snacks and I drink two Protein shakes a day mid morning and mid afternoon. If I want a bite of cookie I have it, but only a bite not the whole cookie. I work out 5-6 days a week, and I have increased the intensity of these workouts, I am beginning a Body Pump class this Friday to being my strength training. I love my Water aerobics classes, and I look forward to them, although they make me tired....LOL I am anxious to see my surgeon on the 7th and see what he says, I think he will be quite please with me. I HAVE NO FILL......I have no hunger, and I am thrilled beyond words with my BAND!!!
  7. I have not craved any bad food since my Band. I find it is easy to make the healthy choices, it is what I look forward too because it is what keeps me between meals. I know eating my Protein first and keeping my meals healthy has helped me to not be hungry between meals. I stay away from bread it gets stuck, I have trouble with some crackers, so I am staying away from them. I just don't want junk anymore at all, I have had a bite of cake or cookie or whatever a few times since surgery but it has been very limited. I do not crave sugar since it is so limited in my diet, I have no desire for it. I find it is like when I gave up Salt over 25 years ago. I hate things that are super salty now....except for of course chips....they were my downfall before surgery.
  8. Longhorn that sounds very interesting......adding it to the oatmeal. It has 7 grams of Protein in one serving. I have really gotten used to eating it for breakfast, sometimes on the weekends I will have eggs and a strip of bacon though. Like I said before I am trying to change things up a bit!!
  9. Refried Beans eggs Cottage cheese Parmesean Cheese Are some of the things I use to get my Protein, you can mix refired beans salsa and add cottage cheese instead of sour creme and it is yummy and you get a band of protein from that. I always am trying to add protein. If you add parmesean cheese to chicken that is a double wammy of protein. Those are some of the suggestions I have. I drink V-8 juice to help get in my vegtables each day.
  10. I am still eating with the baby spoons that they gave me at the hospital so YES I eat the pencil eraser size...LOL It makes me slow down, with this utensil and it makes me concentrate on the taste and texture too. I use the small containers to eat out of as well. I do not eat with normal size plates, bowls or anything.......I was told I should do this forever, it will help me stay on track!! I have no problem doing it, nor do I feel weird. I love how people look at me though like I am nuts when I am eating in these small devices with my baby spoon in public....LOL
  11. I chew gum everday even though I was advised not to preband. I know others who chew it and as long as I do not accidently swallow it I am fine. I am very careful when I chew it. I had to give up enough I feel with this surgery.....I am not giving up my gum. I will take my chances, but I am sorry to hear about your ordeal......it sounds pretty awful!! I hope it passes on its own eventually!
  12. I too have noticed the change in my internal temperature.....I am cold most of the time now, and I always am under a blanket while watching tv and I sleep with three blankets on top of me and in warm PJ's. Before my weightloss I was the person with the fan on in the winter in the bedroom and drove with my windows cracked in the winter without a coat....LOL
  13. I can now fit comfortably in a booth, before surgery it was a squeeze and my tummy was partly lying on the table....LMAO Now I have huge space between me and the table....LOVE IT!!
  14. Went this morning.....I have been going 5 - 6 times a week and rotate the workouts, from water aerobics to biking to wlaking on the treadmill, will try the eliptical after the next 20 pounds is off, it still hurts my knees. I love the workouts and I look forward to them, they are addicting in my opinion. I am thrilled to be active again though after so many years of a sedintary lifestyle. I have more energy than ever.
  15. Holly: I do love the oatmeal and I hated oatmeal before surgery....hehehehehe so that is a good thing I think. Because I know how healthy it is and you are right it sticks to my bones. It holds me til my next meal. I love my tuna salad and it too is long lasting, it hold me very well. I have tried to spice things up a bit I found when I eat the same things over and over my body get to used to it. I have also found if I eat something a little higher calorie once a week it helps to get that 2 pounds off in a hurry. For example I lost one pound last Friday and then on Saturday I had an oatmeal cookie and on Sunday I lost 2 more pounds......I know it works this is the second time it happened to me.....LOL I do limit any sugar though, and I don't have much, my carbs are controlled and so is my fat.....I think it is very important not to fall into that eating disorder mode that they spoke to us about in our classes preop. There are alot of people who get so scared to eat they live on shakes and Soup and that is setting yourself up for a eating disorder they told us. So I am trying really hard to eat all my calories. I will be giving up the shakes when I hit my three months out here in a couple of weeks. And then it is get all my Protein from my food!!!! Holly as for drinking the Water I am literally constantly drinking, and I mean that literally I carry my water bottle with me everywhere even to the bathroom.....LOL I know that my bottles of water are two cups and I try to drink 5 of them a day. I manage 4 1/2 right now and that is drinking constantly when I am not eating....LOL I know is I do not get in my water, I have a stall in my weightloss......
  16. I use sparkpeople.com and I love it. It has kept me honest with myself!! I know what I eat everday and I monitor it. I have become compulsive about my logging and my excersing!! Hey I can live with that!!

  18. You look amazing and Hats off to you for your huge accompishments to date!! I was told it takes a long while for our minds to catch up with what we see! I was told that I might not notice the changes in myself because our minds have the picture of what we look like, and it takes this time to change or catch up. I do not know how long it takes, all I know is that I feel my changes and I do not see them. Trust me you look amazing though!!
  19. I was told the BAND would afford me 1-2 pounds per week weight loss! This is suppose to be a slow process. Not like GB and other more invasive procedures like the DS. I chose my BAND because I wanted slow and steady, giving my body time to catch up to the changes, and my skin a chance perhaps to shrink back. I think so far it has been dramatic. I believe the more we have to lose the faster it will be in the beginning.......but it will all even out. The closer we get to goal the harder it might become. It is hard to not think we should be losing 10 pounds a week, because the is exactlly what I did the week of perop! Sure it was possible but I was only on Clear Liquids. LOL........I figure as long as the scale is moving that is success, it hasn't moved in years except to climb, climb, climb!! We all deserve KUDOS for jobs well done, to take the step in the first place was huge, to stay on course......heck that deserves an Academy Award in my humble opinion.....LOL!:biggrin2:
  20. My Dr and nutritionist sugested Flintstones Cheweables and said they are perfect vitamin take two one in the am and one if the evening. I use the Flintstones Compelete and I get them at Walmart. He said they are a perfect vitamin and there is no need for anything else. I also take a Calcium supplement I found calcium chews that are cramel flavored at WalMart and I use them. I also take Biotin that I get at Walmart and it is for hair, skin and nails. I started the Biotin 1 week after surgery. The quicker the better is what my Dr. said. This helps with hair loss. My nails are awesome. I always wore artrificial nails. I had them removed one month prior to my surgery. My natural nails are longer than the artificial nails ever where. So I think the supplement is helping. I use unjury protein and it is the best out there in my opinion. I tried Pofect and hated it. I got the chicken Soup for my clear liquid phase because I had clear liquids for three days post op and 7 days pre op. I hope this helps some!

  22. I was afraid to post to this thread....LOL I have no fill and do not feel I need one as of yet.......I have no hunger still since surgery. I am losing just fine, though I did have a 14 day period where I had not lost any weight but have since lost 7 pounds. I am able to eat my 3 ounce meals just as I have all along and I feel full and no need to eat more. I am not snakcing on anything in between meals. I am exercising 5-6 times a week and am intensifying these workouts. I only drink Water and Milk and V-8 juice. I am always careful to eat my Protein first and chew and chew and chew, the food is not an issue at this time. I do not see my Dr until Feb 7th I am anxious for him to see me. I want to be down 40 pounds when I see him, I think I am going to make that goal.....YIPPEE!!
  23. I am 46 years old and I work for a very large Medical Group, 7 hospitals and 80 offices with 200 physicians in two states; and I bill insurance all day long, I talk to patients about their bills and work with insurance companies. I love my job. I have been overweight my entire adult life since becoming pregnant with my first child. I was about 40 pounds over weight when I lost my son in 1988 to cancer he was 4 1/2. Since then I put on 100 pounds and my highest known weight was 287 my pre surgery weight. I am married to my best friend for the last 28years, we will Celebrate our 28th anniversary on March 15th. He is fulltime in the Air National Guard and he will be deployed in May for his second tour in the Middle East. I have a daughter who is married and has two sons my grandsons Adam and Cole. Adam is named after my son Adam. We had his 4th birthday party today and he was so cute. He loves dinosaurs, in fact he is obsessed with them. That is all he talks about or wants....LOL I live in the Central Midwest and it is DAMN cold here today......feels like the artic outside. I have two dogs Kodi (gordon setter) Bear (Yorkie) and I lost my Amber(gordon setter) on September 8th 2007. She was my sweetheart. I miss her every day she is chasing rainbows in heaven with my son. I can not express enough how much I love my new life and my new way of eating and being healthy. I love how I feel. I love that I have energy and am not always exhausted. I love that I look forward to doing things now, because I am not always hurting or aching somewhere. I know the next 6 months are going to be tough ones and I know that as I get closer to goal I will have to work that much harder, but I am up for this challenge. I would advise anyone considering having this surgery to do it. I would never say NOT to. It has saved my life.
