  1. everytime someone asks something like this on here it reminds me of this book my mom read (which was a true story) about some settlers from the Ukraine or something, and they made this pudding and it has all this thickner stuff in it, and the little girl went missing and they found her dead in the basement b/c she ate all the pudding and her stomach exploded. I hate to say it, but that would have been my life story if I was a little girl in the 1800's!!!!
  2. I am so jealous! I can't wait to have some PS but I need to have kids 1st! I'm sure you look amazing!!!!!! Yeah to flat tummies!
  3. facts schamcts, studies schmudies, statistics schmatistics....... Sure I cared about all that before I got banded, but right now all I know is I know WAY TOO MANY RNY people that are packing back on the pounds. I really hope that this doesn't happen to bandsters once the band has been out awhile longer, but even if it does, at least I know I can get my band out and my stomach will still be the same. For me, re-routing my intestines just never was, has been, or will be any kind of option. Even if it had no death rate and no listed side effects, I'm just not ready to get cut up at this point in my life.
  4. Also, fills and exersize make a difference. I could probably use a slight fill now but I hate the fill process so much that I keep putting it off. I also stopped exersizing and now have started again. Weigh loss stalls when your body catches on to what's up and you have to exersize or change what/when/how you eat to jump start it again.
  5. I love Isopure vanilla!!! It's at GNC for $50 but my hubby said he saw it at smoothie factory for $37.
  6. I also met my hubby when I had gone on zoloft and was at the lowest weight since high school. I kept packing on the pounds and he really didn't like it - some because of how I looked, but I think more so b/c of my bad attitude about myself. Anyways, he was pretty much supportive about the band and he says he loves me no matter what but I do know the excess weight bothers him. Anyways, our relationship is definatley better now, the sex is better, I feel better about myself, etc. I don't really know what to say about your situation except that I sympathize with you and I hope you all work it out. Counseling could help. If you can't work it out and you get a divorce, you'll survive just like the rest of 1/2 of America that's divorced. I think your main focus should be getting happy for yourself, whether that's with or without your hubby.
  7. I went to advancedpatientfinancing.com and they provided my info to several lenders and picked the best interest rate.
  8. Also, while I'm bitching and moaning, I haven't lost any weight in like 4-5 weeks. Just thought I'd throw a complaint in there too!
  9. Ok, so ever since I got banded my periods have been off schedule. I didn't have one for 3 1/2 months, then I bled for a weel, then like 2 weeks later I bled for like 3 weeks, then another month went by and not I'm having a period that seems to be on schedule (as in it's occuring one month from the last one) but all these periods have been SO SO SO heavy and SO much longer than pre-band (pre-band I was average flow for 4 days). So, what is going on? Is there still build-up from when I missed a few periods? I'm so tired of it! I've had this period for 5 days now and it is so heavy that it is waking me up in the middle of the night.
  10. thanks BOO, Im sure that is part of it - stress stress stress!
  11. Does anyone else have depression spells? I had them all the time pre-band of course, b/c I was so unhappy with my weight, etc. But now I find that I have some that are just as bad. I guess it's because it's hard to have forked out 13 thousand dollars and not get instant results. I am so happy to be losing the weight, but in a society of instant gratification it's hard to be 5 1/2 months out and not anywhere near looking the way I want to. I dunno, guess I need to just snap out of it.
  12. I have been banded for 5 months and EVERYDAY I still have to force myself to slow it down when I eat, take small bites, etc. If it's been 5 months and I am still "retraining" my brain, then I am even more sure I couldn't have even begun to do that without the band.
  13. I weighed 145 before surgery and I'm 5'6. Anyways, give it one more try - why not. I just think it's ridiculous that some doctors think you could just diet - HELLO, if that was working we wouldn't be where we're at now! I'd like to see one bandster that didn't try dieting at least 50 times before getting surgery!
  14. I graduate law school in May. Then I will disappear for 3 months while I take the bar exam. Then Hubby is taking me on a cruise and hopefully I'll be bathing suit ready by August! Then I will work at a lawyer for the firm I work for now, doing family law and Social Security disability (and maybe some criminal law).
  15. I wanna come! anytime is fine with me
  16. Breakfast - 1/4 of a cinnamon roll lunch - 4 peices of sushi dinner - 1 taco desert - 1/2 a sugar free ice cream bar total calories on fit day 1150
  17. Let's use your two examples: Taco bell before band - 1 Nacho grande, 1 supreme taco and a frito burrito with band - 1/2 a nacho order Golden Corral before band - everything with band - a few bites of a few things Before the band I tried diets but my problem was that I couldn't resist the food demons and I would go binging after dieting. Now, when I have good restrictions (which it took a few fills to get that) I have no problem with portion size. I do feel full and satisfied after one taco or whatever. And there's so many times I say "that looks so good but I literally couldn't eat another bite" and I'm serious! Now, that said, I still think I'm a slower loser than some because I make bad food choices. I shouldn't be eating at Taco Bell, regardless of whether it's one taco or 5! It's junk food! I don't desire food in the same way I did before but I still get cravings for fast food or whatever, and I have to try to deal with it like I tried before, but I can deal with it better with my band b/c I can't deny myself Taco Bell for lunch and then go eat 8000 calories at dinner.
  18. Yeah!!!!!!! I'm right behind you - trying to get to onederland!
  19. I never had hiccups before my last fill but now I get them alot, I think it's from eating too fast.
  20. Yeah for you and here's wishing you a speedy recovery. try the isopure vanilla - tastes ALOT better!
  21. I track my calories on fitday - everyday for 3 months now. It helps alot, escpecially to hold myself accountable when I eat a hershey kiss or two or three - It all adds up. Right now I am eating about 1500 cal. per day. I would really like to get that down to 1200, but I need to make better food choices!
  22. I started with a BMI of 38. I had some things I guess you could consider co-morbidities: knee problems, back pain, a hiatal hernia and GERD. I think doctors don't care if you have co-mobid issues as long as you are self-pay (like me). Always been the "big boned girl", my weight loss has been slow, but slow and steady so that's good, right. Good luck to you!
  23. I emailed DeLarla and gave her my phone # and asked her to check up on me if I didn't come back to this website. Looking back I was SOOO freaked out because I had never had surgery but it was seriously no big deal. I came out of the aneshtetic better than when I had a twilight sleep for a colonoscopy. I'm not scared of surgery anymore, and NOONE has ever died in band surgery. I think a few people have died of complications but it's just times like the surgeon nicked thier stomach and they had problems but didn't go back for follow up. Point is, everything will be fine, and if something doesn't feel right afterwards, call your doc! Anyways, you'll be fine!!!!
  24. Also, my fill doc always blames it on me - says it's what I ate or how I chewed,,.,, well, I understand he wants to cover his ass, but the bottom line is there is no science to fills and sometimes a fill can be too tight even if you are being a perfect bandster!
  25. drink some coffee - the warmth usually soothes my throat. get an unfill - I felt this way before, and it's a vicious cycle of being stuck and swollen. My .2 cc unfill made a HUGE difference.
