sotabee reacted to FairySleeve in Portion of Food, 9th day post op
Hi there, I'm now on 9th day post-op.
I'm just concerned about the portion/amount of liquid food (now only Soup and yogurt).
I didn't have neither food or drink until the 4th day post-opI started small around 2 tablespoons per meal but the last two days I felt so tired with low energy so I decided to increase the amount to 3.5 Ounces for lunch and dinner,
I eat 4 times a day but for the afternoon I eat a bit less than other meals.
I'm not hungry. I eat for energy but it's weird that I don't feel the pressure of fullness neither!! Now I'm not sure if I eat too much or not enough?!! > <
Could anyone please advice me on this?? I'd highly appreciate it. Thank you.
PS. From 1-5 days post op I lost 7.7 lbs, then I lost between 0.9 - 2 lbs per day.
So far I've lost 12.98 lbs.

I am stalled after I started weight training and working with a trainer. I had heard of that before but never experienced it. Weight is stuck at 215-216 for the last 2 weeks. Anyone else experience this? Very discouraging.

I'm getting sleeved on Tuesday, I'm on my period too! Ugh. Like I needed an extra reason to be cranky other than 3 days on Clear Liquids. Lol
Good luck!! Catheter won't be as bad as you think, I had those with my c-sections. It doesn't hurt, just feels weird, but that's only when they are taking it out, while it's in place you won't feel it at all. :-)

Hey all! I am new to this site but it seems like the best way to go. I was sleeved on June 26th so I am now 10 days post op. I started my full liquid phase but immediately stopped losing the gradual weight I had been. In fact I gained. Is that normal? I log my food and watch calories/carbs/sugar, I follow what the classes and the nutritionist said. I want so badly to be successful and have finally become able to be more active since I am still healing. Have any of you dealt with this so soon? I need peace of mind!

I'm 4 weeks post-op (Gastric Sleeve) and have stalled it seems. I've lost 32 lbs since my surgery date of May 23, but can't seem to get below 224. I'm doing everything I know to do and will be sadly disappointed if I did this to only lose 32 lbs.
    HELP!

sotabee reacted to tnpeach in Surgery was June 18 My thoughts
I had surgery on June 18. I had to have a pick line. My Dr recommends them. This was the best I did not have to worry about them finding a vein (I am always a hard stick). In recovery I found out that I had a hiatal hernia. This was fixed. I had gallbladder surgery back in 1972. There was a ton of scar tissue that had to be cleaned out. My stomach was stuck to everything, liver everything it touched. They did do a biopsy on the liver and have not heard about this yet.
I did not have gas in my shoulder so I am really lucky with that. (I think I would have had it by now if I was going to) I ended up staying 2 nights due to the pain. I did not realize that when Water hit my stomach it was going to feel like a fire poker. They order a Magic Mouthwash best thing ever. It has Benadryl, Maalox, and some numbing meds. once you swallow it numbs everything down to your stomach,. This allowed me to drink without the pain. I have not taken the pain meds for 2 days (More uncomfortable than anything)
The problem is I had no idea it would be so hard to get the Water in. I always drank lots of water. As for eating.. lol who would have ever thought I would have a hard time eating. It is like you are forcing yourself to eat and drink. I realize this will all get better in time. It has not been a week as of yet. One more thing, I did not realize how tired and weak I would be. I was going to take a drink during every commercial but I can not make it thru an hour show without falling asleep. I know it is just time. I am on liquids for another 2 weeks then to soft for 3 weeks the regular food. Come on I want to move past this phase.

Don't kick yourself please, It'll only leave you with bruises! What's done is done. This is all a part of learning, so pick yourself up. Forgive yourself for being human and start again. You can do this! You faced surgery, that takes a lot of guts!!! This is only a little bump in your road. When we learned to walk we had to crawl first then it took some stumbles and some falls to finally learn to walk. This is no different. You've had your first stumble, it doesn't mean you'll never walk or run. So back on the shakes and off you go again.

Yes I don't have any restrictions. But I don't drink soda and I limit my coffee to one cup a day. I tolerate all foods but I choose not to eat refined carbs.

Hi, first congrats! Are you able to eat and drink now with noissuigs just maller portions?
Yesterday was my one year surgiversary of the sleeve. I was so nervous about it, but it was one of the best decisions I've made. I've lost 131 pounds and counting. My foot pain is gone, I'm active and feel great. I've gone from a size 22 to an 8 and actually enjoy shopping now. I'm able to do any activities my kids ask of me. I couldn't be happier!

Hi I am scheduled for surgery on July 10th. I am excited but very nervous and even a bit scared. Even though I have done all requirements for surgery and lots of research and read tons of information on this surgery I still have many questions. So I wanted to ask those who are going to have the actusl and true answers since you have experienced this surgery.
Would you do it again knowing all you know and what you have experienced? I know first few weeks liquids and protien shakes but can you eat real food again? What are biggest highs and what are worse things? Can you drink alcohol again once recovered and havre been on this new journey for awhile?
Thank you for any knowedge and support. I need some friends who are or have gone through same thingI am going to do.
