Pre-surgery jitters

Hey guys, I just got word that I am approved for surgery. I am having mixed emotions. I am very glad on one hand. I know this is the change I need in my life. I am 28 years old and have been overweight most of my life. Food is such a huge comfort for me and the thought of losing that is terrifying. I have been sad and depressed ever since hearing that I am approved. Sounds stupid right? Like I said, I know this will be life changing for me, for the better I am sure. I also do not have much support from my family. They are concerned and only are thinking of horror stories they have heard. Has anyone else dealt with these emotions? I am looking to have surgery the last week of July.

It's the exact same way for me. I have told limited family and friends. I know when my other friends, family and co-workers find out they are gonna have a fit. I can't help but feel that their motives are not genuine. I really think that some are jealous. I know many people see this as an "easy fix" and to be honest I used to feel the same way. I realize now how hard this is going to be.

Hi there! Congrats.

You are so young and it's so awesome you're doing this for yourself. I'm 44 years old - I went into this hoping that my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. That is a true statement. I lost too many years to being overweight, unhealthy and unhappy.

Kudos to you for nipping this in the bud! I have no regrets - my life is awesome now!
