Lap Band Cookbook Anyone?
Hello everyone!-It's been almost 2 years since my banding (08|14|07) and I am happy to say I am very pleased with my progress! I'm down about 65lbs=) and counting! I am sure I don't have to say this, but living with the Lapband has been quite a journey. I am sure all of us have our stories-right? I could go on and on but I want to get right to the point-feel free to contact me once you have read the post! I have begun to collect recipes for all stages of the lapband journey so that I may write and publish a cool, witty, cookbook. My goal is to write a book that we as "bandsters" can enjoy without giving up flavor or more importantly, leaving out the other members of the family or "non-bandsters" lol With that said- I know I have become extremely clever when it comes to recipes and food ideas that work with my lapband without skimping on flavor, or making me sick- So I can only imagine what you guys have come up with! Well I want to find out- WHAT ARE YOU GUYS COOKING!? How creative have you become to eat well and respect the lapband,AND keyword feed the entire family?? Please get back to me with your recipes MAINDISHES,Entrees,DESSERTS,appetizers,Soups whatever you guys have created that you want to share send it to me!! After all,who says eating healthy has to taste bad or be boring? I invite you guys to share your recipes, tips, and overall input to get the book done! I have been blessed with the creativity of an artist and the wit of a very well seasoned "home-cook" for the last 15 years, I have cooked, catered, and hosted my share of dinner parties-ALL of which has allowed me to come up with some great dishes that I have refined or reinvented since I had my surgery-I am always learning, experimenting, and trying new ideas! Food|cooking should be fun so to those that have given up on great taste and food enjoyment-NO THANKS lol! Lets eat! I would also welcome the advice of anyone out there who can help me get a publisher once the book is done, I am quite serious and want to help as many of us as possible, please help me with this project any and ALL advice is welcomed! I will respond to anyone who is serious and willing to help get the book done, thanks guys looking forward to hearing from you!

3rd fill brings 3 days of HELL!
Same for me when they found out I had lost almost 15lbs in less than a week they said I needed to get in there ASAP so I went from 1.8cc's to 1.2cc's feels so much better- I do not know if the elusive "sweet-spot" has been reached but at least I can drink water, and shakes now thanks for the words of advice guys!!

Okay...I'm Freaking Out!!
Hey guys, I just wanted to chime- in with my two cents here, I think you guys will do fine but you also have to realize that when you have this surgery, it changes how you deal with certain foods mentally. In other words, some things you think you cannot live without now may actually disgust you after the surgery-As for the donuts, cake, sushi etc well the first time it gets stuck you quickly decide if it's worth it. A lot of us find that our bodies crave things that are better for you- The cravings will come and you will decide what's best for you-good luck!

3rd fill brings 3 days of HELL!
I am going through the same thing, I had my second fill on 02/21 today is the 24th, the scale says I have lost 11lbs and I too can relate to the girgling and not tolerating water, shakes, even the sorbet came back up-I like the rapid drop in weight but I was shocked to lose so much so fast. Is this what the "working" band feels like? I have this weird feeling of heartburn and it feels so tight with the sometimes I can drink sometimes I can't- I hate to have the .08cc's taken down but this is sort of miserable. Even now I sit here at 3am posting this instead of sleeping good to know im not alone.

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Hey guys, I just had my second fill yesterday I also have a 4cc band and the doc took me up from 1cc which pretty much let me eat anything without restriction to 1.8cc's which has me barely able to drink water, theres no way such a slight fill is too much right?-Does it take a day or two to allow you to eat regular foods? I was told one day of liquids and then back to reg foods, but everything gets stuck, not to mention the terrible tightness in my chest is this the full feeling I hear so much about? I'm now terrified to eat anything! Advice please lol:cursing:

Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
Monica I am with you- I live alone in Brooklyn NY and the idea of paying for a gym membership right now is out of the question for me. I have done an excellent job of working out at home, jumping jacks, running, push ups etc. I got HIP HOP ABS dvd series and wow that workout reeeeeally works the body! I would highly recommend it especially if you don't like a lot of getting down on the floor!

Low Carb Recipies
Hmm the crabmeat sounds like a tasty addition, I made it last night and I was only able to eat 3, I made them about the size of a meatball. I would assume the caloric intake was right around that considering the ingredients. And yes I am not so big on bread either but I think the spinach made it tolerable but we are all different just use care!

Help with my research Please
Hey guys, LILY76 it's not just you I crave Chocolate milk constantly!! I started buying the 2% Lactaid Milk (pricey but worth it) and I add lowfat chocolate syrup to it. I do not think the cravings ever really go away. Doctor advises to listen to them if not too outlandish lol- One thing I have learned is that we are each told very different things depending on your surgeon, location, band type, and what your nutritionist has set forth for patients. These people are all priceless but the truth is-unless you have been through this procedure you cannot be certain of what will or won't work! Bread no bread, eggs no eggs, beans no beans, milk etc all relative to the individual tolerance. Go with what works for you.

Low Carb Recipies
Hey guys!! Dropped 3 more lbs since Monday wow!! I have a great recipe for you guys and it's reeeally good! Less than 150 calories here is what you need: My friends all love this appetizer they swear I put meat in it, for us it can be a great snack,or meal I plan a grilled chicken breast fillet w/mine, and best of all the spinach makes it so healthy, and even for those of us that can't tolerate bread this one works without any pain!! Let me know what you guys think! if you have any ways to customize it let me know! 1 box of chopped Spinach (thawed) 1 box of low fat/sodium Stovetop Chicken Stuffing 1 cup of low fat or fresh grated Parmesan cheese Garlic -to taste (fresh or powder) thaw the spinach fully but keep the Water to soften the stuffing, add everything to a medium bowl and mix well best with your hands lol. form into small balls (about meatball size) and bake for about 20 minutes!! Seriously yummy!

Oranges
I am not a big fan of oranges but, I have noticed that plums tend to cause me discomfort no matter how much I chew it. Sad because I love a nice plum ohh well!

2nd fill ~ Too Tight ~ Less than 24 hours.
WOW guys I am really nervous now I am almost 6 months out and I am going for my second fill on 02/21. Does this mean I will have to have that pain again when I eat? I have no idea what the measurements are on my band, I feel really silly guess a good talk with the doc is in order!:confused2:

Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
Hi Monica, I actually ordered the "HIP HOP ABS" series to give me some variety in my home work out regimen (price for being up at 2am channel surfing lol), its pretty cool w/ dance moves & music and it helps me because of a bad back being on the floor or certain machines in the gym are a bit much and I saved a ton on down payments/monthly payments for the gym. The series actually came with a membership to "Million Dollar Body" support much like here but works for me- Maybe down the line sure but hey I'm in Brooklyn NY where nothing is cheap!
