The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......
LOL! I know going meatless is not for everyone. I could honestly go without the meat because I've never been a big meat eater anyway. Congratulations, you made it to Onederland!! That is soooo great. I am sooo proud of you!! I had a yogurt this morning. I know that's not in the diet but I tried eating an apple and I was just too tight this morning. A lot tighter than I have been. It was the only thing I had in the house that would go down easy. My main goal is to eat more "live" foods, making sure I am eating fresh veggies and fruit. I made an appointment for a fill on Thursday. For the past few weeks, I haven't had much restriction at all, even in the mornings. Now I don't know if I should get one. I've been stuck on this plateau for a while now and I am so ready to get past it. Maybe I should just get a really small fill and see what happens, like .25cc or something. My last fill was only .5cc and it did really good for a while. I have a total of 6.5cc right now. What do you think?

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
Hey Leslie, I know you are getting excited! I'll try to answer your questions the best I can. 1. I believe the exercise rule was 6 weeks. I was cleared to do some light walking after 2 weeks, but no major exercise for 6 weeks, I think. 2. I didn't have a lot of gas pain immediately after surgery. I used the chewable Gas-X when needed. I've heard that walking around helps more than anything. 3. I've read that a heating pad works pretty good. Some people get gas trapped in the shoulder (which sounds strange to me) but several people on this board have had that happen. Most said the heating pad worked well. 4. I didn't try ice chips, I just sipped on Water and gatorade. Gatorade works wonders, especially if you are getting dehydrated. I suggest getting some. sugar-free popsicles are another good thing.

I have the Flintstone's chewable vitamins with iron. They don't taste bad to me but the gummy ones are better. I don't know if the gummies come with iron though.

April Exercise Challenge
Went to the gym today and I did: 45 minutes strength training (arms, abs, legs) 30 minutes fast walk on treadmill Wow, I really need to step it up! You all are doing so well. Ceradad, 2 hrs. 15 min on the elliptical? Whew, I'm sweating just thinking about that!

The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......
I understand that eating organic may not be embraced by all dietitians, but ultimately it's a personal decision. I do think that eating whole organic foods is better, but I know that everyone doesn't think the same as I. I have enjoyed reading this book and I feel that the authors are very educated and knowledgeable. I feel like I am making a good decision for me and that's all that counts. Not all professional dietitians are always going to agree on everything anyway, so I always read up on anything new and make my own decisions when it comes to my health. I've left out an entire food group before on certain diets (bread, meat) so that doesn't bother me at all. I've even thought about becoming a lacto-ovo vegetarian and that would be leaving out an entire food group also. I am not endorsing this book by any means, it's just something I want to try for myself............if it works for me, that's great, if it doesn't, so be it, I'll try something else. If I do not see results from this, I will probably become a lacto-ovo vegetarian and still try to eat whole organic foods when possible. I am still trying to find my way with my band and with PCOS, trying to figure out what works best for me. That being said, thanks for your concern and good luck to you.

I take kids Flintstone vitamins. Sometimes I get the chewable and sometimes I get the gummy ones. I haven't paid much attention to the sugar but I like the way the gummy ones taste. I think Flintstone's is what Dr. B's office recommended to me. We really do need to meet. It seems like something always gets in the way. I'm ready when you guys are!

I've often wondered about the Friday's too! Now that I've said there is never anyone in there when I'm there, I bet when I go Thursday it will be packed, lol. I've seriously only seen 1 other person there at the most when I've been, and not even 1 other person a few times. Hopefully, if it continues to grow, they will realise they have to do something about it!

All you people do is complain...
I hate laundry too! That's what I was doing before I decided to break for a few minutes. Folding is the worst part, Blah! We were on vacation a couple of weeks ago and I can't seem to get caught up on all the laundry. Who knew 2 adults and 1 little child could have soooo much dirty laundry.......it's ridiculous!

I don't understand why they are so backed up. Every time I have gone for a fill, I've been the only one there. On a couple of occasions, one person has signed in while I was there. I don't see why it should take a month and a half to get an appointment. Maybe you all have had a different experience, but it has never been busy when I was there. I do agree that they need to do something about this, whether it be having an additional person there that can do fills, or working more hours. Sometimes it's really hard to stay focused when you have lost your restriction and have to wait over a month to see them again. I mean, I was really desperate to get in and I was having to basically stalk people to get a cancelled appointment (sorry Jonathan - poor guy got soooo many PM's from me regarding his cancelled appt)! Mia, I agree with your last statement fully.

Posting Problems
Bredstillen - so glad you could admit you have a problem...........now take your own advice and get the stupid viagra!! Back to topic- Earlier today the site was pretty slow on my computer and it wouldn't let me reply at all. When I would click reply, it would go to the screen but the reply box was missing. Not sure what was going on but my problem didn't last long and it's working fine now.

The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......
Sorry your kiddo is sick. I hope he feels better soon. Sounds like you will have your hands full. So far today, things are going well. I went to the gym and did 45 minutes of strength training then 30 minutes on the treadmill. I am soooo glad I am starting to get some energy back. I think I have finally lost enough weight that I can actually start being active again. It's great!! Here's what I've eaten so far and my plan for the rest of the day: B'fast- 12 fresh blueberries, 6 whole natural almonds Lunch- 1 cup fresh vegetable stir-fry (onions, red peppers, mushrooms, celery, and diced roma tomatoes sauteed with EVOO and Mrs. Dash seasoning) Snack- 1 medium apple, handful of cashews Dinner- 1 baked tilapia fillet, 1/2 c. leftover vegetable stir- fry

Spring Into Action Weight Loss Challenge
You're not alone. I weighed this morning and I am 1 pound up from my ticker weight. TOM visited over the weekend (and still is darn it!!!) so I'm hoping it has to do with that. I just started working out again last week so hopefully all this exercise I am doing will help me. Hopefully I will have some good reports soon, I feel like such a downer lately.

The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......
Hey bookaddict! Just losing weight has really played a big part in regulating my cycle. I am really hoping that this will help with the facial hair. I have been off my Actos Metformin for a couple of weeks and I can really tell a difference. I'm not even sure if Actos Metformin is supposed to help with facial hair, but I can tell it's been worse the past week or so and I wonder if it has to do with me not taking my medicine. I am going to start back taking it tonight and see if it gets any better. Good luck with the rest of your pre-op diet. When is your surgery date?

Bamboobabe I called today and was able to get Jonathan's appointment for a fill. Malik said she wanted me to also keep the other appt (on the 24th) just in case I needed it (in case I have too much fill or a problem). Sorry, I planned on giving it up but I see her point because it is sooooo hard to get in earlier than scheduled. I would suggest calling Malik daily to see if anyone has cancelled. That's what she told me to do last week but I was never able to catch one, it's all about timing I guess. Hope you get in and I'm sorry.

The Natural Diet Solution For PCOS.......
Well, today is the day! I'm sooo excited to get started. I'm having a little bit of a hard time knowing what I'm going to eat for breakfast. I'm soooo used to my low carb slim fast every morning. This morning I ate 12 fresh blueberries and 6 whole, natural almonds. This is actually the first time I have eaten solid food for breakfast since being banded, I think. I guess it's good my band has relaxed some, lol. I'm not sure what I'll have the rest of the day but I will post it when I do. Okay, I've got a few more things to do around the house, then I'm off to the gym.

Taken off metformin/weight gain.......
Banded08 My Endo put me on Actos Metformin (both medicines in one pill) and it is not time released. I chop mine up in about 3 pieces and I don't have trouble taking it. Maybe you could ask to get for the ones that are not time released. The Actos Metformin doesn't upset my stomach either like Metformin does for many. I'm not sure if I'm just super lucky or if there is a difference in the two. Good luck!

Question about solid food
Yay! I know you are excited about moving to solids. I don't see any reason why you can't have oatmeal for breakfast. I do a shake most of the time because I am usually tighter in the mornings. If you are able to eat solids in the morning, that's great. They will keep you fuller longer. Although protein is very important, I don't see a problem with having the oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal generally stays with me for a good while. There are sooo many different opinions from doctors. My doc suggests 3 meals a day, no snacks. He also suggest having protein first, then a veggie, then a piece of fruit and then bread if there's room. I don't always go strictly by that plan. Some days I have 4-5 very small meals. It's important for you to find out what works best for you. I've definitely listened to my doctors suggestions but I don't always follow their rules to a T. The band has a mind of it's own sometimes, so I never know from day to day what to expect. Some days I'm fine going without a snack, other days I need one. Some days I can eat beef roast, other days I have a hard time. Some days you may find it hard to eat solid protein, especially after you get some restriction. Just make sure you chew really good and take it slow. Good luck to you!
