Mac....sorry about your nike+ receiver. Congrats on signing up for the 5K. Kathy....one 5k per month?? That's AWESOME!!!! I've been looking for another 5K to enter, but there's not very many around here. The only one I could find for this month is tomorrow and DH couldn't get off. I was hoping to do one in Albany next month, but when I looked it up online....it's a marathon, half marathon, and a one mile fun run. I think I'm finally feeling like myself again. I did 5 miles on the treadmill today. I walked quite a bit of it. I've been working on my speed, so about half way through I did high speed intervals (5.5 mph, which is super speed for me, lol). This speed thing is waayyy harder than I thought it would be. My goal is to be able to run a 5k straight at 5.0 mph. Hopefully I'll get there one day, lol.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Suzanne, my energy has been awful lately. With the virus this week, it's even worse. The other day, I bought a liquid B complex supplement with B12. I've only been using it a couple of days, so I can't really say yet if it's working but I'll let you know. I can do well on a low carb diet IF I'm not doing much exercise. I had stop doing low carb when I bumped up the running because I was getting soooo drained. I try to stick to whole grain carbs too for the most part. Well, we have had a really rough week. I thought I was over my virus Monday, but I guess it wasn't done with me. Today is the first day I have felt half way decent. Poor DH was much sicker than me though...from Monday till today. I think we had the longest virus in history, lol. Still don't have much energy but I managed to make it to the gym tonight. I did 4 miles on the treadmill. I walked a good bit of it but it felt good to get back at it. Everyone is doing sooooo well. Keep it up!!

Well, I did go to the gym tonight but I wasn't able to do much. My energy is still not there. I only did 2.2 miles and only ran about half of it. Hopefully I'll have more energy tomorrow.

WOW...I had A LOT of posts to catch up on, lol. I had a crazy weekend. DH was off Thur, Fri, and Sat. My son's birthday was yesterday, so we made it a weekend event. Friday, we took him to the zoo and we had a blast! There was hardly anyone else there. I WISH I had brought my ipod because I we did A LOT of walking and I did little jogging too. It was really fun! Then we went shopping for the rest of the day and didn't get home until really late. Saturday was my sons birthday party. We had it at a park in a nearby town. Very nice playground and picnic area. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Sunday I felt terrible! Had a stomach virus...YUCK! Still feel a little puny today, but I'm hoping I feel better by tonight so I can run. DH is home sick with it today. EVERYONE is doing so well! I'm so proud of all of you! Lyn...congrats on the job!! Oh, and we bought guitar hero Friday and we played it all day Saturday...except when we were at the party, lol.

Suzanne...it is soooo much easier when your spouse in on board! Althought my hubby doesn't run, he is FINALLY on board with me about food and losing weight. He's lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks and has been going to the gym with me. I'm sooo proud of him. Not to mention it makes it a lot easier for me to stick to my diet when we are doing it together. Good luck! Renewed...how are you feeling today? Kathy..Hope you are having a great time! I miss your posts...

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Okay....I gave in and weighed today. I was doing sooooo good only weighing on Mondays...but I couldn't help myself. I lost 3 lbs since Monday. I guess my body is repaying me for last weeks one little pound loss, lol. I'm sooooo glad I am losing again!!!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Welcome Suzanne! It's good that you have buddies that are doing it with you. My only advice to you is to start SLOW. Don't worry about speed right now...just focus on getting through the runs and building up your endurance. Good luck on first run tonight! Let us know how it goes.

Actually, I didn't like Joelle or Carla. I will agree that Carla worked her butt off this week and Joelle didn't, but they both get on my last nerve. Like Manatee, I have to wonder if they were even friends to begin with.

Well, my fill nurse said she was going to call the surgeon and see what needs to be done. I think we will eventually end up having to do x-rays to check for a leak. Seems like no one else loses fluid because of workouts....
-
Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Okay....I went to the doctor today for a fill and I'm a little concerned. Each time I go, I lose fluid. Today, she measured and I lost 1.5cc since Thanksgiving!! We are not sure if there is a slow leak or what's going on. She said the fluid could be evaporating because of my workouts. She said the more your body heats up, the more likely some fluid can evaporate. Sooo....Whosya, Renewed and all you others who do excessive workouts.....have you had this problem? Do you lose fluid due to working out? I've never gotten to my "sweet spot" and I've been banded for almost 1.5 years. It's soooo frustrating! She did put some more fluid in and right now I feel some restriction, but who knows if I'll have it in a week or two....

I learned the hard way, yesterday, to GRADUALLY increase in speed, lol. I thought I was going to die, lol. Today I bumped my long run (2.6 miles) up only one notch, to 4.5. Then did intervals at 4.7/3.7. I managed much better tonight. Renewed....I hope you are doing okay!!!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Well, I went to the gym tonight and ran. I only did 3.1 miles but I decided to do things a little different to try to improve my speed. I ran the first mile at 4.7 (I usually run at 4.4). Then I did high speed intervals (high speed for me anyway, lol) for the rest of the time, walking at 3.6 and running at 5.5 (walk 0.3 miles and ran 0.2 miles in intervals). I was surprised at how much increasing the speed effected me. It was A LOT harder!

Hey everyone! Renewed wanted me to let ya'll know that she is home and the procedure went well. They decided to do it at the hospital and it was a little more involved than they thought it would be. They did some revision on both sides in the front. She was starting to hurt so she is resting now. Hope you heal soon Renewed!!

I understand how hard it is to stick with the lifestyle change and how easy it is to fall off the bandwagon. We all do. I sympathize with anyone trying to make a change that big. However, he came on the show with his friend (as a team). IMO, he was being selfish. If it were me, I wouldn't have said anything and I would have stuck it out FOR MY FRIEND, even if I didn't want to be there. They made a commitment to each other and IMO, he didn't do his part. Having said that, I really do hope they both succeed. I'm looking forward to seeing them both in the finale.
