blondiebabs got a reaction from joatsaint in What do you consider an NSAID?
NSAIDs are anti inflammatory drugs, asprin, aleve, and a whole slew of others are on the list. It was one of my biggest worries about surgery was not being able to take them. All sinus medications are not NSAIDs, I take sinus and allergy meds daily but I do not get the kind that are mixed with any kind of pain reliever or other cold remedy meds, for example Aleve Sinus. I just get the straight generic phenylephrine hci 10 mg for my sinuses, it does relieve swelling in the sinuses but not anywhere else in your body so it wouldn't be considered a NSAID.

What strange and super unhealthy concoction did you eat before weight loss?

Totally shocked and thrilled. I ordered a pair of size 12 jeans and they arrived this afternoon.

I was wearing 14's that I got just a few weeks ago. Figured picking up the next size down (same brand) would be a motivator.

I tried them on and they fit!!

Guess I'll need to get a 10 to hang on the back of the door, heh.

Not dropping a lot of pounds, but my size is shrinking :-)
To think I was a size 20 when I started this journey the end of April. THANK YOU MS. SLEEVE!!

One of my friends had her first baby at 40 and her second at 42, (as long as you can get pregnant) I think it is never too late, a lot of people were really opinionated about her having them at her age. You run a higher risk of complications, however my friend had 2 perfectly healthy babies and normal pregnancies and deliveries, so I wouldn't let anyone's opinions about having a baby "later in life" deter you. I'm almost 36 and still not had any myself.

blondiebabs got a reaction from 4me4them in When to take vitamins?
I haven't had the surgery yet but I take a Multivitamin and several other supplements and I find them most beneficial in the morning or around lunch because they tend to give me a boost. Take them with a meal because some will make your stomach hurt if its empty.

You can respectfully ask them to not use your pictures. My office has a horrible habit of taking pictures of people randomly, especially during potlucks and more times than not there will end up being a picture of me shoving food into my mouth and I hate it. I always delete the pictures of me off of the shared drive, however they do still exist. Our PR person started using our random photos for various things such as slide shows she was showing people to advertise what we do, and then wanted to create a collage of photos to put in our reception area and I finally told her that I would appreciate if it was possible for my pictures not to be used and that I knew others felt that way as well. She hadn't even thought about it and emailed everyone and asked them to let her know if she had their permission to use their photos for advertising, etc and several people said they would prefer she didn't. She didn't even realize how insensitive it was to just use our pictures, especially some really bad ones without even asking us.
But yeah, I HATE candid photos of me. I don't spend much time in the mirror except to get ready for work in the morning.

I received the same kind of kick-back from one of the friends that I told, basically my opinion about it is its not their life so we shouldn't let their fears hold us back. Plus people who do not know the struggle really do not understand. This website and the people here who bravely post their stories have really helped me with a lot of my fears and anxieties about the process.

blondiebabs reacted to LoveAfterWLS in New Dating Site for Bariatric Patients!
Hi All! Alex has graciously allowed me to post once about my dating site for weight loss surgery patients. I designed this site after input from several friends who have had weight loss surgery, myself included. Many of us are new to dating and just discovering ourselves and dating in general is hard enough, let alone after weight loss surgery. I thought it would be a great idea to bring men and women together who have both had some type of weight loss surgery. We all want to stay on track and we all fear regaining the weight we've worked so hard to lose. Finding someone with similar goals and interests would be great for long term success. www.loveafterwls.com was born!
loveafterwls.com is NOW totally FREE! If you were a previous paying member, please unsubscribe and rejoin as a FREE member.
Our site offers personal profiles with up to ten pictures, blogging, instant messaging, forums and more. Like all new dating sites, it will take awhile to grow our membership but come on in, fill out your profile, start a blog if you wish and help build this dating site into something great!
Please tell your friends, especially men. We currently have a lot more women on the site than men.
    Visit www.loveafterwls.com for more information!
    Thanks

The kind of acceptance I would like to see is people stopping caring whether or not people are fat, thin, or what, whether they want to change their body or not and just treating each other like humans. The fat acceptance movement like that girl posted about is super extreme, it is just as bad as skinny people being so mean to fat people.

blondiebabs got a reaction from AudraN in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
I could fill a silo with all the straws:
    *Constant back pain from scoliosis
*Constant unsolicited weight loss advice from strangers
*Knees and ankles twisting and spraining easily
*Living in a major university town with lots of young fit people making rude remarks about my weight like I do not have feelings
    *Too many prescriptions
*Feeling like the bones in my feet are going to break when I first step on them in the morning
*My car door squeezing me in my seat snuggly when I close it
    *Heart issues
*Asthma meds having to be increased
*People staring at me when I try to squeeze around something
*Trying to squeeze past people and either my belly or butt invading their space
*Getting paint all over my toes when I try to just pain the nails
*Having to push the table towards my friends when they insist upon sitting in a booth
*My x's daughter seeing my hips/butt hanging over the edges of a chair and saying "daaang I thought these chairs were big enough to fit everybody"
*Work ordering me a special chair for plus sized people because it was "more durable", I did not break the first one, I asked for a chair with better back support and they ordered me a chair with a seat twice as wide as the normal chairs instead. Granted it is more comfortable, but it was a bit humiliating when one of my coworkers saw it and said "whoa wide load!"
*Coworker asking me if I was dating anyone and I said no and she responded "you will find a man when you get healthy"
I could write a list forever, but it comes down to my health, I am worried about my future health if I do not get help. Obesity runs in my family, they all fight it, I have fought it for years and as hard as I fight it it seems to fight back 10x harder. Looking forward to a happier and healthier life!

Thanks for all of your comments ladies I hate knowing its out there but I am just not going to think about it lol My boss is my niece and she is just starting her business so I hate to ask her not to do something just because I feel uncomfortable. When I lose enough weight I will just ask her to change the pic
I can't wait until I finish my medically supervised weight loss program at the end of October and really get this journey started.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July! Have a great weekend and thanks again for taking time to post on here. I am glad I am not alone in my feelings about the camera and/or mirror

On another note but still regarding pics (MistyAnnMoon829's comment above made me think of this) I got up yesterday morning and my 53-year-old husband was sitting on the patio drinking his coffee and taking selfies to post on FB. He is just too cute! He was so embarassed when I came up behind him and asked him what he was doing lol.

    Hello there, my fellow PCOS'r!
I'm almost 8 months post op...I'm much older than you (44 years old). I commend you for starting your journey now and not losing many years like I did. I went into this hoping my only regret is that I didn't go thru the surgery sooner and that is my only regret.
I was diagnosed with PCOS and metabolic syndrome a few years ago - I finally found a doctor that would listen to me and she wanted me to get better. I would only have a few periods a year - some say I was lucky, but OMG, they were bad and I would lose days to feeling bad. I, too, looked forward to a life of gaining more and more weight and feeling increasingly bad physically, not to mention the mental/emotional struggles that came along with that.
Since surgery, WOW, what a difference. Almost immediately I started feeling better. I chucked the Metformin about 2 weeks before surgery (with my doc's approval). My periods are now like clockwork and not bad or painful any more. My acne which I've had since about 13 years old is gone - my skin is clear. I feel strong and have more energy than I have had in my adult life.
As for carb cravings - I was a carboholic pre-surgery. Now, they aren't important to me. I used to love bread - good crusty artisan bread. Now, I really don't care if I have it or not. Bread actually makes my stomach feel bad. I went to Olive Garden the other night and had 1/2 a breadstick - I didn't enjoy it. I would have never thought that a year ago. Pasta no longer has it's clutches in me - I can eat a couple of bites of it, but prefer chicken, it just feels better on my stomach. I don't care if I have another potato, but I still enjoy a french fry or tater tot every once in a while. Tortilla chips are a slider for me - I can eat a lot of those, so I just keep them out of the house.
hair growth has slowed down a bit, but it's still there and I still have to tweeze. It's OK though - I'll take the good with the bad.
Best of luck to you. Again, I admire the fact you're doing this while you're young. You're going to do great!

It kind of sounds like the one who you did trust to tell told the others. I wouldn't talk to any of them about it anymore and let them be bitter and jealous. People will always try to bring you down, don't even feed their fire by telling them and talking to them about it. That is possibly part of why they are acting like this if they do know you told the one person and not them, possibly a bit put out you didn't trust them too... but it is obvious you were right not to!
