A repost and my apologies if it's too descriptive:
So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach just below the lower esophogeal sphincter, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage.
Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?

Go back for another fill and let your medical team work for you. Being in the green zone is worth it. You have gained back weight but not all of it yet. Don't get discouraged. We all have to go back and get adjusted. I just spent 3 days spitting up liquids and went without food. I was so weak, miserable and sick. I called in and went in over the weekend. They took out .5cc's and now I am drinking and it feels so good to have liquids go down. I had some chicken noodle Soup last night that stayed down and tasted so good. I am thinking this may be the green zone even though I am not on solid foods yet. I won't stop the readjusting until I get into the green zone. The surgery was tough for me. It hurt and took days to recover. This last overfill had me miserable but I won't stop until my weight is off. You deserve the same.

...don't come down on folks when they offer it.
Especially if you are new to the WLS experience and the vets respond to you. We see the same questions over and over and over again and we still take the time to answer you because we know that for you, it's the first time you are going through this.
It would be so easy for us vets to leave the forum and live our lives successfully but we stay here because we remember how it was at the beginning or if we see that you are struggling during the WLS journey....so we stay here and try to help. Please think about that if you don't like how we've responded. It's not because we know better....it's because we simply know more than you do right now. Respect that please.
We try so hard to be sympathetic when you screw up or ask questions that you already know the answers to...like I didn't lose 5 lbs. in one week, is this a stall? Or, I ate a bag of chips...did I do bad?
I've been on this forum for a year and a half and in that time, I've seen too many vets take a hike and it's often because they are rebuffed when they offer insights or even just their own personal experiences. If you want this forum to succeed, and if you personally want to succeed...be aware of what you say either on the forum or when you PM. Especially when you PM.
And one more thing. I didn't post this on Rants and Raves because it's not a rant. It's a request.

I feel the same as u except difficulty swallowing. I would call ur surgeon n see if maybe they would recommend any IV fluids (mine did). I feel very weak and thirsty 24/7... And my gas pains sure ain't helping either. I feel miserable at times as well. I can only drink small amounts of fluids. I'm only drinking Water and Gatorade now cuz everything else makes me sick. I always feel super full and bloated from drinking too much fluids. This started after surgery n I started to feel better but 2 days ago all shit hit the fan n I woke up like I was hit by a bus. My dr says its cuz I'm dehydrated. Haven't gone for IV fluids yet but if I'm not better by tomorrow then I'm def calling my dr back. I urge u to call ur dr cuz the last thng u need is severe dehydration. Good luck to you and hope u feel better. Keep us all updated.

I was just going to post somthng similar. I feel so thirsty/dehydrated these past 2 days. All I want to do is drink ice cold water and i have no appetite for anything. Only problem is tht I can't get enough of it because of the band. The more I drink the more nauseated and bloated I get. I def crave water, just sucks I'm so restricted n can't drink much of it. Keep drinking...the last thng u need is to be feeling miserable from dehydration.

With all due respect, unless you are the OPs physician, you should never recommend a particular WLS based on such a blanket statement. There is nothing wrong with providing your personal experience, but this type of comment provides no value. There are several bandsters on this forum who have and had 100+ pounds to lose and many, including myself have done just that.
There is nothing wrong with suggesting the OP talk to his/her professionals and due due diligence in terms of investigating all options but it is not appropriate to influence this type of decision.

TimeforTanya reacted to B-52 in Possible to get stuck on liquids?
Not exactly "Stuck" with liquids.....but can feel like it at times....
Imagine a funnel....you can pour liquids into it, and as long as you don't pour too much to fast, it will pass through the narrow opening without any trouble.....
Now pour a large amount into the funnel...what happens? It sits there for it to pass and eventually go down...OR...it can overflow over the top onto the floor.....
Also the consistency of the liquid matters also...water to a milkshake....
Everyone's opening is different size...some smaller, some larger....the band is adjustable.....so the experience will vary from individual to individual....
If you are recently banded, then it is probably still swelling that is making you tight....either way you need to slow your drinking down....
I have no problems or complaints with my band, but when drinking Water I have learned not to gulp....and I still forget at times, especially at the gym or doing yard work in the sun....

You can always take home the leftovers and split them up into a few meals. I'm a sucker for stir fry lobster and if I ever get brave enough to eat out I will be taking the rest of it home to last me a week. Lol.

You assumed the band would do all the work and keep you from eating too much. That's not how it works. The band helps us to feel satisfied with less food if it's adjusted properly. But it requires a lot of self awareness to work it's magic. That means you have to look for the soft stop signals and obey them. Most all of us can eat plates of food. The lower stomach is still there and if we ignore the satiety signals, we can continue to eat.
This will require much more discipline and attention on your behalf if you want your WLS to work? Soft stop or satiety signals are:
    Runny nose
    burping
    hiccups
    sighs
And of course the biggy, you're just not interested in the food your eating!
Rationalizing you can work off huge meals isn't going to work with the band. Once your band is filled properly you can cause pouch or esophageal dilation and band slippage. Hope this helps?

TimeforTanya got a reaction from Bandista in Food prep? Food scale?
I'm still only three days post op but I'm thinking ahead for future food prep. For those of u tht weigh ur food do u recommend a certain scale and when weighing Protein do u weigh before or after it's cooked?
I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about food prep, but the whole reason I got the band is cause I never knew when to stop eating n always ate too much in one sitting. Is the food scale the right way to go? I've already started measuring my liquids and it's showing me tht I'm lacking a lot n need to increase my intake. But the measurement helps with the liquid so weighing my foods shouldn't be too rough right?
I really would appreciate some tips from food scale users and non scale users.

@@monkeysnana Hi Wendy, I just want to offer you my support, understanding and best wishes for you and your family.
You are going through so much and it really is never easy. Taking care of your health and being well while it won't cure your husband, I'm sure he will feel better knowing that you are taking care of yourself to be well. I know it seems selfish when someone we love is suffering to think of ourselves but I want to tell you that it is not a selfish thing you do in taking care of yourself. It is selfless, focus on doing it for him and your family to be strong and healthy and be there to help him and care for him both emotionally and physically.
It is so easy for us to get all tied up in what our loved ones are going through and we ache so badly for them, we want to suffer for them and take away their pain. Yet we do not have the ability to do that, and that can make you feel so much worse. We can get into comparing how we are feeling emotionally to what they are experiencing physically, and we put ourselves through the wringer out of empathy for them.
I have found going through similar circumstances with my loved ones, that shifting my focus to making sure that I was well enough and fit enough to physically and emotionally do all that I could to make them comfortable and happy was the very best that I could do.
When I spent my days wrung out and stressed out and upset it didn't serve my loved ones much and I wasn't much good to them. Once I was able to make a full circle and refocus my efforts they were happier and I was able to do everything in my power to make sure that they stayed that way for as long as I could give them that.
Don't get me wrong, there are moments and you will have them, more then you want to. Come here anytime day or night for support if you need it, or just need to vent or what ever that's what we are here for.
All my best to you! You are one strong lady, I have no doubts about that.

Thanks everyone for commenting. It's currently 4am and I've gotten up every hour to 45min to pee. Very annoying lol. I've done my fair share of walking but still having very painful shoulder gas. It's probably been the worst so far with any other surgery pains today. After my swallowing study today I can go home.
