  1. Happy 51st Birthday miss meliss!

  2. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary miss meliss!

  3. And to answer your other question, my surgeon was Sina Matin and I had surgery at Baylor Grapevine. It's a great program.

  4. Hi there! I have not signed into LapBand Talk in months, so I just got your message. Turns out I got approved with no problem too and had surgery on 9-28-09. Doing great, slow weight loss, just now beginning to get some restriction. I don't do lapbandtalk much anymore, enjoying blogging and other band bloggers instead. You have had great success and are an inspiration!

  5. Love my Band! I am actually 8lbs below my orginal goal! John 114 Donny 117 Danielle 80 Rebecca 45 Gaye 42 Ann 91 Tammy 52 Carrie 80 sapphire12305 78 Rose 59 :cursing: Denverlee 76 Minxz 48 Melissa 119 total = 1061
  6. Hi. No, not banded until possibly mid-March. My last consultation is on January 21st. Trying to work on portion control now so it's not a shock to my body. LOL! I'm also trying to wrap my head around the pre-op and post-op liquid phases...whoah! All in all, I'm excited and inching toward getting ready for this change. I'm ready to use this tool to help get my health back in order.

Off to make my protein shake now. I try to have one of those a couple of mornings a week to get me going! Blessings to your day and thanks for being an inspiration on this journey!

  7. Have you been banded yet? I love my band, it works!

  8. Who's your Doctor?

  9. Hi Kenzie! I did Lockheed insurance and it was Aetna. I had no problem getting approved. I did call the insurance daily once my Dr. submitted my forms. Sometimes "Nicely" nagging helps! I found that my information was sent to the wrong department and Aetna was very nice correcting it immedately. It could have taken weeks for them to realize it on thier own! As much as I hated waiting the 3-4 months.... I was better educated and have had much better success than my friend who self paid. I can't tell you how much I hated waiting... but I am glad I did. Christmas update! I ate a little of everything i love and I have not gained a pound!!! Ususally I am up 15 pounds since Thanksgiving. The band Works!! I love it!! I was wearing 22/24 jeans and I got a pair of Levi 8's for Christmas... that is ridiculous!

Goal!! The band works for those who have tried everything and always failed!! 111.5 pound gone!! Can not put into words how happy I am, however, it also feels unreal! Will have to get use to not having over whelming diet goals. I have never had that in my adult life. woohoo! :w00t:

    Major NSV!

Yesterday, I went to my yearly Diabetes check-up. I also needed to check my blood pressure because I had stopped taking my blood pressure medicine a month ago. My Blood pressure was (with no medication) 102/75!! And the doctor had to change my status to "NON-DIABETIC"! She said it is a rare treat to change a patient's status for the postive. My diabetes was the main reason I got the band. What a great day!

    Fast Approaching 1 Year Bandiversary!

Carrie_C, I try to never eat sweets, unless, it is a holiday or a special occasion. I keep track on my calories and protein using "livestrong.com", "My Plate". I try not to eat more than 1400 calories a day and have at least 70g of protein. The protein helps keep your metobolism working well. And I watch my carbs. I do eat some carbs but I do avoid Mashed potatoes, rice, pasta and sweets. I have noticed eating too little (under 1000 calories) for an extend time will really slow my weight loss. I do not regularly exercise. When school is out I will start walking and get on a schedule with my eliptical. I hope this helps! And 50 + pounds lost is nothing to be sad about!!!!
  14. Hi there. I am beginning to realize that this 3 months is really a blessing. I think by the time surgery rolls around I will be mentally and physically ready. Did I read that you have insurance through Lockheed Martin? Mine is through there (Aetna). Did you have any problems with approval? My documented BMI is 43 and I have been just over 40 for the past 2 years so I am hoping there will not be any issues with approval. I went to my first support meeting at Baylor and it was good (I am beginning to realize that the Baylor program is great). Do you know if there are any groups that are just for band patients? Thanks for sharing. I know have others experience will really come in handy!
