  3. Who's your Doctor?

  4. Hi Kenzie! I did Lockheed insurance and it was Aetna. I had no problem getting approved. I did call the insurance daily once my Dr. submitted my forms. Sometimes "Nicely" nagging helps! I found that my information was sent to the wrong department and Aetna was very nice correcting it immedately. It could have taken weeks for them to realize it on thier own! As much as I hated waiting the 3-4 months.... I was better educated and have had much better success than my friend who self paid. I can't tell you how much I hated waiting... but I am glad I did. Christmas update! I ate a little of everything i love and I have not gained a pound!!! Ususally I am up 15 pounds since Thanksgiving. The band Works!! I love it!! I was wearing 22/24 jeans and I got a pair of Levi 8's for Christmas... that is ridiculous!

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Goal!! The band works for those who have tried everything and always failed!! 111.5 pound gone!! Can not put into words how happy I am, however, it also feels unreal! Will have to get use to not having over whelming diet goals. I have never had that in my adult life. woohoo! :w00t:

    Major NSV!

Yesterday, I went to my yearly Diabetes check-up. I also needed to check my blood pressure because I had stopped taking my blood pressure medicine a month ago. My Blood pressure was (with no medication) 102/75!! And the doctor had to change my status to "NON-DIABETIC"! She said it is a rare treat to change a patient's status for the postive. My diabetes was the main reason I got the band. What a great day!

    Fast Approaching 1 Year Bandiversary!

Carrie_C, I try to never eat sweets, unless, it is a holiday or a special occasion. I keep track on my calories and protein using "livestrong.com", "My Plate". I try not to eat more than 1400 calories a day and have at least 70g of protein. The protein helps keep your metobolism working well. And I watch my carbs. I do eat some carbs but I do avoid Mashed potatoes, rice, pasta and sweets. I have noticed eating too little (under 1000 calories) for an extend time will really slow my weight loss. I do not regularly exercise. When school is out I will start walking and get on a schedule with my eliptical. I hope this helps! And 50 + pounds lost is nothing to be sad about!!!!

    Fast Approaching 1 Year Bandiversary!

I had my bandiversay this week, May 12th! I am so happy I decided to get the band. The results have been better than I dreamed. I have lost 100 pounds!
  10. For the last year this is where I went (and the "who has lost 100 pounds" site) when I became over whelmed by my age and the amount of weight I needed to lose. Now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (and my feet)!! As of today I have lost 100lbs!

What do you reward yourself with?

I have bought a 6ctw. green amethyst ring ... that is gorgeous. I have had "100lbs!" engraved inside the band. I have not worn it yet and I asked my husband to hide it until I come out of the bathroom one morning doing the 100 dance. I am getting close to wearing that ring. As of this morning I am down 99lbs! It is funny. I use to go out to eat as an award... that doesn't work any more. So buying a new size now and then if really fun!
  14. Have you gotten a date yet? Don't hesisate to call and nag your insurance!! I did and I got a date in less than a week. As of today I have lost 99lbs... I am soooo close to 100!

  15. Hey Kenzie!

Nice to meet you and I am glad to help! I know when I was at your stage I wanted to find women my age to see if it really was working... and it does. I've been over wieght my whole life and obese for the last 17 years. I had given up hope . As of today I have lost 99lbs!! The band is working better than I dreamed!! The 3 monthes will go by quickly. The things I learned during the 3 monthes have really helped me out. My friends who did self pay with no couseling have not had the success that I (and others with couseling) have seen. I assumed that insurance was stalling, however, I learned a lot during that time. Please let me know if you have any questions or just want to vent!!

  16. Hey C-Girl!

One can't have too many friends. Did you just get banded? How are you doing!

  17. I have the 10cc too. I beleive I am between 6-7cc's. On my 2nd fill I got an unfill (could not swallow my own spit!). Then in August I went in and had a 3rd fill and have not had one since. I knew I needed a fill when a small portion meal didn't keep me full more than 3 hrs. As I am now.. I can not over eat in volumn. I can still eat too much sweets but a small piece of chicken and 1/4 cup veg. will hold me for hours. Seems to me you are loosing good now. I would go ahead and reschedule your visit for a later date. That way if all of a sudden you are hungry a lot you will already have an appointment.

Cravings for Sweets - What do you do?

Found something great just today! Cocoa Almonds by Emerald. My sister found them at Sam's so I bet they are sold at Wal-mart as well. They taste really good, the cocoa does not add additional calories. It is a great source of protien and fiber. I also love the SF pudding. I really like to make parfeit with coolwhip but sometimes it is too fluffy and it won't go down well. Adkin bars are also a nice treat!

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Jadensmom... I am so sorry to hear about your year. Congratulation on 44lbs! That's great!! jkpenny.... I agree, the band has taken all the fun out of eating. However, I think I was having way too much fun eating. Congrats on your 53lbs!
  20. I love our doctor's office. I have several friends & family members who have the band and our doctors support team, after the band, is by far the best! Dr. Slicko looks somewhere between a mad scienctist and a male model and he is great with a needle. Good luck, and thanks for the kind words. The band is great, you'll be glad you did it!!

    Help........Cold Feet!!!

I have notice the gastric bypass people lose much faster (at first) and have a bigger problem with the skin issues. That being said.... I am much older than you, 47. I have lost 95 pounds in 11 months (unbelievable for me). My skin is looser, for now. I can make wrinkles where there never have been wrinkles before but I don't think it looks bad to other people. I feel so much better! I fit in regular movie seats and rollercoaster seats!! I am on no medication!!! And I look much better in clothes (which is 99.999% of the time). If I am a bit saggy here and there only me and my Dr. will know about it. They say to give yourself a year before you give up on your skin tightening up. You are probably just getting nervous and focusing on the wrong stuff. So the worse case senerio is... you lose a lot of weight and your skin sags just a bit at first and you feel great and your health dramtically improves!! It is still better place than where you are now! Good luck! I have not regretted a moment my choice to get the band. It really works! Check out the before and after photo thread now and then (it is on general labband thread). I think it is a great motivator! Most everyone on there looks great and one day you can post there too.
