  1. If people who are bipolar are ignored, they really can't continue to go on and on about something that is none of their business. Just don't discuss the issue and hopefully he will shut the f--- up! I totally disagree that this is the easy way out. I have been on a diet roller coaster for 15 years, and will power was gone until my band. People that haven't struggled like we have, don't have a clue. I say ignore his comments. Be ready for your new life.
  2. I totally disagree with today's style of girl clothes. My daughter is 14, and we didn't have to worry about it when she was younger. Now we are having the arguements and discussions on appropriate clothes. She started high school this year and the peer pressure to fit in is fierce. Luckily she started young, wearing decent clothing. My point is, don't give in when the girls start wanting to wear these styles. When they get older it won't be too hard to say no... Good Luck
  3. I take wellbutrin once a day. I stopped taking it for about a week,(pre and post op) and then realized it was soooo neccesary for my depression. I don't think my surgeon recommends it. My husband and kids do recommend it!! It is small and easy to swallow with no problem. Good Luck and God Bless
  4. I drink Atkins protein drinks, and Isopure with no carbs. Add one drink between meals, that will curb your hunger and increase your protein at the same time. I gained three pounds on week three also, I just was not getting enough protein. I know you hate to read this, but exercise is so important, even if it is walking around the block one time, or parking your car at the very last parking spot. Good luck and God Bless
  5. I say "duh" entirely too much. My kids hate it.... oh well, they will get over it...
  6. I had my first fill on 10/11 and feel some restriction. I would like more. What helps me with the cravings is soft fruit in light syrup and fat free cool whip. Also, drink more carb free protein. It really fills me up. Are you drinking water, water, water ? Good luck and hang in there.
  7. My bmi was not that high to begin with. So telling my friends was not a wise thing to do. Mainly because they would judge me (thinking I took the easy way out ) On the other hand, my mother, brother and sister all have a bmi of 43-45, with multiple comorbidities. I want them to live a long life, telling them about the band was neccesary(sp). Overall I probably will not tell very many people.
  8. Hi Holly, I had my band on 9/12/07 and can remember the feelings you are having right now. As an RN myself, we just know too much about what can happen in the OR. Just remember God gave us this surgery and the chance to make ourselves healthy. He will bring you through and your New life will begin. Don't worry so much. The comfort food cravings are all too familiar for me as well. Just remember it will be painful to eat those foods. I know this from my stupid experiences. Take care and God Bless. H/C/G 220/197/145
  9. I am also curious, what is OH? banded 9/12/07 H/C/G 220/197/145
  10. i have a 4cc band as well. the total amount of saline is 4cc. i went yesterday to get my first fill and my surgeon said the bigger you are, the bigger the band. he was going to inject 1cc and could not do it. why? i don't know. his pa is going to do it next week. kind of frustrating. just venting in tx. 220/197/135 highest/now/goal :^
  11. I know exactly what you are going through. I was banded on 9/12 and have "cheated" way more than you. I know we just have that desire to taste good food, and the liquid thing is not good food. You will be fine, just start over tomorrow and a lot of what we are doing, is mind over matter. Try to distract yourself with a hobby or go outside. Whatever it takes. Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself. 220/197/145 highest/now/goal Banded 9/12/07
  12. grrreat job!!! you look like you have been doing crunches also. you look fab. I can't wait to look half as good as you. :0
  13. I am an RN, work at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Tx. I have worked Oncology/Hematology for six years. banded 9/12/07 by Dr. Ralph Crum first fill 10/2/07 highest/current/goal 221/198/130
  14. My date was 9/12. Anyone else out there from Tx. ? I should be on the pureed diet, it just doesn't sound good. Any recipes or suggestions. I am down 18lbs. From 215 to 198 !! So excited !!:hungry:
  15. Hello there. I just had my band on Sept 12th. The main thing I remember was the " NAUSEA " , from the anesthesia. I was dry heaving and just hoping the band would not slip. Pain is definitely a part of my memory. Actually, I was sore up until two days ago. The doctor should give you pain meds (for home ) Also, the band is not filled when it is first put in. I get my 1st fill on the day of your surgery. LOL. Do not be tempted to cheat and eat solids , I was weak and cheated and it hurt like hell!! I guess that's it . Questions ?? e-mail me- selinarule@yahoo.com
