I haven't made it a secret that I had surgery cause I did and it's legal and I'm pretty open I guess. Today I was glad because a co- worker asked me all about the surgery, sees how I am doing - well and happy and wants to look into it for herself. Its nice to be able to inspire others. We have an opportunity to be sleeve ambassadors.

I think a bunch are on Facebook so don't post here also anymore. It's a lot to post everything twice. I still check this page daily as well as Facebook.

I see some what of a trend of dizzyness. This happened to me and I found it to be low blood sugar. This is why I eat 2 servings of fresh fruit everyday. Yes fruit has carbs but it also has lots of Fiber. This has helped me cure the low blood sugar issue. I still have been religious about no alcohol and bad carbs such as bread, Pasta and rice. I have also been dealing with gout which fruit such as cherries is recommended. If you start feeling dizzy or not well from low blood sugar a quick fix is some juice. This does not mean to start chugging juice but just a few onces will fix low blood sugar very quickly. Again, I now add fruit to my diet and have not had an issue with sugar levels.

Good morning everyone! I just got done weighing and I'm thrilled. My weight kept fluctuating on the scale up and down over a pound while I was standing on it like it was possessed. I finally realized my hair bun must be leaning on the wall or something, so I scooted it out from the wall a foot and not only did it stop the fluctuating nonsense it showed 3 pounds lighter!!! I stepped on it 3 more times to make sure. Lol

So I went in for my 6 month bloodwork yesterday....CBC, chem panel, lipids, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Iron, etc. I figured I wouldn't get results until next week, but I ran into my doctor at a 4th of July party tonight (small town ). He said everything looked perfect and he was actually quite impressed with my vitamin levels since he sees a lot of Vitamin D and B12 deficiencies in "normal" people. I think he's finally warming up to the idea that I might have made a good choice with this surgery. I made the decision to have surgery and ran off to Mexico all by myself and I don't think he was too thrilled with me not saying anything to him beforehand.

No judgement - just MY thoughts for ME! I swore to myself that if I was ever given the opportunity to have the surgery - I would never go back to the way I was - size wise and miserable. If eating fast food was a contributor to my weight then to me it's no longer an option. It's easier for me to avoid something if I tell myself I can't have it than if I had to CHOOSE not to have it. I am not on a diet - I have chosen to live a better and healthier lifestyle.

One thing I like about logging my food on myfitnesspal is that I have given my NUT access so she can review what I am eating and give me advice. So far I have been doing good but if I was having a problem - at least she can review it and give me advice!!

To get things "moving" drink pear juice (I got it from the baby food aisle). Helped one person today already! I was sleeved 5/28. Hit what I felt was a stall in lbs but my pants were getting too big. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat so if you are exercising...."...there you have it. This week alone I have lost 5 lbs. the stalls happen. Don't get discouraged and only weigh yourself once a week. We are all going through this but everyone's results will vary!

I could not help but reply to this post. I think about my experience with battling with my weight and what I went through to have my surgery (paying out of pocket for the whole thing). I just feel amazed that so early out or even in the pre-op stage anyone is thinking about eating McDonalds. My thought is I never want to go back to being 300lbs again in my life so whatever I have to do I am going to do it. These days and the days of the individuals I know are successful with weight loss and weight loss maintenance are more focused on Protein, Vitamins, getting veggies in, drinking at least 70oz of liquids. I am wondering how anyone 6 weeks out is able to eat pizza. I am 8 weeks and three days... and I barely get my 1/4 to 1/2c of food in. Also, how did you get past your fears to try McDonalds and pizza after all that was taught in the NUT classes? They scared me to death so I haven't touched the stuff nor do I have an interest in trying it.
In 2 months and 3 days, I have managed to loss 61lbs. I am so determined to reach my goal. Their isn't a burger, fry, pizza, soda, candy bar, ice cream or cookie that could alter what I want most. My health, no medicines, no hypertension, a non-diabetic... I guarantee you once you start seeing the weight drop... your desires for that burger will go away. Don't set yourself up for failure before you even have the surgery! Just think about why you decided to have the surgery and what you see in your future.
I know it is not realistic to believe that you will deprive yourself for the rest of your life but it is realistic to deprive yourself for 1-2 years until you are healthy and know how to properly eat in portions. The first year is suppose to be your best year... give yourself a fighting chance for at least that year.
I am also continuing my counsel post op. My thoughts are food is my crack and when individuals on crack want to break the habit... they go to rehab. My rehab is my counseling so I can figure out why I would let myself even get 300lbs.
This is not a judgment... just a thought!

Maybe try telling yourself "I choose not to eat these foods" Instead of saying you can't hav them...!! It's really difficult, but wow I never want to go thru this again, after everything I went thru the last 4 weeks, forget McD's, or my favorite mexican resturant..I want the weight loss more than the burger, or Burritos'..Good Luck!!

@Bufflehead I have FINALLY started using My Fitness Pal on my phone, since I always have it with me, easier that trying to write it down...I was not diligent...I admit it A friend just gave me a fitbit, so I will be doing the sync up thing shortly...but I didn't know that I could customize MFP!!! So this weekend, after my pool workout, I will play with that some more while I'm drying off in the sun (yes, I bought a bathing suit!! YIKES )
I love the info I collect from everyone here!!!

I track everything via MFP. Exercise, food intake, etc. It really helps a lot. It will also track your measurements...I tend to do a weigh-in and measurements every Friday (keeping with the Fourth of July challenge)...otherwise I get scale obsessed.
Make sure you're eating the right foods as well. You mention eating a cup of coleslaw? There's little to no Protein there. You want to get your Protein in first. Fresh salmon is good, pizza is not. Definitely not at the early stage you're at: too many carbs and not nearly enough protein.
I would really suggest MFP and tracking your protein intake (it does most of the work for you...you just have to plug in the foods and it does the rest)

I'm a believer of more calories over less. I'd go up to 1000 calories for a few days then down to 600-800. Keeping the calories ranging helps your body wake up a bit and the metabolism guessing.

I stalled from Week 3 -6 and have lost about 11 lbs since my stall. I am 9 weeks from surgery today. I have decided to not let the scale concern me so much as today I am wearing a pair of size 20 jeans when I was in a tight 24 prior to surgery! Measure inches and you will be amazed how many you loose with the scale not moving!

I use the Syntrax matrix Peanut Butter cookie not too sweet and not too thick, I mix it with milkfor the extra Protein and calories since I do not eat much at "meals". I had a really hard time in the beginning and was only able to start shakes after one month post surgery. I also like the Atkins pre made shakes for when Im on the go. $5 something for 4 at Walmart not too sweet and none of that artificial sweetner taste I can't tolerate since my surgery!

You don't. What you should worry about is getting enough Protein and fluids. Calorie count is irrelevant
