Yes it is associated with sliming. It means literally Productive Burp. If you eat small bites and chew thoroughly, waiting before taking another bite you can avoid the pain and embarrassment of a PB. It helps to focus on your eating while you eat. I have had it happen when I am eating with friends and talking. If I don't focus on slowing down I revert back to the way I have eaten all my life and soon I am abruptly reminded I wasn't focused.

Hi, I was banded March 26 and I am able to eat anything. As long as I take small bites and chew well and pause between bites I can eat all the things I have always eaten. I too was worried I would have to give up my favorite foods after surgery but I haven't had to. Of course the amounts have changed drastically but that is what it's all about. Miki it sounds like you may need a slight unfill. If you are taking tiny bites and waiting betweeen bites until you feel ok after swallowing and still having pain then it sounds as though you may need it. I have a tendancy to eat too fast so that happens to me alot if I am not completely focused when I eat. It is hard when you are with friends because you revert back to previous eating habits. I hope all goes well for you and you are ok for your trip.

I had my first fill today. The surgeon said I have a #10 band which is a 4cc band, he put 2cc's in it. I feel fine and it seemed like I had less to eat for dinner. I ate soup to play it safe. I am looking forward to more restriction. I lost 5 more pounds since the last visit.

Miki, I am sorry you had so much pain. I agree with michelle88 and Arley that everyone experiences fullness differently. I too notice if I take too big a bite (usually when I am not paying attention) and don't chew it enough, and then take another bite I am in big trouble. I instantly get pain in my shoulder and a tightness in my chest. I just have to wait for it to either go down or come back up. And it usually comes back up without my doing much. It just kind of slides up my throat and then I feel much better. It's all a learning process for us and each of us has to find how our band reacts. I hope you are feeling better now. I know when I get that feeling I get a whole new respect for the band and take much smaller bites and slow down. I used to be the first one done eating and it takes a great deal of effort to slow myself down. Sometimes my DH will say "slow down" if he notices I am eating too fast.....Kathy

Sufina, Good luck to you in your banding next month. I am glad you were able to find a doctor willing to give you fills locally. I know it is hard because many doctors aren't willing to take on a patient from a doctor in Mexico. Hope all goes well for you........Kathy

Brandy, The bloodwork can still get to the DR in time. The lab usually faxes it to them. As for the brand I believe the brand is Allergan (Lapband) and the two sizes they use are the 4cc and the 10cc. The 4cc is the most common size they use. At least that is what I was told. Hope this answers your questions. Any questions I can answer for you I will, and I don't think Rosemary minds answering questions either. She is a very nice lady.

The only surgeons I know in Eugene are Drs. Umbach and Yarbrough at the Oregon Bariatric Center at Sacred Heart Medical Center....Kathy

Hi Brandy, I only know what I experienced at my pre-op appt and what took place was preadmission in the hospital, and EKG and lots of informative paperwork was given to me. I also met with the surgeon again and was weighed to make sure I had lost the required amount of weight before surgery. Then I also met the Anestheisiologist. All in all I felt it prepared me for the actual day of surgery. I had many questions and they were all answered at that point. I hope this helps to give you an idea of what will take place........Kathy

Good Thread Harley, I am Kathy and I too live in OrYgon. I am retired from the telephone company in Los Angeles and am enjoying the good life with my hubby and our RV. Right now we are doing some remodeling of our house so we are pretty busy with that.

Good Luck Brandy, I also was to have Dr Umbach and actually had Dr Yarbrough perform my surgery last week. I was very pleased with him as well. He is very personable and I think you'll like him also. I am glad you are alright now. I am doing well, had surgery last Wednesday and I feel pretty good now. Occasional neck pain and my stomach hurts if I bend over but other than that pretty good. Kathy

JDUB0414 I bought some liquid calcium at the health food store since they are usually so large and I didn't want to have to cut them into halves. The liquid I got is orange flavored and also contains vitamin D and magnesium which the lady in the store recommended. Makes it much easier to get down...Kathy

Hi Bimby, I had my surgery in Eugene, OR but I live about 70 miles away in Roseburg which is south of there. We moved here 5 1/2 years ago after retiring. We love it here. Except the winters. I am used to sunshine and there aren't that many sunny days here in the winter. But when it shines here, it is gloriously beautiful. Kathy

Hi Phyllser, We live in Roseburg, OR and spent 6 weeks in Arizona and Nevada from December to Feb in our RV. I wasn't banded then and wondered what it would be like to be away from the security net of the drs ofc. I would like to be able to leave every winter for a couple of months. Being from Southern California the winters here are hard to take and the sunshine down south is like medicine to me. Where in Palm Springs do you stay? Is it a park or do you have property there? I originally was to have Dr Umbach but I understand he left for another state so Dr Yarborough will be doing my surgery. I have my pre-op appt on Thursday morning. Kathy

Hi Reen, I am being banded the same day as you. My surgery is scheduled for 10am. I live in Oregon and my Dr is in Eugene. Hi Sharon, I live in Oregon and I am home as of last night. It was a long trip home due to road closures and having to take the coast to get home in the rain. It makes me nervous to ride in the rain in the motorhome. Anyway, I haven't been scheduled yet but I have my nutrition class left to complete and then I will be submitted for insurance approval. I start this week on that. I gained an additional 8 pounds so now I have to lose that and then from 5 to 10 pounds. GRRRR! Why did I do that to myself!! The road from Reno to Vegas is pretty snowed in, be careful.
