Stomach Sleepers-How soon after surgery could you sleep on your stomach?
I bought a body pillow (because someone recommended I get a body pillow) I'm hoping it helps with the stomach sleeping issue once I get home from the hospital. I'm not really even sure how to use this body pillow, but I expect I'll figure it out!

Out of pocket cost
I will not know how much it costs here in Kansas City till after 4/23. Once I see that bill I'll put it out there. Luckily for me I have UHC PPO and only have to meet $1,500 OOP for the year. I already met that with the EGD, and other side visits, CPAP monthly charges, etc. So my surgery will cost me $0.(and so will everything else this year!!!) But, I am really curious, myself, on how much the final cost will be.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!
@@gal friday not sure why you are no longer a therapist, but in my opinion, if someone is that thin skinned, then they really have no business in a public forum such as this. While some folks are super sweet, and sappy, many are just human, and flawed, and entitled to their opinion. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. If someone has issues with the messages they have received on the site, they can certainly move on to another site (which will be no different.....or may be worse) or stay off public forums altogether and do the in person support groups, or see their own practicing therapist. my 2 cents.

Here's my story... A to W
All the best to you! And welcome to BP! I'm 53, and also have had a steady gain throughout the years. I was thin, though, a few times in my life, but not really for very long. My VSG date is 4/23/15, and it seems like time has stood still. It just can't get here soon enough. I have some of the same "wants" OH! To cross my legs, trim my toenails and polish them by myself. See you around the forums!! Best of luck to you on your journey to great health and long life!

Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery
I would also think cottonmouth would be really tough when you can only sip, sip, sip......

Cold Medicine
I bet your Surgeon could answer that question for you. Although, there are probably some doctors, nurses and veteran bariatric patients who could answer it as well. For sure not Alka seltzer! I work with someone just back from sleeve surgery and she has a really bad head cold. But I don't know if she's taking anything for it.

An extremely long time before surgery (insurance imposed)
One thing for sure, once you are done completing all the requirements, and jumping through all the insurance hoops, you will know that this is the right step for you (or that it is not the right step for you) Some people give up. Those people probably wouldn't do well with the surgery, because once you have the procedure done, there's no going back. There's no saying, "I don't like this afterall, This is too hard, it's taking too long, I think I'll just eat the way I did before". Once you have the surgery, you're committed to this lifestyle change!

An extremely long time before surgery (insurance imposed)
yep! luckily for me, I had coworkers who went through the process, and warned me. I started monthly weigh in visits with my PCP prior to the first of the year when I took out the insurance, so I had the hard part done.

YAY!! I will be sleeved that same week!

How much did everyone lose before surgery?
nothing. Not required. I will have a 1 week liquid liver shrinking diet right before surgery. I am actually on the low end of the 40 BMI...meaning I barely squeeked by with no comorbidities to get insurance approval.

So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
@@LipstickLady have I told you lately that you crack me up? I think if we were neighbors, we'd be great friends.

So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
I am so glad to hear that I will be able to use a straw! It is soooo hard to drink from a wide mouth bottle in the car. My husband was driving the other day, and I was so thirsty, so I tried to take a drink, and ended up wearing it. (wide mouth bottle because I love lots of ice.)

Top 10 Bariatric Post Op Mistakes
Thank you for this. I saved the link and pasted it into a private FB support group I am a part of. There are several women I work with who don't take Vitamins, and don't believe they need to, it's just a way to sell bariatric vitamins, and milk more money out of the patient. I am a FIRM believer in vitamins and Water. Always have been, and even more so now. I sure hope my peeps read it. and go out and get their vitamins.
