  1. @@mclorrie the time will start to fly...I promise. Then it'll be surgery day, you will be in recovery before you know it saying...I can't believe I really did it! At least that was my experience. I still can't believe I really did it!!
  2. @@jjflamingoVSG I am just starting purees, so I've been on Clear liquids this whole time. Applesauce is wonderful. I don't have my follow up visit till Thursday, so I can't be released to go back to work before then. He and I already discussed the amount of time I intend to take, and he was fine with it. Taking the extra time is time for me to get adjusted to this new lifestyle, know what to pack for a lunch, get out and buy a new tiny lunch bag, and get some clothes that fit. I can't believe how much I have lost already! But my staples have to come out, and I need some time for me. I've been on the treadmill daily, trying to remain active.
  3. @@nprcowboy WOW! looking good! I bet you feel good too!! I am only 4 days post op. I can't wait to post a before and after as impressive as yours!
  4. I'm sleeping in the spare bedroom downstairs away from hubs and pups. I am generally a side or stomach sleeper, but am sleeping fine on my back. I stack pillows in such a way that it props me up some. I'm so comfortable that I wake up in the same position I went to sleep in. I told my hubs I like it down here, I think I'll stay in the spare bedroom. He didn't like that idea too much. Don't buy a recliner, unless you really think you need a recliner. If it is just for your comfort after surgery, get pillows instead.
  5. @@pampam12 I slept like a baby the night before, but I really never worried. I had my surgery last Thursday. My surgery was originally scheduled for 11am. But I was bumped up to 10am. So, I got there at 8:30am, and I barely had my clothes off and into a gown, with my IV before they said...we're bumping you up again, because we can;t get IV's in two ladies. So I was whisked away to the OR, and all I remember is waking up in recovery. My pain level never got above a 6, but I had a pain pump to manage my pain. The only place that hurt was where the drain was (the tube goes across your diaphragm) and the site where the stomach was removed. I walked 1 hour after being moved to my room, and I got up to walk every 2 hours. I went home the next day at 8am. I have been following the diet religiously, and walking on the treadmill 20 minutes a day since coming home. Attitude is everything. Go in tomorrow morning READY for your life to change and your health to improve. I feel better already. Wishing you all the best, and a speedy and painfree recovery. Editing: I forgot to add...I don't feel hunger. I can't tell if I'm full. I just follow the suggested amounts (2 tablespoons) and no more, to be sure I don;t overeat and get sick. Have not been sick at all.
  6. @@AvaFern Indeed!! the BEST drugs EVER!! And they sent me home with two bottles of some awesome pain relief. I am being kept VERY comfortable and happy!! I just cant say enough good things about my experience.
  7. I understand completely. I was too.
  8. @@debbie813 I just had my surgery last Thursday. My advice is to stop being nervous. These surgeons have this procedure down! I went in on surgery day, barely got my clothes off, a gown on, and IV in, before they said....we're bumping you up, can't IV 2 ladies, so you;re next. Next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. I truly believe attitude is everything. When I went in I was not worried, and I had every faith in my surgeon. My pain level never got above a 6. Since I've been home, I've followed my food plan, been walking on the treadmill, etc. I am one of the lucky ones, but so can you be. Wishing you all the best, and a swift and nearly painless recovery!
  9. @@Joz31 so that was YOU! (kidding) I am sorry you had a tough time with that. It's over now...WE DID IT!! Now it's just a matter of healing and following the food plan to lose the weight and get healthy. The bumped me up again when I got there. I barely got my clothes off and they said...bumping you up again, can't get IV's in 2 patients so you are next! I was in my room before 11am. I didn't have enough time to even get nervous or worry. I got my clothes off, the IV in and next thing I knew I was in recovery. My pain level never got above a 6. I was one of the lucky ones!
  10. isn't it funny how the mind works. It doesn't want you sick.
  11. I have UHC and my preop diet began one week before the surgery date, which was a couple weeks after the preop appointment. I was approved 2 days after submitting it to UHC. Some folks with my same surgeon had 2 weeks liquid diet, some had 1, not sure why. But, I got lucky and had only 1 and it went by fast, and I lost 12 pounds on it.
  12. When was your surgery? Are you following the diet plan as your dietitian set for you? I am only 4 days post op for Gastric Sleeve, so I can't answer to gastric bypass questions, but I suppose it all depends on where you are in your recovery.
  13. @@Joz31 I haven't heard from you...how you doing? I didn't see anyone in recovery. I had ladies on both sides of me writhing in pain, and I just wanted to wake up enough to move on over to my room, those ladies were making me so sad...like they were already regretting what they had done, and they hadn't even woke up yet. Holler!!
  14. @@FlabbyNat I am so sorry you are not feeling great. I have been lucky I guess. No nausea, getting my fluids in fine. I have taken the liquid hydrocodone for pain, it helps me sleep (I am not a back sleeper...but I have to be for now). I haven't slimed or dry heaved, or anything. My tummy does talk to me all the time, though. That's something I have heard we will be dealing with forever. I hate it that we all can't come out of this and instantly feel great. But I feel pretty great. I do have to nap throughout the day. I have been doing 20 minutes on the treadmill, and that wears me out a little. Hang in there....it won't be long before you will be ready to get up and go.
  15. @@Debbieduck4 yep, exactly why I will be taking off the full 4 weeks. I sit too, and rarely get a break or lunch (I'm a supervisor at a call center) Our call center is 100,000 sq ft, but we use instant messaging to be more "efficient". I worry about getting in my walks once I get back to work.
  16. I am off this week as pto, and the next 3 as short term disability. Taking off the full 4 weeks allowed by my employer!! Gives me time to get used to this new lifestyle, and get into a routine. Plus, I have nothing to wear back to work yet. Ineed to lose a few more pounds, then I'll raid my closet.
  17. @@erose321 I heard that about those Vitamins. I use the ones from the bariatric center I go to. But I don't even start those till my week anniversary.
  18. yep...you'd only need help with lifting. I'd just not lift until you are released to lift. My husband wants to do for me...anything. But, I don't need help. I would love it if he would do the laundry, but really....I did it the night before surgery, and we both have enough undies and socks to make it till I can lift 15 pounds again. You can definitely do this by yourself.
  19. @@LisaAlwaysSmiling yep! felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest for two days. I used a gasx strip, and I have belched and "broke wind" quite a bit, and it's gone now. It never traveled to my shoulders either, thank goodness!!
  20. I would skip it if it were me. Your hair is going to thin out some anyway (probably) you don't want it fragile where it could break off too. But that's just me. My hair fine, so I never color mine, due to breakage.
  21. @@Stevehud Have you tried the sprouted breads? they are pretty good, but go bad rather quickly.Whole foods carries them
  22. I gave up real coffee 2 weeks prior to my surgery, because I knew I wouldn't be able to have it afterward. I switched to decalf during those 2 weeks. I am only post op 2 days, but I don't crave coffee like I thought I would. I am craving Water...which seems very weird to me.
  23. I woke up super early this morning,(I fell asleep at 7:30pm last night) I got up at around midnight and took some liquid hydracodone, and right now I am not in pain. YAY!! I took off the nausea patch they put behind my ear.....I kept touching. They stress..."DON'T TOUCH IT!!" but I did, so I removed it, Still trying to figure out how to take an omeprazole capsule. I broke one open last night, and that was nasty.
  24. I have that same elephant! @@erose321
  25. I survived the surgery! I am home now, but feel like crap. I have heard that it will pass, and I will feel really good in a few days. I'll be happy to see that day when I don;t feel like crap..Not sure how peeps actually go back to work in a week.
