Hi, I'm Nancy and I officially started this process April 1st. I have thought about bariatric surgery for some time but was under the impression I could not have it due to another condition I have, Barrett's Esophagus. I was thrilled when I found out that indeed, I could have the surgery.

Like most of you I have tried just about every diet out there and own probably every book written on weight loss. Even with all that I cannot keep the weight off. I can lose it but I put the weight back on and then some. I am looking at bariatric surgery as a last ditch effort. If I can't make it with this surgery then their is no hope for me to loose weight and keep it off. I am tired of having no energy, constant pain in my hips, knees, ankles, feet and every muscle in between.

I know bariatric surgery isn't a magic solution and the work to be done afterwards will be there the rest of my life but I believe the results will be worth it. I am so thankful for this site and for all of you who are going through this as well as those on the other side who are so generous with advice and the sharing of your experiences.

In the last three weeks I have started the 3 month required medically supervised diet; met with the dietician, as well as with the psychiatrist ($230.00 and 4 hours total..wow!). I won't meet with my surgeon and his team until July with hopes of surgery in early August. I was told it may take the insurance that long to give final approval.

So, here I am! Ready to do the work! Ready to share any knowledge I have or will have with any who want it and so happy for all of you!!!!
