dsdesigna got a reaction from Miss Mac in Need ideas; what should i tell my boss
by law personal medical information should not be shared with employers. It's illegal for them to hold it against you as long as you give them notice that you are going to be doing something, you have no obligation to be specific. HR might need to know but only if you need job modification. And they are legally bound not to divulge that information

Curious how each surgeon does things differently. I didn't have to do any of that, not even once, even though I was told that I would. Perhaps they did it when I was still drugged with anesthesia and I just don't remember it. There is a huge chunk of time that I was apparently communicating with people but I just don't remember.
Glad you are doing ok. I am 12 days post op and although it does get better, it's still an uphill climb.

I totally feel you on not wanting to do this. But a couple of things I want to share on the hunoirous side.
1- I have a new understanding of Michael Jackson. I got propophyl for my anesthesia and although this at first concerned me since It caused him a bucket kick - I now understand him
2- propophyl ---- best damn 20 minute nap I've ever had!!!
3- the nurse was so scared to stick my IV in my veins - quite comical as I have some gorgeous running lines there- cause she couldn't see them. The anesthesiologist did it. What amazing hands this guy had. Didn't feel a damn thing.
He offered to give her the propophyl

I am in Lubbock, Charlotte did my surgery on the 8th. I'm on full liquids. I had my one week follow up on tuesday, and am down about 20lbs from the beginning of this journey.
I'm happy with my experience. I'm happy that she was my surgeon, something about her being a woman was comforting. I'm sure Dr. Barker or one of the other docs would have been great as well.

You may be having an adverse reaction to the anesthesia, it's perfectly normal but understandbly disturbing. Walking and drinking plenty of fluids will get it flushed out of your system sooner. You may want to talk to your doc about a temporary anti anxiety med just to help through this time. It will get better. Try to relax, do things that will distract you from it. Go shopping, take in a movie.
Good luck, it does get better!

Be prepared to be in pain. I am 6 days post op for the Switch and I can't imagine going on any vacation anytime soon. Two weeks out from surgery and your incisions haven't even healed completely. I have one on my left side that hurts only when I move.
You'll need to and want to be walking but prepare for your belly to be very sore.
    Keep hydrated and good luck.
Oh and beware of sneezing. Try to hold your incisions while you sneeze, it minimizes the pain.

If women are known to become extremely fertile as they lose weight, certainly breast tissue growth is very likely.

That's funny, cause my gas pain kept venturing to my breasts as well. I expect fullness might have the same effect.

She had it backwards. Not sure where the exact 86 percent came from....but it's around that who keep off the majority of excess weight off. There is a lot of new research that definitively shows the sleeve and by-pass work by resetting the metabolism. Start with googling bile acids and vsg. The nihi has a great study entitled, "not all bariatric surgeries created equally," despite the hokey title, it's pretty in depth about the metabolic resetting.

Hi all, I'm slated to have surgery in July if all goes well. I'm looking forward to the journey with excitement and curiousity. I have 3 aunts, an uncle, a cousin and his wife, and finally my own father that have all had various forms of WL surgery. My dad had the sleeve last year and is doing well. I'm having the DS as recommended by my doc. The more research I do the more it seems like the only real choice.
