mgolden1984 got a reaction from Kimberly Bouche-Perez in Band slippage revision to RNY. A question about insurance!
After the band I was in pain from the gas mostly and my port site but I remember waking up from the surgeey in so much pain and when I tried telling the nurse she was sharp with me saying I already gave you meds I was nauseous too and when I had to get up and walk it was awful I could barely move. Hoping the pain for revision and removal is no worse than this if I made it through that and giving birth to two kids I can make it through this time too...I hope!

Also experiencing the same thing had an upper GI band had slipped having issues with weight regain reflex food getting stuck and lots of pain. My Dr is doing the paperwork for a revision to bypass if approved it will be August 4th. I also am nervous by such a serious surgery but then I think look at what I've excepted now and deal with daily I can and will be able to handle the pain post surgery (always my biggest fear is pain) the Dr said he can do it laproscopically fingers crossed for an approval

I was revised from band to bypass (band removed at same time as I was revised to rny) on May 21,2014 8 weeks ago and I can tell you 1. It's so much easier than the band 2. My recovery was easier than when I was banded 3. I never throw up 4. I can eat and not worry if there is a bathroom nearby if I have to throw up 5. I feel amazing! 6. I am self pay and would do the rny again in a heartbeat but wouldn't do the band again.

Well, I am sitting in the El Paso airport waiting for my flight home. Everything went great. The doctors and staff are very nice. Everyone was very accommodating. Dr. Rod was helpful and eager to answer all of my questions. I am sore now 2 days post surgery but nothing unbearable. The doctor came in to take my drain out and asked me if I was ready to cry. I became worried. He asked me if I wanted to hold my moms hand. As I grabbed her hand he started to take his gloves off. He was done! He was funny. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I can't wait to start seeing results. Good luck to everyone.

one more review just came in !!!
I had gastric sleeve surgery on 11/05/2014. I started ~ 280 lbs., I am now 215. I haven't tried hard to loose weight more than just what naturally came off due to the surgery. I seem to have plateaued now and if I am going to loose more I need to exercise more and watch my diet but 65 lbs. has made a lot of difference in my health and wellbeing. My wife had the same surgery in 6/2012. She went from 260 to her current 115. She is radical about it, walks 6 miles a day and limits nutritional intake. My wife is an RN, I've been an EMT for years. Their hospital in Juarez is clean, everyone is professional. My wife say's they are putting more effort into English speaking staff for the Americans from when she was there vs. when I went (she came with me). The Docs speak good English, 50% of staff mediocre, 25 % no habla.... My wife and I both agree care was adequate/appropriate. Floor equipment is antiquated by US standards, but surgical equipment seemed current and up to date for their specialty procedures. There are no frills, I'd just encourage you to get up and moving after sx. Neither of us had any complications or infections. Normal recovery, after about a week I returned to work with no problem. We flew in to El Paso, driver picked us up at the airport, got us over the border in and out with no problems. Good luck.

    here is more!!!
Here is my story Rose, i have been a first responder for 8 years had no medical worries at all!! I was first introduced to BeLite by my best friend in 2011. As I watched her go through a transformation, it was something that I knew I wanted to experience also. It was a slow process for me getting up the nerve to even call. The first contact I had with BeLite was in November 2012; I inquired about pricing and got a feel for what could happen in my life if I had the surgery. As the months went by the pounds got heavier. I got an email in February asking me if I was still interested. I just got laid off and thought well I can’t afford it. Excuse after excuse. When I finally made the decision to call back again in May, The time had come for the change, I was ready for. June the 25th was the date! I flew to El Paso, and there waiting was a taxi that BeLite had set up for me and my mom to be taken across to Juarez. I had lived in El Paso many years ago and had been to Juarez, it was great being back there. We went across and had about a 20 minute taxi ride, great site seeing. I was so excited I knew my life was going to change. When we arrived @ the Hospital there was one of the Dr’s waiting to get me checked in and my test ran. Everything was moving so fast my heart was racing. This was about 11am by 3 pm I was headed back to the surgery prep area. I was back from recovery by 6 pm and walking the halls by 9 pm. 2 days later I walked to the mall and went and had a pedicure. I arrived on a Tuesday and left out on a Friday. My experience at the hospital in Juarez was fabulous, I felt like a princess in the hospital. The nurses were very caring and always asking if I needed anything. The Dr’s were great; their bed side manner was one of a kind. This is one of the best decisions I have made. It has been 8 months (June 2013) and I have lost a total of 103 lbs. (So if you really want to know I weighed in @ 299 before the surgery). That is from my weigh in before the pre-op diet till now. I am still losing weight slowly, I did join the gym 6 weeks after the surgery and I have had a trainer to help me through the transition. I have not set a number goal I just had to set free from all the weight I was carrying around. Now when I see someone who is carrying that same weight I am, I tell them about BeLite, it has changed my life and could change theirs. Thanks Amie Surgeons: Dr. Jose Rodriguez & Dr. Elmo

My Dr does the removal then you have to do the program again it takes about 6 months then if approved you can have another surgery done such as the sleeve that's what I'm Hoping for. I've gained back all the weight I lost with the bans I'm so SAd about it! I feel like a lapband loser and not in a good way. I just want to be healthy and not hungry wanting food all the time

Hi. I'm in the same boat as many of you, as it would seem. I'm about 4 years out from being banded the first year was the greatest year of my adult life. The band was so helpful and I had very little problems. Then the 2nd year, trouble started slowly....vomiting, not tolerating ANY bread, red meat and really only chicken as Protein. This lady year has been the worst. Probably my biggest problem was when I was banded, it was covered by my then husbands insurance...when we divorced the insurance went too and only my insurance, which no way covered anything to do with bariatric. So, I didn't see a surgeon for just about 3 years....now, new insurance, new surgeon and really wanting this band out....gained 40lbs cuz most days and barely get Water or any Fluid down and resorting to lots of spoonfuls of creamy Peanut Butter late at night. Vomiting every single day almost any "real" meal just vary crazy way to live....hoping for band to be removed and getting the gastric sleeve. Seems like there's no question that I need the restriction and this procedure seems like it's the way to go. Thanks for whomever listens, just good to get it off my chest to people whom understand. My new hubby is a chef and just doesn't get not eating...he actually gets hurt cuz I can't eat most of his delicious meals.

Girly girl I got my band in November of 2005. I had the same experience as you. At first I did very well. Lost about 90 pounds but band was very tight lived on Protein Shakes. In pain just drinking. Then I got stuck once on broccoli and thought I was having a heart attack Never got to that sweet spot. Miserable. I decided to get the band removed and sleeved in one procedure scheduled for April 1. It is a hard decision to make but the years go by so fast. I was also angry with myself. But I know that I can't do it without the sleeve. Do some soul searching. We have all been through the endless diets, pills . I don't want to let any more of my life slip away. I know it us a huge decision. You know what you need to do. Good luck in your decision making. We are here for you.

I had the lap band 7 years ago. My lapband never worked for me. I never had the sensation of fullness. In Dec , 2013 I had the sleeve and what a difference. For me, I can feel the fullness with only eating a little. My esophagus did stretch with the lapband ..but I was told it will reduce in time. The sleeve did for me what the lapband could not. So I am a happy camper.

Okay. So I completely understand Debbie sharing her experience on the forum to "warn people". My question is why did a representative of MBC post confidential medical information about Debbie on a public forum? I understand that Mexico may not have the same laws protecting medical information but with Sourcis being the parent company and American that they would have to protect the patients medical records and could not release them without permission or court order. Maybe it's me thinking this?
