My doc's answer on carbonation....love it!!
I was drinking a lot of sodas after my 2nd fill. Since I've had my 3rd fill I'm really restricted and have maybe one a week. It takes me 2-3 days to drink 20 ozs and it's usually flat by the time I finish. I buy the 20 oz diet Sprite and drink what I want, cap it off and put it back in the fridge. My doctor too says no sodas, but I drink very little at one time and no big gulps.

Have a recommendation for self-pay in Dallas/Ft Worth area?
I too was banded by Dr. Powell back in August 2004, I had my surgery at Renaissance Hospital. We were so impressed with him that my hubby got banded by him last Monday at SCOR. He is a very cautious doctor that listens to you. I'm not sure on self pay but I know he has financing options, I've seen the brochures. www.weightnot.net is his website. Let me know if I can answer any questions about him and his wonderful staff.

Need more calories...
I just looked into it and it's made with milk. I am lactose intolerant and would feel like I would explode. Does anyone know of something w/o milk?

Need more calories...
I need some opinions here... I had my 3rd fill about 3 weeks ago. This fill has a lot of restriction to it. I finally figured out how much I can eat w/o getting sick. I am able to eat about 4 ozs of food and that's it. I have been very tired lately and my weight loss hasn't moved. I seriously think I am not getting in enough calories. I have almost no interest in food, I literally have to make myself eat. I hate food these days. Is anyone here on Slim Fast as just something to give you some additional calories to add to what you are eating? I do eat 3 times a day even if I don't want to. I've decided to count calories to make sure I am getting enough to see how I feel and if I keep losing weight. Thanks.

How do you get your powdered protein to dissolve?
Hubby and I found that GNC has a plastic cup with a lid that mixes. All you do is shake. It's white with a red lid and is around $10. It works great!

Protein.. Suggestions needed
I like Isopure Peanut Butter & Chocolate Swirl. It has 50 grams of protein. Sometimes I just mix 1/2 and drink it and drink the rest of it later.

Hubby getting banded...
on Monday (hopefully). He is going to use the same doctor I did. I hope he has the same wonderful experience I did. Everyone that used SCOR did you have a good experience? I was banded at Renissance (sp) Hospital. I have used SCOR for fills and have been happy... Please keep him in your thoughts... I have the jitters and it's not even me having the surgery.

Banded Couples..
I am just curious to the number of banded couples here. My hubby is getting banded on the 16th.

how much have you paid SINCE banding?
I am very fortunate that Microsoft paid 100% for my surgery and fills.

antidepressants/psych meds?
Update on me: The Lexapro quit working, which I know is a common occurance. I got weaned off it while starting up Zoloft. I am now at 100mg of Zoloft and feeling pretty good. From what I understand Zoloft is a better long term drug than Lexapro. My medical doctor said that she no longer prescribes Lexapro because it does seem to lose effectiveness after a person has been taking it a while and they always had to up the dose. She likes Zoloft a lot better than Lexapro for her patients.

August Bandsters Updates....
I am doing great. I just had my 3rd fill this past week, I have no idea how much I have in my band at the moment. I am down 60lbs and feeling pretty good. I really needed this last fill for about a month because I was able to eat waaaay tooo much, but I decided to wait until after the holidays to get it so my weight loss really slowed down. My rings are getting way too loose on me, I am going to have to get my wedding set sized and I am down from a tight 24 (2x) to 16/18 (XL). My hubby is getting banded on the 16th!! So he can join the fun of bandland soon!

How Long Liquids?
The Surgery Center of Richardson says 3 days of liquids, then 3 days of mushies.
-
Back to being good...
I am getting ready to head out for fill #3. I have needed this one for a while, but was a bad girl to wait so that I could enjoy my holidays (meaning holiday foods). The holidays are gone so it's time to get back on track with the band. My weight loss has been slowing down to about 5lbs a month so it's time. Hopefully I've lost enough weight that they don't have to dig for my port.

Rate of weight loss preband/postband
I know someone will want to slap me for this.. I have been overweight since I can remember. I was a size 20 in the 8th grade. I've tried a diet here and there, but nothing for long periods of time as I had NO willpower. I have lost weight quickly with the band. The last month has been slow, but I knew I needed another fill but waited until after the holidays were over so that I can enjoy some good holiday foods. I have lost almost 60lbs since August, 2005. I'm happy with my progress. I think because I really didn't diet that much (if any) in the past 5 years my metabolism wasn't shot and that's why I am losing. Yo-yo dieters eventually screw up their metabolism. Best of luck to everyone!

Possible Clothing Swap for Texas LBTs...
Sounds great... I'll set it up in my calendar to remind me. Even if we can just get together and talk (since we all need about the same size) that would be nice.
