    OCTOBER 2014

@@amylynns, I'm doing bariatric advantage and the chocolate is also not my favorite. Vanilla was better, but it's still tough. I may try mix it with something - I hadn't thought of that!
  2. I'm enjoying one final week of solids before I go full fledge liquid next Friday. My preop diet is 2 shakes and 1 meal per day. I'm enjoying that meal with every fiber of my being lol. Next Friday is liquids only. I've been eating main,y chicken, though Tóday I did have a sirloin steak. Great in protein and low in carb. That's been my goal. I'm only doing about 50-55 carbs per day, which will lower next Friday.

Amylynns, which chocolate shake are you doing preop? My appt today was pretty uneventful. Just some basic preregistration questions, blood work, and met with the anesthesiologist. I also found out my surgery time had changed. It was scheduled, according to the surgeons office, for an 8:00am arrival and 10:00am surgery, but, when I got to the hospital today, they have me scheduled for a 5:00am arrival and 7:00am surgery! The hospital said that their times are right, but, I'm still going to check next week with the surgeons office!

    Preop Appt tomorrow!
  5. I have a $2000 deductible and $2500 maximum out of a pocket, which totals to $4,500 before my insurance picks up all. As of now, my deductible is met, but only about $160 of my OOP is met. I've already paid my surgeons office for the surgery, so I'm guessing the bills I get from here forward will be a hospital bill, anesthesiologist bill, and I was told that I would get a separate bill from another doctor that assists my surgeon during surgery.

Wow, I'm 16 days from surgery! Getting nervous but so excited. Congrats and good luck everyone! For everyone that is postop, what kind of Protein are you using? What's the best protein you've tried? I've heard good things about unjury.

    Started my PreOp diet

What preop diet are you doing? Mine isn't technically supposed to start until Friday, but, I went ahead and started Monday to get a headstart on the liver reduction process. My surgeon has me on two shakes per day, and one lean/green high Protein, low carb meal. I find myself hungrier at night, which has led me to going to bed sooner. Unfortunately, the shakes I'm doing aren't that appealing, taste wise, so I'm not drinking them fully, so that adds to my hunger, I'm sure. Tomorrow is day four for me so I'm hoping it starts to get a little more bearable. Best of luck to you!
  8. Thanks for all your replies! That sounds interesting about chewing the food and spitting it out. Hadn't really thought of that. While it seems like a good idea, I'd be afraid of being tempted and going through the swallowing motion, too, lol! My weaknesses come when I'm hungry. If I'm not hungry I don't think about food, but, when I get an appetite, instantly my mind starts wandering and all the unhealthy options start running through my mind. Thats one reason I'm having the surgery, because I feel like if I can fill up on healthier choices it would help me shy away from the unhealthy ones. I'm just starting to get nervous because already I'm missing food and I'm only day 3 preop.
  9. My surgery is in two weeks and I've started the pre-op diet, which has just got me curious. The title says it all. What foods - preop, postop, and months/years after surgery - did you eat that you knew you probably shouldn't have? Did you pay the price? We're you pleasantly surprised? I'm a little sad that as I've transitioned to this phase and that it's goodbye to a lot of food I love, so I just wanted to start an interesting little confession-type topic to ease my mind!
  10. I'm 27 and am hoping post op weight lifting and exercising will help me not have loose skin issues.
